Sandra Bartos

Sandra J. Bartos, 65, of Lombard, formerly of Westmont, died Monday, Feb. 2, in Lombard.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Feb. 5, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Ms. Bartos is survived by her daughter, Janice (Brian) Butler; one grandchild; sisters, Joyce (Richard) Nesslar and Pamela (Michael) Galan; a niece and nephew; and partner, Leda Gardner.
Ms. Bartos was born in Hinsdale. She was known for her sense of humor, presence and zest for life; and always trying to bring out the best and giving her best to all whose lives she touched.

Charles Batchelor

Charles W. Batchelor, 90, of Lombard, died Monday, Feb. 2, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 7, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was private at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mr. Batchelor is survived by his wife, Irene M. Jurich Batchelor; daughters, Kathleen (William) Harris and Barbara (Thomas) Van Arkle; stepchildren, Carol (Charles) Szopa, Christine (Dale) Schneider, Patricia (Gary) McKenna, Joseph (Kathleen) Jurich, James (Donna) Jurich and John (Marge) Jurich; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabella; and sister, Marguerite.
Mr. Batchelor was a resident of Lombard for 23 years. He had retired from Glenbard Tool as a tool and die maker after over 30 years. He was a 50-year member of Lombard Lodge 1098 AF&AM, and was a member of Christ the King Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Juvenile Diabetes, 500 N. Dearborn, Chicago, IL 60610, would be appreciated.

Ellis Bogenholm

Ellis Bogenholm, nee Huizinga, 100, of Villa Park, died Sunday, Feb. 1, in Villa Park.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 7, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. Stephen Kellough of Wheaton College officiating. Interment was at Forest Home Cemetery.
Mrs. Bogenholm is survived by her children, Carl. R. and Bonnie (Milton) Shapiro; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Nellie (the late Erik) Liljestam; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl N.; and brothers, Richard (the late Edna) and John (the late Cora) Huizinga.
Mrs. Bogenholm was a longtime resident of Villa Park and had worked for 50 years in the accounting department of Flexi-glass. She was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church in Lombard.
Memorials to Elim Christian School, 13020 S. Central Ave., Palos Heights, IL 60463, would be appreciated.

Bernard Chlapecka

Bernard Chlapecka, 82, of Lexington of Lombard, died Thursday, Feb. 5, at Lexington Health Care in Lombard.
Funeral services and interment were private.
Mr. Chlapecka is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Bernard Allan, Steven, Anthony and Jerry Garrett and Eleanor; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Chlapecka was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of the Naval Firefighter School. He loved going to the racetrack for horse racing.
Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Momo Durdic

Momo “Mike” Durdic, 69, of Oakbrook Terrace, died Sunday, Feb. 8, in Oakbrook Terrace.
Visitation is private.
Mr. Durdic is survived by his wife. Silvana; children, Marcella (Greg) Cheaure, Stefano (Traci) and Sabrina (Keith) Kustra; three grandchildren; and brother-in-law and best friend, Fabio Giaretti.
Mr. Durdic was born in Yugoslavia and had been a banquet captain at the Drake Hotel for 43 years.
Arrangements were made by Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.

Elfriede Grote

Elfriede Edith Grote, 102, formerly of Oak Park, died Saturday, Jan. 31, at Lexington of Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 8, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Forest Home Cemetery.
Mrs. Grote is survived by her son, Gary (Jean); eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, Harold (Elaine); and brothers, Walter (Wilma) and Paul (Gertrude) Garedziella.
Mrs. Grote was a homemaker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.

Vivian Hlinka

Vivian M. Hlinka, nee Kasper, 95, of Lombard, formerly of Western Springs, died Friday, Feb. 6, in Lombard.
A memorial service will be held today, Feb. 11, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mrs. Hlinka is survived by her sister, Marilyn (George) Lange of Lombard; three nieces; two great-nephews and a great-niece; and many other cousins and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard.
Mrs. Hlinka was a resident of Lexington Square in Lombard for seven years. She had worked for the State of Illinois in Chicago in the late 1930s, and had worked for Lincoln Federal Savings and Loan in the 1960s. She collected students’ savings at local grade schools and took them to the savings and loan in Berwyn.

Michael Iozzo

A memorial visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 7, for Michael F. Iozzo, 87, formerly of Villa Park, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Mr. Iozzo is survived by his wife, Emily; children, Vito Michael (Carol) and Rosemarie (James) Farmer; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fred (Elaine), Frank “Webbe” (Myrene), Rosemarie (Nick) Caiafa and Florence (the late Butch) Maurino; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Vito Michael; and siblings, Theresa Spatola and Raymond Iozzo.

Gloria Marchese

Gloria C. Marchese, nee D’Angelo, 77, of Lombard, formerly of Villa Park, died Sunday, Feb. 1, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 7, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Marchese is survived by her sons, Paul J. (Gwen) of Lombard, Charles (Patty) of Villa Park and Michael of Lombard; five grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Fran) and Eugene; sister-in-law, Dorothy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; brother, Charles; and sister-in-law, Pam.
Mrs. Marchese was a resident of Lombard for eight years and had been a resident of Villa Park from 1963 to 2000.

Victoria Prokopek

Victoria A. Prokopek, nee Pawelczak, 91, of Roselle, formerly of Lombard, died Saturday, Feb. 7, at GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights.
Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 11, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles.
Mrs. Prokopek is survived by her children, Richard (Barbara) and Nancy (Philip) Castrogiovanni; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; and siblings, John (the late Helen), Joseph, Fred (the late Lorraine), Helen (the late Chester) Pawelko, Frank (the late Marian), Ann (the late Joseph) Kelly, Edward and Stella.
Mrs. Prokopek was a resident of Roselle for five-and-a-half years, and was formerly a resident of Lombard from 1973 to 2003.

Eleanor Schroeder

Eleanor B. Schroeder, 97, of Carol Stream, formerly of Villa Park, died Monday, Feb. 9.
Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 11, from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Alexander Church. Interment is at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.
Mrs. Schroeder is survived by her nieces, Lorraine Karnatz and Eleanor (Frank) Haisler and their children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold and two brothers.
Mrs. Schroeder was a group leader at General Electric and a bookkeeper. She loved bowling and her flower garden.

Rita Skudlarek

Rita R. Skudlarek, 86, of Villa Park, died Friday, Feb. 6, at Sunrise Senior Living in Glen Ellyn.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Skudlarek is survived by her children, Gloria (the late Barry) Murphy and Roy (Judith); six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter.
Mrs. Skudlarek was a homemaker.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

June Vidoloff

June Voeks Vidoloff, nee Miller, 90, of Elmhurst, formerly of Chicago, died Saturday, Feb. 7, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Visitation and funeral services will be today, Feb. 11, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Committal will be Thursday, Feb. 12, at St. Lucas Cemetery in Chicago.
Mrs. Vidoloff is survived by her children, Charles (Marie), Ann Marie Huske, Edward (Carol) Voeks, Lisbeth (James) Schultz, Robert (Anna) Voeks of Lombard and Diana (Harry) Spencer; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Wolan; sister-in-law, Annette Miller; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Rudy Voeks; second husband, Victor Vidoloff; siblings, Glenn Miller, Lorraine (the late John) Schart and Shirley (the late John) Ennen; and brother-in-law, Jozef Wolan.
Mrs. Vidoloff was a lifelong Chicagoan and recently of Elmhurst for one-and-a-half years. She worked for 22 years at the Sears Tower in Chicago, was a 20-year volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chicago, a member of numerous senior clubs, a passionate world traveler and a proud Cubs fan.
