Matthew Benson

Matthew Benson died Sunday, May 3, after a hard fight with lung cancer.
Mr. Benson is survived by his father, Ted Benson; mother, Jacqueline Nash; stepmother, Jane Benson; daughters, Jacqueline Washnock and Renee Schneller; two grandsons; and sisters, Laura Benson, Lynn Benson and Dee Murray.
Contributions to the American Lung Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Evelyn D’Adamo

Evelyn D’Adamo, nee Stachura, 83, of Lombard, formerly of Oak Park, died Saturday, May 2, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 7, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Giles Church in Oak Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. D’Adamo is survived by her husband, Daniel Sr.; children, Antoinette (Sam) Priorello, Daniel Jr. (Mary) and Theresa (Len) Misztal; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; brother-in-law, Michael (Marie) D’Adamo; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Helen, Betty and Mitchell; sister-in-law, Rosie (Tony) Lettieri; and brother-in-law, Tony (Angie) D’Adamo.
Mrs. D’Adamo was a homemaker and a member of the Smiling Handicrafters of Oak Park. She loved to crochet, bake for family and friends, loved the Chicago Bulls and enjoyed playing bingo.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Calvin Defenbau

Calvin E. “Cal” Defenbau, 91, of Lombard, died Wednesday, May 6, at Beacon Hill Health Center in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 9, at First United Methodist Church in Lombard. Interment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Defenbau is survived by his wife, Lois; sons, Michel, Calvin III and James; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Clarice (James) Corcoran; and sister-in-law, Eileen Read. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Carol; and brother-in-law, Alfred Read.
Mr. Defenbau was a resident of Lombard for 61 years. He was a graduate of Miami of Ohio University and received his master’s degree in administration from Northwestern University. He had worked for Lombard Elementary School District 44 for 33 years as an industrial arts teacher, supervisor of buildings and grounds, superintendent of business affairs and principal of Lincoln School.
He was a member and past president of the Illinois Association of School Business Officials, was a past president and 50-year member of the Lombard Lions Club, was a member of Lombard American Legion Post #391 and Lombard VFW Post #5815, had served as a Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack #42, and was a life member of the Lombard Historical Society and Friends of the Library.
Memorials to the Lombard Lions Club, P.O. Box 431, Lombard, IL 60148; or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

William Dorney

William J. Dorney, 53, a longtime resident of Elmhurst, died Wednesday, May 6.
A memorial Mass was held Monday, May 11, at Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Elmhurst.
Mr. Dorney is survived by his siblings, Robert, Regina (Don) Enders, Sue (Bruce) McGady, Kay (the late Richard) Panarese and Michael J.; 17 nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Catherine; and sisters, Marilyn (Craig) Barloga and Therese (Bob) Curtis.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Leanore Sebescak

Leanore R. Sebescak, nee Rousseau, 92, of Lombard, died Thursday, May 7 at Beacon Hill in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 9, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. Mary Church in Downers Grove. Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
Mrs. Sebescak is survived by her children, Mary Lee Crowley and Andrew J. Jr. (Rose Ann); three grandchildren; sister, Meredith Kelly; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Sr.; son-in-law, Richard B. Crowley Sr.; grandson, Vincent A.; and brother-in-law, Joseph Kelly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, 1801 S. Meyers Road, Suite 100, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181, would be appreciated.

Ruth Zito

Visitation for Ruth M. Zito, nee Donofrio, 86, will be held today, May 13, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 14, at St. Alexander gathering space in Villa Park. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Zito is survived by her husband, Daniel J.; sons, Daniel J. Jr., Donald F. (Carol) and Richard J.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Joann Zimonski, Ethel Panozzo, Betty Donofrio and Ronald Donofrio; and many nieces and nephews.
