Gerald Bassett Jr.

Gerald E. “Jerry” Bassett Jr., 43, of Lombard, died Wednesday, March 25, in Glen Ellyn.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 30, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife, Lori M.; children, Jerry and Lauren; stepsons, Joshua and James; brother, Mark (Janice) Bassett; brothers-in-law, Mike (Jodee) and Joe (Dede) Arndt; and parents-in-law, Ron (Kathy) and Marge Arndt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald E. Sr. and Mary Bassett.
Mr. Bassett worked as a maintenance engineer in machine works.
Memorials to the family would be appreciated.

Louis Bergantino

Louis “Dug’s” Bergantino, 86, of Lombard, died Monday, March 23, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 27, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Peter Jarosz officiating. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Bergantino is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; children, Louis A. (Modene) and Susan (John) Oliver; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Michael Lombardi, Jeanne Amato, Leonard Bergantino and Annette Sandore.
Mr. Bergantino had worked as a bricklayer in construction.

Shirley Calas

Shirley L. Calas, nee Grant, 86, of Lombard, formerly of West Chicago, died Friday, March 27, at Lexington Healthcare in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
Mrs. Calas is survived by her son, Paul (Mary Jane); two granddaughters; and brothers, Kenneth (Rose) of Lombard and Jack. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack.
Mrs. Calas had lived in Lombard for 30 years. She had helped her husband in his Rice Well Drilling business in Lombard.

Lorraine Delgatto

Lorraine Grace Delgatto, nee Suhrbier, 84, of Las Vegas for 15 years, died Saturday, March 21, in Las Vegas.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 27, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Guiney officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Delgatto is survived by her husband, Samuel J. II; sons, Sam Jr. (Lorraine) and Thomas (Anne Marie); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Iona Morgan. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Don (Karleen) Suhrbier, Harriett Thornhill and Hank Suhrbier.
Mrs. Delgatto was a homemaker.

Raymond Desideri

Raymond J. Desideri, 83, of Villa Park, died Sunday, Monday, March 23, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services were held at St. Alexander Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Desideri is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Barb (Larry) Soberalski; sister, Violet Santini; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Ruth Hanna

Ruth Hanna, 99, of Lombard, died Friday, March 27, at Lexington Healthcare.
Visitation was held Sunday, March 29, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Committal was at Camp Creek Cemetery in Murphysboro, Ill.
Ms. Hanna was preceded in death by her siblings, Paul and Mervin Hanna, Edna Nerius and Lucille Hanna.
Ms. Hanna was born in Murphysboro and had been a resident of Lombard for 30 years. She had worked for Field Enterprises in Chicago.

George Kessler

George J. Kessler, 85, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Friday, March 27, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 31, at United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, with Pastor Fred Nelson and Fred Schaap officiating.
Mr. Kessler is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, John (Janet); and one grandson. He was preceded in death; by his parents, Fred and Luella Kessler; and brother, Fred.
Mr. Kessler was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having entered in 1944 and serving during World War II. He received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He retired in 1983 from Illinois Bell Telephone Co. after 35 years and moved from Lombard to Bella Vista in 1984. He was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista.
Memorial contributions to United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory in Bella Vista.

Kathleen Steben

Kathleen Ann Steben, 50, of Hillside, formerly of Villa Park, died Monday, March 23, in Hillside.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 27, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Ms. Steben is survived by her parents, Betty and Elroy Steben; sister, Dawn; five nieces and nephews and great-aunt of two; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lutheran Church Charities would be appreciated.

Robert Vokal

Robert M. Vokal, 54, died suddenly Friday, March 27, in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Vokal is survived by his children, Robert K. and Kimberly R. Vokal and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were private.

Vladimir Zhdan

Vladimir Semenovich Zhdan, 73, of Carol Stream, died Wednesday, March 25, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 27, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, Interment was held Saturday, March 28, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.
Mr. Zhdan is survived by his wife, Vera; children, Andrey (Inna), Luba (Andrey), Alex (Vita), Mikhal (Zoya) and Tatyana (Ruslan) Dementeva; and 13 grandchildren.
Pastor Zhdan was pastor for the Baptist Church in Russia. He came to Carol Stream in 2000, and had a degree in mechanical engineering.
