Elaine Andre

Funeral services for Elaine M. Andre, 75, of Lombard, were held Saturday, Aug. 29, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Andre is survived by her children, Kristian (Susan), Lisa (Dan) Peterson, Karla (Michael) Marino, Sara (Doug) Burns, Susanne (John) Wolfe and John (Kelly); and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl John.

Clara Andrews


Clara Nettie Andrews, nee Johansen (formerly Clara Hamann), 87, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Brighton Gardens in Hoffman Estates.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 27, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with the Rev. Brian Felker Jones of Faith United Methodist Church officiating.
Mrs. Andrews is survived by her children, Connie (Gordon) Shepherd, Judy (Jim) England, Bill (Nancy) and Jim (Linda); 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Henry “Hank” Johansen and Robert “Bob” Johansen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester; daughter, Karen (Ed) Schneider; siblings, Vivian M. Gengler and Donald R. Johansen; sister-in-law, Nancy Johansen; and parents, Henry and Nettie Mae Johansen.
The eldest of five children, Mrs. Andrews was born in Crown Point, Ind., and was a resident of Lombard for 32 years. She was a longtime active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Lombard.

Marianne Austin


Marianne Austin, formerly of Lombard and Harlingen, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug.. 25, in Kingwood, Texas.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Miller Funeral Chapel, 7723 Beechnut, Houston.
Mrs. Austin is survived by her children, Leslie, Robert and Steven and their family members, and sister, Helga and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Jim, whom she met while working at a U.S. Army base in Giessen.
Mrs. Austin was born in Gassen, Germany, and fled before the advance of the Russian Army in 1944. She was a PTA member, den mother, band booster, choir member, bowler, community play-house participant and supporter of the arts. Later in life the Austins traveled extensively and settled in Kingwood for the last 10 years. She was known for her selflessness and genuine concern she always had for everyone.

Salvatore Dellutri


Salvatore “Sam” Dellutri, 93, of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Elmhurst, died Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 28, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elmhurst. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Dellutri is survived by his children, George (Carol) and Donna; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa.
Mr. Dellutri was a veteran of World War II, where he served on a PT boat in the U.S. Navy. He was a longtime manager of The House of Vision in Elmhurst and was a life member of the VFW.
Arrangements were made by Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary, 435 N. York Road, Elmhurst.

Louis Fioti


Funeral services for Louis F. Fioti, 66, of Lombard, were held Tuesday, Sept. 1, from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard.
Mr. Fioti is survived by his wife, Carol Sue; children, John (Jennifer), Juliana (Robert) Szczekpanik, Frank (Norene) and Thomas; four grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Joseph, Isabella (Ronald) Gebien and Maria Stanard; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Fioti.
Mr. Fioti was a member of the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local #130 U.A.

Frank Henkel


Frank R. Henkel, 77, of Lombard, died Friday, Aug. 28, at Central DuPage Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 31, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Henkel is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, William R. (Deborah) of Lombard and Cathy R. McShane of Lombard; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Maureen Henkel; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack.
Mr. Henkel had been a resident of Lombard since 1956. He was a member of Meatcutters Local #189 and had worked in the industry for 45 years, lastly for Dominicks for over 25 years, and had retired in 1995.
Mr. Henkel was a member of Sacred Heart Church, for six years had worked as a volunteer at the DuPage Convalescent Home and played volleyball for over 25 years at Lombard PTA League #44. He was an avid sports fan, loved to travel and loved his grandchildren and the time he spent with them.

Rena Hosto


Rena J. Hosto, nee Bass, 98, of Lombard, died Thursday, Aug. 27, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 31, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake.
Mrs. Hosto is survived by her son, Charles (Peggie); three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, J.C. (Charlene) Bass; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur.
Mrs. Hosto received her R.N. degree at Cook County Hospital, where she had worked for many years in the neurology department.

Elva Jones


Elva P. Jones, nee Peasley, 87, of Lombard, died Monday, Aug. 24, at Elmhurst Extended Care in Elmhurst.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Aug. 27, at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, at Maple Street Chapel in Lombard.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her brothers, Paul (Mary) and Edwin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C.; parents, Lawson Sr. and Mamie Peasley; and siblings, Helen Gravitt, and Dorothy, Clifford, Melvin, John and Lawson Peasley Jr.
Mrs. Jones was a longtime resident of Lombard and had been a resident of Elmhurst Extended Care for seven years. She was a graduate of Bloomington High School. She had worked for and retired from Meyer, Meyer and Albers Medical Clinic in Lombard after over 15 years.
Memorials to Shriner’s Hospital for Children-Chicago, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707-3392, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Elizabeth Kadlec


Funeral services for Elizabeth L. Kadlec, 92, of Libertyville, formerly of Villa Park, are being held today, Sept. 2, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Entombment is at Wood Lawn Mausoleum.
Mrs. Kadlec is survived by her children, Carol (Paul) Durietz and Francine (Robert) Maatman; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, with one great-grandson to be born in September to honor her 93rd birthday.

Wayne Labak


Wayne Labak, of Villa Park, died Sunday, Aug. 30, in Villa Park.
Funeral services are being held today, Sept. 2, with prayers from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at Ascension of Our Lord Church, with the Rev. Damien Graziano officiating. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Labak is survived by aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Natalie “Tillie” Labak.
Mr. Labak was a graduate of Willowbrook High School and was the owner of Wayne’s Lawn Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the York Center Park District would be appreciated.

Lena Maracich


Lena M. Maracich, nee Tufo, of Lombard, died Monday, Aug. 24, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 27, at Christ Church of Oak Brook, with the Rev. Kenneth Lehman officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Maracich is survived by her children, Lawrence (Vickie) Carvelli, Donna Castelbuono, and Louis (Sherry) Carvelli; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Rosemary (the late Peter) Barsanti. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Maracich; and one sister and three brothers.
Mrs. Maracich had worked as a bookkeeper for National Van Lines Moving Co.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society or Marianjoy Rehabilitation Center would be appreciated.

Lucille Mezydlo


Lucille Mezydlo, nee Zawacki, 92, of Lombard, died Monday, Aug. 24, at Beacon Hill Health Center in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 29, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was at Christ the King Cemetery in Wonder Lake, Ill.
Mrs. Mezydlo is survived by her children, Judith McDonald and Donald (Mary); five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; and son-in-law, John “Jack” McDonald.
Mrs. Mezydlo was a resident of Beacon Hill for eight years, formerly resided in Wonder Lake for 24 years and prior to that was of the Garfield Ridge neighborhood in Chicago. She was known as the “Harmonica Lady” at Beacon Hill.
