Robert Broughton


Robert L. Broughton, 82, of Lombard, died Monday, Nov. 30, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 4, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Broughton is survived by his children, Sheryl (Brandt) Kindl of Lombard, Jeffrey J. (Regina) and Mark (Tammy); six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; and two brothers.
Mr. Broughton was a resident of Lombard for 53 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific. He was a retired salesman, a former member of the Lombard Early Morning Golf Association and a starter at Western Acres.

Matthew Calvert

Matthew C. Calvert, 36, of Lombard, died Monday, Nov. 30.
A burial was held Friday, Dec. 4, and a memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 5.
Mr. Calvert is survived by his daughter, Kaleigh; stepson, Colin Taglivia; father, Dennis (Judith) Calvert; mother, Donna Calvert; grandmother, Dorothy Tucker; siblings, Colleen (Dan) Whittington and Christine (Michael) Gross; and two nieces and two nephews.

Paul Duddy

Paul Henry Duddy, 52, of Lisle, formerly of Lombard, died Friday, Dec. 4, in Lisle.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 7, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Duddy is survived by his mother, Lois, formerly a 70-year resident of Lombard; sister, Gail; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan “Paul.”
Mr. Duddy was born in Elmhurst and had been a resident of Lombard until moving to Lisle in 2003. He was a graduate of Glenbard East High School in Lombard and had been employed by the Village of Roselle for a number of years and later was a driver for Coca Cola, PPG Industries and other companies. He loved cars, animals, the Chicago Bears and other local sports teams. He also really enjoyed discussing politics and other current events.

Lucille Hoch

Lucille M. Hoch, nee Staniec, 93, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Fair Oaks Health Care Center in Crystal Lake.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 3, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with Deacon Thomas Bailey of Sacred Heart Church officiating. Interment was private at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Hoch is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Charles) Bunker, Janice (Jack) Gregg and Frances (Tim) Harder; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E.; and brothers, Walter and Theodore Staniec.
Mrs. Hoch was a resident of Lombard since 1952, was a member of Sacred Heart Church and was a member of TOPS for many years.

Pastor Douglas Hogan

Pastor Douglas Edward Hogan, 52, of Belington, died Sunday, Dec. 6, at Broaddus Hospital in South Philippi.
Funeral services were held with military honors Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, with the Rev. Ken Kelley officiating.
Pastor Hogan is survived by his father, William D. Hogan; children, Janice Kathryn, Kathryn Marie, Benjamin James and William Vernon; sister, Barbara Ann Hogan; and grandmother, Ester Hogan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Ann Hogan.
Pastor Hogan was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1975-80. He served as a missionary full-time overseas in Malaysia, and after returning he served as youth pastor in the Christian Missionary Alliance in Morgantown. His most recent position was senior pastor for the Living Water Church in Philippi. He was active in the church planning of the Christian Missionary Alliance called Operation WV; and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

Kenneth Kuschel

Kenneth E. Kuschel, 67, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, in Lombard.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Dec. 3, at Glen Oak Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Kuschel is survived by his wife, Judith; son, Scott; one grandson; and mother, Louise Davis. He was preceded in death by his father, Erwin Kuschel.
Mr. Kuschel grew up in Hillside and graduated from Proviso East High School. He resided in Lombard for 40 years and was retired from Secure Controls Co., where he was employed in shipping. He also was a part-time driver for Laidlaw, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Lombard.
Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St.

Virginia Tonne

Virginia Grace Tonne, nee Weiland, 88, of Lombard, died Sunday, Dec. 6, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 9, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 10, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Tonne is survived by her children, Dr. Bill (Peg), Jim (Jeanine), Augie Jr. (Vigdis) and Virginia “Ginna” (Bob) Allen; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, MaryLou Buckel; and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, August L.; brother, Roy (Marie) Weiland; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Gale Buckel, Catherine (Arvid) Kohlin, Ted (Cass) Tonne, Bill Tonne (KIA, WWII, Luzon), Chris (Kay) Tonne, Arl (Marie) Tonne, Jerry (Helen) Tonne and Bob (Clarice) Tonne.
Mrs. Tonne was a resident of Lombard from 1925 until moving into an assisted living facility four years ago. She was a 1934 graduate of Sacred Heart Grade School and a 1938 graduate of Glenbard (West) High School. She was a homemaker and had worked at Carson Pirie & Scott, was an avid golfer who had been active in multiple golf leagues and bowling leagues, was a member of the CCW at Sacred Heart Church and also a member of the Lombard Women’s Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Evans Scholars Foundation, 1 Briar Road, Golf, IL 60029, would be appreciated.

Margaret Vogl

Margaret J. “Peggy” Vogl, 80, of Lombard, died Thursday, Dec. 3, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 7, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was Monday, Dec. 7, at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mrs. Vogl is survived by her children, Michael (Stella), Gary (Patricia), Thomas (Barbara), Mary Patrice (Jerry) Seaberg of Villa Park, Ellen (Greg) Stukel and Anne (John) Mayfield; and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M.; and sister, Eileen Leisen.
Mrs. Vogl was a resident of Beacon Hill for the last year-and-a-half, Glen Ellyn for 13 years and Lombard from 1959-95. She was a homemaker, member of the Red Hat Society, former member of Guys & Dolls Golf League in Lombard, member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and former member of the CCW at St. Pius X.
