Helen Boldebuck

Helen M. Boldebuck, nee Kruder, 86, of Lombard, died Friday, June 26, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services are being held today,  July 1, at First United Methodist Church in Lombard. Interment is at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Boldebuck is survived by her children, Jim (Charity), John of Lombard and Sue (Tom) Rusthoven; seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Irvin; and brother, George Kruder.
Mrs. Boldebuck was a lifelong resident of Lombard. She grew up at 216 E. Maple St. in Lombard, attended Lincoln School and was a 1940 graduate of Glenbard (West) High School. She had retired from Carson Pirie & Scott after 19 years.
Mrs. Boldebuck had been a crossing guard from 1960-72, had been president of the Lombard Service League, a den mother, a Sunday school teacher, developed the PTA volleyball for adults in which she was active for 25 years, had been a member of the Women’s Circle and enjoyed traveling.
Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Sophie Kalemba

Sophie Dorothy Kalemba, nee Cwik, formerly of Chicago, died Sunday, June 21, in Fontana, Calif.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
Mrs. Kalemba is survived by her children, Virginia Jablonsky, Norbert and Patricia Krizek; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M.; and siblings, Stella Plaza, Charles Cwik, Eva Hardek, Josephine Jakalski and Caroline Maleck.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Joan Kobler

Joan L. Kobler, nee Phillips, 75, of Lombard, died Thursday, June 25, at PA Peterson Center for Health in Rockford.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 27, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Kobler is survived by her stepsons, Dr. William (Carolyn), Thomas (Dory) and Eric (Joellyn); four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Starkey and William C. Kobler.
Mrs. Kobler had worked as an associate broker for Swett & Crawford in Chicago. She had over 35 years’ experience in the insurance business. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Villa Park, and was secretary of the board of Liberty Square Condominiums for eight years.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society, Colorectal Research, would be appreciated.

William Lester

William A. “Bill” Lester, 74, of Lombard, died Wednesday, June 24, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 7, at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mr. Lester is survived by his children, Sheila, William Jr., Meg (Robert) Baker and Joseph; three grandchildren; sisters, Karen Hefele, Anne (Robert) Wolowiec, Ellen (Donald) Johnson and Amy (Sean) Erwin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Peter; and sister, Judith (Alfred) Imgrund.
Mr. Lester was a 50-year resident of Lombard and worked in downtown Lombard for many years, where he practiced law. Before he completed his studies for his law degree, he was a collection agent for the Chicago division of the Internal Revenue Service. He served in the  U.S. Army from 1956-58 and after his discharge, became a member of the volunteer DuPage County Civil Defense organization, which assisted county and local police in emergencies.
Mr. Lester was active in Sacred Heart Church, including organizing the parish’s annual Germanfest, in the 1970s and 1980s. He loved designing and building new layouts for his model trains, was fascinated by law enforcement and was known for his love of crossword puzzles and storytelling.

Helen Sefl Lipke

Helen Sefl Lipke, 91, of Oak Brook, died Sunday, June 28, at Elmhurst Extended Care in Elmhurst.
Graveside services are being held today, July 1, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mrs. Lipke is survived by her sister, Blanch Murtagh; and nephews, John Michael Murtagh and Carl J. Sefl. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Richard.
Mrs. Lipke was born in Cicero, was a 1936 graduate of Morton High School and a 1948 graduate of Moody Bible Institute. She was a resident of Villa Park from 1965 to 2007 and a resident of Mayslake Village in Oak Brook since 2007. She served as missionary in Arabia for five years and wherever she went, far and wide, she made friends for life.
Mrs. Lipke married her husband later in her life and they enjoyed their life of travel, fun and just being together until his untimely passing. She had been a member of the Oak Park Recorder Society and the American Recorder Society, and was a member of Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church and a former member of Oak Brook Christian Center.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a local animal shelter would be appreciated.

Phyllis Richardson

Phyllis M. Richardson, nee Jordan, 75, of Lombard, died Tuesday, June 23, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 26, at Crossroads Community Church in Carol Stream. Interment was at Little Springs Baptist Cemetery in Thompsonville, Ill.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by her brother, Charles (Joann) of Lombard; a niece and nephew; three great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends and adopted nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Richardson and Rose; brother, David; daughter-in-law, Mary; nephew, Steven R.; and aunt, Sr. Mary Phillip Champayne.
Mrs. Richardson was born in rural Benton, Ill., and grew up in Maywood. She graduated from Morton East High School and resided in the Lombard/Downers Grove/Glen Ellyn area for 30 years. She retired from Good Samaritan Hospital as a unit secretary and was currently working for Pampered Chef in customer relations for the last seven years. She was an active member of Crossroads Community Church and was active as a greeter and Sunday school teacher. She was also active with the York Township Republican Women.
