Gregory Bleers

Gregory G. Bleers, 68, of Lombard, died Monday, April 13, in Lombard.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
Mr. Bleers is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Susan (Jason) Gumbs, Gregory (Tammy) and Trista (Kevin) McCarthy; two grandchildren; siblings, Frank (Pearl), Paul (Fran), Mary Lou (Will) Noll, Thomas (Karla), Joseph (Valerie), Tess (Jim) Tovik, Larry (Kandi) of Villa Park and Lucie (Jim) Mullen; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jean (Mike) Prokopeak, John (Mary) Bremner, Joe (Linda) and Jim (Sheila) Bremner; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Bleers had retired after 43 years as an associate engineer for Commonwealth Edison. He was a member and past president of Sacred Heart Holy Name Society, and had served in many capacities at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, including being in charge of the electricity for German Fest, and served as an Eucharistic minister.

Donald Bunge

Donald J. Bunge, 63, of Aurora, formerly of Addison, died Friday, April 10, at Provena Mercy Hospital in Aurora.
Visitation and a family funeral service will be today, April 15, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Committal will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Bunge is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Arlene (Edward) Kaminski, Sherry (Becky Healy) and Timothy (Connie Chapman); seven grandchildren; and siblings, Karen Richardson, Margaret Sansone, Charlene Meyer, Robert, Walter “Bud” and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sons, Richard and Jonathon.
Mr. Bunge was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in Vietnam. He attended Willowbrook High School before joining the Marines. He was the owner-operator of Stillwater Enterprises in Aurora, where he had lived for 16 years.

Agnes Cleff

Agnes E. Cleff, nee Loftus, 99, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, April 7, at DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Cleff is survived by her son, Walter T. Jr. (Audrey); six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Sr.
Mrs. Cleff was a homemaker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.

Thomas Gilman

A memorial service was held for Thomas Gilman, 75, who died Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Gilman is survived by his wife of 51 years, Meredith; daughters, Tracy (Greg) Graham, Jill (Dean) Lillquist and Kelly (Tim) Mrazek; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Gilman graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Hammond, Ind., and Purdue University with a degree in agronomy. He was a golf superintendent for many years and moved to Florida, but never really retired until becoming ill.
Mr. Gilman earned the rank of Eagle Scout while a teenager, was a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association and the West Citrus Elks, loved hosting parties and making up elaborate costumes for Halloween, and was always up for a good joke. He moved from Sugar Mill Woods to Sugar Grove, Ill., in 1996.

Thomas Goffron

Thomas Goffron, 62, of Lombard, died Friday, April 10, at Fairview Baptist Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held today, April 15, at Lombard Bible Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Steve Hammer officiating. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Goffron is survived by his children, Brian P. (Diane) of Lombard, Dustin and Krystle Ann (fiancé Jason Marien); two grandchildren; mother, Gladys; mother-in-law, Irene Myszka; and siblings, Michael (Donna) and Donna (Lloyd) Leaman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eilene; and father, Jerome Goffron.
Mr. Goffron was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of DeVry and had worked as an engineer for Loyola Hospital Clinical Engineering. He had been a member of the Lombard Bible Church in Lombard since 1973.

Helen Gregie

Helen A. Gregie, 87, of Lombard, formerly of Villa Park, died Saturday, April 11, at Lexington of Lombard.
Visitation will be today, April 15, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 16, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at St. John the Apostle Church in Villa Park. Interment is at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles.
Mrs. Gregie is survived by her children, James (Louise), Dr. Kenneth (Dee) and Janet (Steven) Kain; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Mike; parents, Stanley and Victoria Kukla; and siblings, Chester, Edwin (Marge), Irene Wasniewski, Lottie (Ray) Krystiniak and Walter (Marie) Latasiewicz.

Lorraine Johnson

Lorraine Johnson, nee Kolp, 88, of O’Fallon, formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, April 7, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 10, at Schildknecht Funeral Home in O’Fallon. Interment was at O’Fallon City Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her children, Karen Leonard and Bruce G. Jr. (Marie); two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Frances Kolp; and husband, Bruce.
Mrs. Johnson retired from Marshall Field’s department store as an assistant manager of the intimate apparel department.

Marilyn King

Funeral services for Marilyn J. King, 72, of Villa Park, will be held today, April 15, at Steuerle Funeral Home, located at 350
S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mrs. King is survived by her children, Larry, Kenneth, Daniel and Peggy; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Laura Lenert

Laura R. Lenert, nee Denney, 49, of Brookfield, formerly of Tomah, Wis., died Sunday, April 5, after a courageous fight with cancer.
A celebration of life will be held April 25 at Stickney-Sokol, 4131 S. Home Ave., Stickney.
Mrs. Lenert is survived by her husband, John; children, Michael and Danielle Just; siblings, Trenner Meuret, Barbara Barkley, Donna Carmody, Roxanne Schnieder, Robert Denney, Alan Meuret, Darlene Fromer and Linda Macak; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and was a second mom to Joseph Pizzuto. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and RoseMarie Meuret; brother, Glenn Meuret; and nephews, Greg and Mike Deike.
Mrs. Lenert led a spirited and hard-working life filled with friends, family and the love of a challenge.

Karen Magnussen

Funeral services for Karen Lynn Magnussen, nee Wentzlaff, 64, of Oakbrook Terrace, were held Tuesday, April 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard. Entombment was at Mount Emblem Cemetery.
Mrs. Magnussen is survived by her husband, Richard Arnold; children, Brent and Peter (Valerie); one grandchild; and brothers, Bob (Jeri) and Don (Jan) Wentzlaff.
Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Westmore and Roosevelt, Lombard, IL 60148; or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Mary O’Connor

Mary Annette O’Connor, nee Klein, 73, of Lombard, died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Wayne Center Cemetery in Wayne.
Mrs. O’Connor is survived by her husband, Jerry, of Florida; daughters, Diane LeBreux and Debra (Ricky R.) Schultz of Lombard; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Frances Klein and Leland (Patricia) Klein. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Suzanne Klein.
Mrs. O’Connor was a resident of Lombard for 53 years and grew up on the Klein family farm by West Chicago in Wayne Township. She attended Glenbard High School in Glen Ellyn.
Mrs. O’Connor enjoyed sewing, ceramics, gardening and housework; was a Cubs fan; was very active in her grandchildren’s lives; and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard.

Timothy Rothenburger

Timothy J. Rothenburger, 51, a lifelong resident of Villa Park, died Tuesday, April 7, at the University of Chicago Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Interment is private.
Mr. Rothenburger is survived by his wife, Pattie; son, Jason (Amanda); parents, William “Bill” and Geraldine “Geri”; sister, Rebecca (Dino) Apuzzo; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Colleen Flynn.

Bett Simmons

Bett Simmons, nee Nolan, 86, of Lombard, formerly of Villa Park, died Tuesday, April 7, at Hines Veterans Administration Hospital in Hines.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 10, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private at Calvary Cemetery in Evanston.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her sons, Mike (Lenore), Dee (Gwen), Timothy (Barbara) and Kurt; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard N.
Mrs. Simmons was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served during World War II. She was active, and winner of several gold medals, in the National Veterans Golden Age Games. She was Lombard’s Senior Volunteer of the Year in 2008.

Emily Sullivan

Emily A. Sullivan, nee Artwohl, 89, of Lombard, formerly of Villa Park, died Wednesday, April 8, at Lexington of Lombard.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 13, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her husband, Donald F.; children, Kathie (the late Richard) Leadingham, Donald G., George W. (Debbie) and Julie (Dennis) Nixon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly (the late Richard) Miller; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Herman, Walter, Alfred, Robert, Arthur and Freida.
Mrs. Sullivan was an active member of St. Alexander Church, sedality member, CCW Woman of the Year and devoted sacristant.

Virginia Trepanier

Visitation for Virginia Trepanier, nee Griksas, 89, of Villa Park, was held Saturday, April 11, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Mrs. Trepanier is survived by her children, Jim (Joy), Judy Barrie and Ken (Wendy); and nine grandchildren.

Emilio Troianello

Emilio J. Troianello, 92, of Beacon Hill Retirement Community in Lombard, died suddenly Saturday, April 4.
A Mass will be held Saturday, April 18, at St. Michael Church in Wheaton. Interment will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Troianello is survived by his brother, Silvio; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary, Concetta, Italia and Joseph; and parents, Gilda and Matteo Troianello.
Mr. Troianello was born in Lawrence, Mass., and educated at Tufts University in Medford, Mass., where he received a B.S. degree in chemistry, magna cum laude, followed shortly by a Master of Science degree. He was a radiation chemist who worked more than 40 years for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Laboratory in Westchester, Mass., where he was a member of the radionuclide team.
During his long career, Mr. Troianello published many technical papers on fissionable materials and received numerous awards. He was a member of the American Chemical Society and the Association of Analytical Communities. He spent the last years of his life living with his brother, Silvio; and near his six great-nieces and nephews, whom he loved to play with, share his life experiences and watch grow.
