Rodney Gleason


Rodney Delane Gleason, 83, of Blue Eye, Mo., for 17 years, formerly of Lombard, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, at St. John’s Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 24, at Greenlawn Funeral Home of Branson, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating.
Mr. Gleason is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosemary Ann; children, James N. (Susan), Mary E. (Robert) Best and John P. (Dawn); four grandchildren; and brother, Robert R. (Maxine) Gleason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd R. and Olive R. Gleason; and son, David R.
Mr. Gleason was born in Vinita, Okla., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was retired after working as a consulting engineer.

Karl Hillmann


Karl W. Hillmann, 85, a lifelong resident of Lombard, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
A memorial gathering was held Saturday, Oct. 24, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, followed by a memorial service at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard.
Mr. Hillmann is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean; children, James Karl (Brenda) and Lisa D. (“Mac”) McNicholas of Lombard; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Mr. Hillmann was born in Lombard, was a 1942 Glenbard High School graduate, and was a veteran of World War II. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and from the U.S. Air Force Reserve, was a former Lombard Park District police officer and Lombard policeman, and taught shooting at the Lombard Park District. He was a fisherman, an avid photographer who had worked for Lincoln Photo, and was a member of the NRA and Aurora Gun Club. He vacationed in Hayward, Wis.

Philip Kramer


Philip A. Kramer, 75, formerly of Indianapolis and Lombard, died Friday, Oct. 23, at Elmbrook Health Care in Elmhurst.
Visitation and funeral services are being held today, Oct. 28, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mr. Kramer is survived by his children, Paul, Katie M. (David) Sivak, James F. and Maggie M. (Rob C.) Mann; nine grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann (Tom) Campbell; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Kramer was a 1956 graduate of Notre Dame.
Memorials to Habitat for Humanity would be appreciated.

Jane Krippner


A memorial visitation for Jane F. Krippner, 58, will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln Ave., Lisle.
Miss Krippner is survived by her siblings, Dave (Nan), Paul (Sue), Andy, Mary Lou Krippner (Will Sexton) and Helen (Bob) Vodicka; three nephews; devoted friend, Laurie Johnson; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Grace Vlk Krippner.
Miss Krippner was raised in Lombard.
Memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated.

Mary Landa


Mary H. Landa, nee Supej, 87, of Lombard, died Friday, Oct. 23, at Beacon Hill in Lombard.
Funeral services are being held today, Oct. 28, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Landa is survived by her children, Ron (Barb), Ken (Sharon) of Lombard, Tom (Mary Pat), Dave (Donna), Mary Landa (John Delaughter) and Jeanne (Ken) Rossal; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Viola (Robert) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C.; daughter, Sally; and siblings, Mildred Bagdonas, Rose (Clarence) Ogletree, George (Helen) Supej, Bettye (Don) Glover and Frank (Elsie) Supej.
Mrs. Landa was a 25-year resident of Lombard and was formerly of Maywood.

John Mitchell

Visitation and funeral services for John Mitchell, 78, of Villa Park, are being held today, Oct. 28, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Interment is private.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Ann Elizabeth Konefel, William Robert (Joyce) and John James (Sharon); five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Thomas Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lily Harkins.

Ruth Paul


Funeral services for Ruth K. Paul, nee Krist, 88, formerly of Villa Park, will be held Friday, Oct. 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Paul is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Stephen) Card; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and was an aunt and great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander G.; and son, Robert (Barbara).
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Bonnie Reinecke

Bonnie Jean Reinecke, 66, of Calabash, N.C., died Friday, Oct. 23.
A Mass will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 30, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Channahon, Ill. Inurnment is at Mary Queen of Heaven Cemetery Columbarium in Hillside.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 6, at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Shallotte, N.C.
Mrs. Reinecke is survived by her mother, Evelyn Zelenka Duda; husband, Richard L.; children, Robert Glenn (Patricia), Steven James (Jennifer) and Aimee Maureen (Stephen) Erickson; seven grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Regina) Duda of Lombard and Alan Duda; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Otta Duda.
Mrs. Reinecke was born in Chicago and had worked as a registered nurse, employed by Liberty Hospice until her illness. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, was president of the Carolina Shores Quilter’s Guild and was a Eucharist minister at St. Brendan’s. She volunteered at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and the Hickman’s Crossroad Branch of the Brunswick County Library.

Elizabeth Ryan


Elizabeth M. Ryan, 96 and 10 months, a longtime resident of Villa Park, died Friday, Oct. 16, at Elmhurst Extended Care Center.
Funeral services and interment were private.
Mrs. Ryan is survived by her daughters, Tara (John) Peto and Tobey (John) Scudder; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J.
Mrs. Ryan will be remembered for her love of animals.

Stefan Staev


Stefan S. Staev, 26, of Lombard, died suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 26, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Staev is survived by his parents, Stoyan and Elka of Lombard; and sister, Monika of Lombard.
Mr. Staev was a graduate of Niles West High School and received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois, Chicago, where he was a top swimmer. He was thought of as an amazing person.
