Maria Bressler


Maria L. Bressler, of Lombard, formerly of Middletown, N.Y., died Saturday, Oct. 17, in Lombard.
A memorial Mass will be held today, Oct. 21, at Immaculate Conception Church in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Bressler is survived by her husband, Louis Goddard; daughter, Jacqueline M. (Paul Sapata) Martinez; and two granddaughters; and was a sister, aunt and friend of many.
Mrs. Bressler was a Bolivian Renacer.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pancreatic Action Network, at www.pancan.org, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by DuPage Cremations Ltd.

Mary Jo Ferruzza-Allen

Mary Jo Ferruzza-Allen, nee Ketterman, 65, of Lombard, died Saturday, Oct. 17, in Lombard.
Funeral services will be held today, Oct 21, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Ferruzza-Allen is survived by her husband, Chip; children, Louis N. (Kathleen) Ferruzza of Lombard, Anthony (Dawn) Ferruzza, Joe (Lisa) Ferruzza and Sam (Julie) Ferruzza; stepdaughter, Abby Allen of Lombard; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Patty (the late David) Jones, Carroll Ketterman, Pam (David) Stevens and Willie (Leslie) Simmons; and stepfather, Willie N. Simmons. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis N. Ferruzza Sr.
Mrs. Ferruzza-Allen had been a resident of the Lombard and Glen Ellyn area for over 40 years. She had worked for Lombard Lincoln Mercury and also Elmhurst Lincoln Mercury. She was a family person.

Eileen Hauflaire

Eileen M. Hauflaire, longtime resident of Villa Park, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Family and friends will gather Thursday, Oct. 22, at College Church in Wheaton. Interment is private.
Mrs. Hauflaire is survived by her husband of 52 years, Frank; children, Peggy (John) Furman, Bob and Mark (Hong); six grandchildren; siblings, Natalie (the late Jack) Berger; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Lillian (the late Harris) Berger, John McGee and Jeanne MacKinnon.
Arrangements were made by DuPage Memorial Chapel.

Robert Miller

Robert J. Miller, 79, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Interment was private.
Mr. Miller is survived by his children, Susan, Linda (Dean), Kathy and Kevin; sister-in-law, Peggy; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia.
Mr. Miller was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Steinmetz High School. He received a B.A. degree from Northwestern University and was a veteran of the National Guard. He worked at Peoples Gas Co. for 41 years and continued his private accounting practice for the next 23 years.
Mr. Miller had a passion for golf, bowling, the Chicago Cubs and traveling, especially to Hayward with his fishing buddies. He was a member of the Addison Irregulars, enjoying card playing with his friends.
Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Hilma Rivan

Funeral services for Hilma C. Rivan, 97, of Villa Park, were held Saturday, Oct. 17, at St. Alexander Church Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment was at Our Lady of Sorrows/Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Rivan is survived by her children, Dr. Robert J. (Sandra), Barbara (Dennis) Doll and Thomas (Eileen); 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and was the sister-in-law of Marion, and aunt and great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V.; and siblings, Beatrice, Irene and William.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Bonnie Scheiden

Bonnie Scheiden, nee Schleicher, 84, of Elgin, formerly of Des Plaines, died Saturday, Oct. 17, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
Funeral services will be today, Oct. 21, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is at Wheaton Cemetery.
Mrs. Scheiden is survived by her children, Terri (Kevin) Novak, Sandra (Richard) Fiorini of Lombard and Bonnie Sue (the late Murph); three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; niece, Lois Fleck; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L.
Mrs. Scheiden had been a resident of Elgin since 1973. Her family had owned Scheiden Spring Gardens in South Elgin and formerly owned Scheiden Greenhouse in Des Plaines.

Gloria Sullivan

Gloria Sullivan, nee Shipov, 76, of Lombard, formerly of Villa Park, died suddenly Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 16, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Carol Stream. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her daughters, Peg (David, M.D.) Rivera of Lombard and Michele “Cookie” (Dave) Kibble of Lombard; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; and seven brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Sullivan had been a resident of Lombard for six years and was formerly of Villa Park for 37 years. She was a member of the Elmhurst American Legion Post #187 Women’s Auxiliary, Energizers of Corpus Christi Church and the 9 a.m. bowling league in Wood Dale. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Lombard and Ascension Church in Oakbrook Terrace. She was a retired office manager and “Mom” to all.

Dorothy Wickman

Dorothy L. Wickman, nee Hansen, 91, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 10, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Wickman is survived by her children, William, Larry (Debra Ann) of Lombard, Ron (Kathy) of Lombard and Dayle (Rex) Miller of Lombard; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Gladys Pedersen and Robert Hansen; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William I.; sister, Lillian (the late Roy) Christensen; and brother-in-law, George Pedersen.
Mrs. Wickman was a resident of Lombard for 54 years.
Memorials to the Palliative Care Unit, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, 200 Berteau, Elmhurst, IL 60126, would be appreciated.

Robert Zelenka

Robert Zelenka, 22, of Lombard, died Monday, Oct. 12, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 17, with prayers from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was at Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
Mr. Zelenka was the son of Robert and Lynette Zelenka; grandson of Sally Zelenka; brother of Kelly; nephew of Debbie Reynolds, Susan Zelenka, Christine Johnson and Debbie (Rodger) Blind; and cousin of many. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert C. Zelenka, and Joseph and Virginia Gallagher.
Mr. Zelenka had worked as a carpenter in fine furniture manufacturing.
