Eileen Biggerstaff


Eileen M. Biggerstaff, nee Enzweiler, 88, died Saturday, Nov. 28.
Funeral services are being held today, Dec. 2, at the St. Alexander Catholic Church Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment is at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mrs. Biggerstaff is survived by her nieces and nephews, Karen (the late Don) Moreno, Kevin (Sharon) Roy and Tammy (Phil) Sosnowski; sister-in-law, Joan (the late George) Karales; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford F.; and sister, Peggy (the late Donald) Roy.
Mrs. Biggerstaff was a past 47-year employee of Aladdin Industries. She was a lifelong member of Lady Elks, Elmhurst Lodge #1531; and was a volunteer at the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Guild’s Pink Elephant resale shop.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Anita Collins

Anita A. Collins, nee Kapler, 89, of DuPage Senior Home Sharing Residence in Lombard, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her cousins, Leona Mickow, Laurel (Larry) Burritt of Villa Park, Robert (Bobbi) Mickow and Gary (Deborah) Mickow. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J.
Mrs. Collins was a resident of Lombard for 25 years and had worked as a secretary at Continental Bank in Chicago for 10 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, York Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to DuPage Senior Home Sharing Inc., 711 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, IL 60187, would be appreciated.

Carol Locke

Carol Locke, 79, of Villa Park, died Thursday, Nov. 19. Interment was private.
Mrs. Locke is survived by her son, Daniel (Dori); sister, April (James Evans) Wreath; and nephew, Christopher Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, George D.

George Mrazek

George Mrazek, 89, of Hillside, died Monday, Nov. 30, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 3, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 4, at Christ Church of Oak Brook, with Contemporary Worship Director Nate Klinger officiating. Interment is at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
Mr. Mrazek is survived by his daughter, Marcia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; daughter, Carol Ann; and brother, James (Marion) Mrazek.
Mr. Mrazek was a veteran of World War II and was the former proprietor of Westchester Jewelers in the Westgate Shopping Center.

Cecelia Perille

Funeral services for Cecelia C. Perille, nee Celusta, 101, were held Sunday, Nov. 29, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery.
Mrs. Perille is survived by her children, Pascal (Barbara) and Louise (William) Schweihs; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; and two sisters and three brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Arthritis Foundation would be appreciated.

Roy Weigand

Roy Weigand, 87, of Lombard, died Thursday, Nov. 19.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Maple Street Chapel in Lombard. On Monday, Dec. 7, a military honor guard ceremony will be held at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Weigand is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Dorothy; children, Janice (Norm) Brown, Jeanette (Chris) Erb and Douglas; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Williams.
Mr. Weigand grew up in Lombard and was proud of his long family history in the Lombard area. Both his father’s family and his mother’s family (Meyer) settled in the area in the 1840s. He worked to retain the Meyer name on Meyers Road, which was named after his and other Meyer families living along the road long ago. His grandfather Peter Weigand owned the Lombard Hotel from 1889 to 1910.
Mr. Weigand served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from July 1942 to September 1945, aboard the heavy cruiser USS San Francisco, the second most decorated ship during World War II, with 17 Battle Stars. He trained at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, to be a radio operator and then served on the USS San Francisco, receiving seven of the Battle Stars, including the Wake Island raids of 1943 and the capture of Saipan and Guam. The crew was also charged with first charting the Aleutian Islands, and then he served on the USS Amsterdam as a “plank owner.”
Mr. Weigand owned Weigand Lumber of West Chicago, and was an active member of his naval reunion groups.
