Joyce Anderson

Joyce Anderson, nee Rees, 84, of Lombard, died Saturday, July 18, in Lombard.
Funeral services were private.
Ms. Anderson is survived by her children, Mary Anderson-Huckstadt of Lombard and Mark (Grace); five grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ms. Anderson was born and raised in Freeport and moved to Lombard in 1951. She worked for State Farm Insurance Co. and retired after working 30 years as a claims adjuster secretary.

Thomas Brzezinski

Thomas Andrew Brzezinski, 59, of Lombard, died Monday, July 27, at Rush Oak Park Hospital in Oak Park.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, from the funeral home to Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Wood Dale. Interment is at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Brzezinski is survived by his wife of 26 years, Joan Tonne Brzezinski; daughter, Theresa of Lombard; parents, Steven and Esther Jane Brzezinski; siblings, Steven, Kristine (Patrick) Leston, Kathy (Phil) Saul, Mary (Gordy) Brzezinski, Jan (Dave) Anderson, Michael (Jackie) of Lombard, Ann Niewold, Carol and Joel (Heather); 10 nieces and five nephews; and many other relatives.
Mr. Brzezinski was a resident of Lombard since 1980. He grew up in Glen Ellyn and was the third of 10 children. He was a 1963 graduate of St. Petronille Grade School and a 1967 graduate of St. Francis High School. He had attended Hawaii Southern, where he received his B.S. in Business, and Northern Illinois University, where he received his master’s degree. He had taught for District 87, College of DuPage and Montini Catholic High School. He had been an accountant for 20 years in the DuPage area before becoming a teacher.
Mr. Brzezinski had attended St. Pets Catholic Church and was currently attending Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed basketball.

Jack Hockman

Jack Franklin Hockman, 84, of Lombard, died Wednesday, July 22, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 25, at Community Presbyterian  Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Stewart Pattison officiating.
Mr. Hockman is survived by his wife, Lois M.; children, Cary, Brian, Diane Lynn (Mike) Gwyn and Amy Brian) Bone; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Hockman had worked as an industrial engineer.
Memorials to Community Presbyterian Church, 1111 E. Madison St., Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.

Agnes Leicht

Agnes F. Leicht, nee Timmermann, 85, of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Villa Park, died Saturday, July 25, in Glen Ellyn.
Visitation will be today, July 29, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, at the funeral home. Interment is at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
Mrs. Leicht is survived by her son, George Jr. (Patricia); seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Anna Dieterle, Julia (John) Hughes, Frances (Rob) Dewart and Edward (Sandra) Timmermann; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sr.; daughter, Susan; siblings, Katherine, Florence and Lillian, and Frank, Bud and Robert Timmermann; and brother-in-law, Henry Dieterle.
Mrs. Leicht was a former member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Villa Park.

Mary Olivo

Mary L. Olivo, nee Shaw, 78, of Lombard, died Sunday, July 26, in Lombard.
Funeral services are being held today, July 29, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Olivo is survived by her husband, Salvatore; children, Amy, Ann (Mahmoud) Olivo, Mary (Cameron) Gabriel, Jess and Salvatore “Sam” (Trudi); eight grandchildren; and sister, Joan Rubino.
Mrs. Olivo was a resident of Lombard for 43 years. She was a graduate of Proviso East High School and was retired after working as an operator and at AT&T at Main Street and St. Charles Road in Lombard.
Flowers or Masses are welcome.

Andrew Piermattei

Andrew A. Piermattei, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, July 21.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 24, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Piermattei is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; mother, Carmen Kerskey; children, Dina (Eric) Matson, Andres (Thomas) Fascetti and Nicole (Chris) Glorioso; three grandchildren; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Piermattei was a 37-year resident of Villa Park and a 40-year employee of Northwest Airlines. He worked at Willowbrook High School as a student supervisor and scored many sporting events at Willowbrook.

Anne Richiger

Anne A. Richiger, nee Brozek, of Lombard, formerly of Cicero, died Tuesday, July 21, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
A visitation was held Sunday, July 26, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was held Monday, July 27, at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Richiger is survived by her daughter, Carol, of Lombard; sister, Mildred Triner; and some nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; and siblings, Mary Kaspar, Helen Brozek, Martha Sommer and George Brozek.
Mrs. Richiger was a resident of Lombard for eight years.
Memorials to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 171 N. Cuyler Ave., Oak Park, IL 60302, would be appreciated.

Barbara Sceske

Funeral services and interment for Barbara A. Sceske, 83, of Villa Park, were private.
Mrs. Sceske is survived by her children, Linda (Mike) Dwyer, Carol (Jim) Fassnacht and Joanne Cassell; eight grandchildren; three great-grandmchildren; and siblings, Grace Wawak and Norman Hopkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; and son, Robert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Jerry Svatek

Jerry Svatek, 90, of Lombard, died Friday, July 24, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 27, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. Wayne R. Matulionis officiating.
Mr. Svatek is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Mille Quinn, Debbie (Joe) Aranki and Julie (Frank) Tubikanec; seven grandchildren; and sister- and brother-in-law, Mildred (the late Rudy) Kyp and John (Vivian) Lingevitch. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Anna (the late Joseph) Beneda.
Mr. Svatek was born in Czechoslovakia, where he had been a renowned hockey player and bicycle racer. He had worked as a contractor and real estate developer; was a musician who enjoyed playing sax, clarinet, drums and violin; and was a wine maker, gardener and fisherman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Lung Association would be appreciated.
