Ellen Brink


Ellen J. Brink, nee Crowley, 91, formerly of Lombard, died Saturday, Oct. 31, at The Meadows of Glen Ellyn.
Funeral services are being held today, Nov. 4, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Brink is survived by her children, Marilyn (Kenneth) Zollars, Jeffrey, Roberta (Les) Novak, Steven (Ellen) of Lombard and Gregory (Diane); 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert J.
Mrs. Brink was very proud of her Irish heritage. She loved to play bingo and collected teddy bears. She was a founding member of Christ the King Catholic Church and had spent the last six-and-a-half years at The Meadows of Glen Ellyn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to CNS Hospice, 690 E. North Ave., Carol Steam, IL 60188, would be appreciated.

Mary Davit


Mary Catherine Davit, nee Heeney, 75, of Lombard, died Friday, Sept. 11.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard.
Mrs. Davit is survived by her daughter, Kristen (Len) Bacharier; three grandchildren; siblings, Kevin (Donna) Heeney, John (Meriam) Heeney and Helen “Tootsie” Marie; and many beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bart; and brother, Thomas Heeney.
Mrs. Davit worked for Willowbrook High School in District 88 for over 20 years and made many wonderful friends, both with the faculty and students.

Elizabeth Dziak


Funeral services for Elizabeth R. Dziak, nee Rogers, 86, of Villa Park, were held Saturday, Oct. 31, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Dziak is survived by her children, William Jr., Susan (Matt) Misch, Mary Elizabeth, Richard (Joan), Sylvia and Nancy; nine grandchildren; brother, Richard “Dick” Rogers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

Mark Errichiello


Mark A. Errichiello, 50, of Lombard, died Saturday, Oct. 31, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 5, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is private.
Mr. Errichiello is survived by his wife of six years, Jeanne; stepson, Joe (Vanessa) Dioguardi; godchild, Lucca; parents, Jim and Jean; siblings, Cindy and Dennis (Darlene); and many loved and cherished friends and family.
Mr. Errichiello was a very proud and active member of AA. He owned 2-Good Chimney Sweeps, was an alumni of the Wayback Inn in Maywood, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling and fishing in Oregon, Illinois and Wisconsin. He was a very simple man.

Zdzislawa Guzik


Funeral services for Zdzislawa Edith Guzik, nee Wieliczo, 84, of Villa Park, were held Monday, Nov. 2, at St. Alexander Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Guzik is survived by her children, George, Christine (Kenneth) Dienethal and Margaret (Don) Spires; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and aunt and friend of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; and great-grandson, Ian.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Donna Kauth


Donna M. Kauth, nee Bello, died peacefully at home on Oct. 31 after a long illness.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 6, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mrs. Kauth is survived by her husband, Gerald Jr.; children, Justin McSweeney, Amber and Marah; one granddaughter; siblings, Eileen, Patsy, Joe and Natalie; sister-in-law, Denise (Jim) Peters; and many nieces and nephews.

Earl Michaels


Earl John Michaels, 83, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 2, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Michaels is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marjorie; daughters, Kathy (Bruce) Allendorfer and Joanne (Tom) Westerholm; five granddaughters; sister, Lucille (Edmund) Kietzer; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul G. and Emma; second mom (step) Sophie; and brothers, Paul (the late Lois) and Theodore (killed in action while serving in the U.S. Army during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge).
Mr. Michaels was born in Chicago, attended Tabor Lutheran Church and School, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He met his wife, Marjorie, a lifelong resident of Lombard, during their “Gamma Delta” days, and they were residents of Lombard just short of 53 years.
Upon his retirement from GTE and Holabird and Root, Mr. Michaels enjoyed golfing and was an employee of Western Acres Golf Course in Lombard. Favorite memories included many years of camping and more recently, family trips to Paw Paw Lake in Michigan. He was a member of St. John’s, where he enjoyed being part of the choir, and served as elder, treasurer, member of the finance committee and member of the “B” dart team. He was known for his quick wit and loving service.
Memorials to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard, IL 60148; or a charity of choice, would be appreciated.

Carol Russell

Carol A. Russell, 62, of Villa Park, died Thursday, Oct. 29.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Russell is survived by her husband, Raymond, children, Matthew, Bridgett and Melissa; and two grandchildren.

Jouke Rypkema

Jouke N. Rypkema, age 81, passed away peacefully October 30th, 2009, at home surrounded by family.

Jouke came to the US from the Netherlands in 1954 with his wife, Ineke. He worked for 38 years at Zenith Radio as an electrical R&D engineer.

Jouke spent his life living the priorities that he believed in, which were honesty, integrity, helping others in need, and supporting and loving his family. He loved to be outdoors enjoying camping trips, traveling, fishing and hiking.

Jouke spent many years involved in organizations including teaching religious education, volunteering for HOPE (Home of Private Enterprise), and serving the church and his community group (Form Me a Community). Jouke also had a great talent for woodworking, gardening, and best of all, playing the piano. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Jouke is survived by his wife, Yke (Ineke), nee Lingemann; his children, Wilmet Rypkema, Irene (Jime) Heffem, Patricia (Steven) Pratapas, Stephen (Suzanne) Rypkema, Carolyn Rypkema, and Virginia (Tim) Lattner; grandchildren, Nathan Lytle, Chelsea (Heath) Woodard, Leia Pratapas, Katy (J) Leman, Jessica and Julia Pratapas, Luke (fiancée Katie Prichard), Claire, and Paul Rypkema, Danny, Grace, and Erin Lattner; great-grandchildren, Emily, Garrett, and Miley Woodard; and siblings, Jogchum, Sake (Bela), Nico, Koos, Hendrik, (Ellen), and the late Piet and Ypke Rypkema. Jouke was also preceded in death by his mother, Reino; and father, Mainse Rypkema.

A memorial gathering was held Tuesday, November 3rd, fom 3–9 p.m. at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.

The Memorial Mass is today, November 4th, 11 a.m., at St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison, Lombard.

Harold Schubert


Harold V. Schubert, 80, of Aurora, formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, at his son’s home.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mr. Schubert is survived by his children, Arlene (Daniel Frawley) and Bruce (Ann) of Aurora; three grandchildren; and cousin, Victoria (Walter) Reiken. He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Gertrude; and sister, Lorraine (the late Carl) Luettschwager.
Mr. Schubert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and working on home improvement projects.

Thomas Schultz


Thomas J. Schultz, 57, of Lombard, formerly of Chicago, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Lombard.
All services were private.
Mr. Schultz is survived by his wife, Diane M.; brother, Patrick (Ruby); and nephews, Cary (Cathy) Schultz and Brian Schultz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy.
Mr. Schultz was a resident of Lombard for 18 years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War.
