Barbara Abruzzo

Barbara Ann Abruzzo, nee Bussa, 43, of Naperville, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Mrs. Abruzzo is survived by her loving husband, Peter; and their two beloved sons, Dominic and Vincent; as well as her parents, William and Rose Bussa; brothers, David Bussa, William Bussa (Joyce) and Robert Bussa; sisters, Donna Effner (Randy) and Sandra Gonzales (Fidel); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Bussa.
Barbara was a 1984 graduate of Glenbard East High School and a 1988 graduate of Texas Wesleyan university, where she graduated with top honors and was a member of the volleyball team. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. She will be remembered for her fun-loving nature, wonderful sense of style, beauty, compassion and unconquerable spirit.
Thank you to family, friends and neighbors for all their love and support throughout Barb’s brave fight.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2009, 9:15 a.m., at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, to St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 87th and Lisson Road, Naperville, for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment is at Naperville Cemetery. Albert Kick

Albert C. “Charlie” Kick, 58, of Lombard, died Saturday, May 2, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 5, at Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, with the Rev. Brian Troug officiating. Interment was at Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Yorkville.
Mr. Kick is survived by his wife of seven years, Juliana Triana Kick; children, Jamie (Frank) Hill and Jared (Jana) Kick; six grandchildren; parents, Louis and Margaret Kick; siblings; Deborah (Scott) Leahy, Sue Bullock, Kimberly (Doug) Leihfeit, Jenise (Chuck) Knowles, Christopher (Linda) Kick, Carl (Heidi) Kick, Mary (Terry) Compton and Andrew (Rebecca) Kick; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kick was born in Woodstock and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He owned and ran West Data, a cable assembly manufacturer; was a former member of the Yorkville American Legion; and enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending time with his six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for Mr. Kick is being established by his family for selected charities.

Estelle Myscofski

Estelle M. “Stef Myscofski, nee Gnojek, 88, formerly of Oak Lawn, died Saturday, May 2, at Manor Care in Naperville.
Funeral services are being held today, May 6, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.
Mrs.  Myscofski is survived by her children, Ronald F. (Jeanne M.) of Lombard, Evelyn J. “Lynn” (John V.) Poulos and Carol A. (Ted McNair) Myscofski; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Mary Myscofski and Connie (Ted) Mazurski; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry F.; great-granddaughter, Erin Myscofski; brother-in-law, Bruno Myscofski; and siblings, Harry, Bill, Bessie, Max, Mildred and John.
Mrs. Myscofski was born in Douglas, W.Va., and lived in Chicago; Mission, Kan.; and Oak Lawn. After working for JCPenney and the  Treasury store in Oak Lawn, she served on numerous volunteer committees in her community. She joined the Friendship Club at St. Linus Parish and earned a “Woman of the Year” honor from the United Way in 1988.

Herbert Radtke

Herbert H. Radtke, 92, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died Friday, April 24, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark.
Committal will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Radtke is survived by his brother, Walter (Betty). He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; and brother, Charles (Grace).
Mr. Radtke was a former resident of Lombard and Elmhurst. He was a veteran of World War II and a longtime employee of American Can Co. in Maywood.

Ronald Rottschafer, Ph.D.

Ronald Henry Eugene Rottschafer, Ph.D., 75, of Lombard, died Saturday, May 2.
Funeral services will be held today, May 6, at Evangelical Covenant Church of Hinsdale. Interment is at Bronswood Cemetery.
Dr. Rottschafer is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Rhonda (David) Sherwood, Rachel (Bret) Quigley and Robin (John) Norkus; stepchildren, Jennifer (Phil) Sikkenga and George (Melissa) Van Denend; 14 grandchildren; and siblings, Bruce (Randa) Rottschafer and Lyn (Jacques) deLormier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Henry and Constance Rottschafer.
Dr. Rottschafer was a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., and received his doctorate in psychology from Southern Illinois University. He was an esteemed clinical psychologist in private practice in Oak Brook for over 48 years, and was a published author of the book, “The Search for Satisfaction: Getting More for Yourself and Giving More to Others.”
He also taught Sunday school classes for many years and frequently contributed articles to Christian and psychology publications. His eloquence, wisdom and humor touched the lives of family, friends, clients and fellow churchgoers. He enjoyed world travel and fishing, and was an avid photographer and flower and vegetable gardener.
Donations in his memory can be made to Timothy Christian School in Elmhurst or Evangelical Covenant Church of Hinsdale.

Louise Travnick

Louise E. Travnick, nee DeCriscio, 70, of Lombard, died Wednesday, April 29, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 5, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Travnick is survived by her husband of 50 years, William J.; children, Lynn, Carol and Michael (Jennifer) of Villa Park; and many other family and friends, especially the Marybelles of St. Mary’s High School.
Mrs. Travnick was a resident of Lombard since 1972. She was a die-hard Cubs fan, enjoyed helping at the local pet and animal shelter and enjoyed playing cards with her family.
