Dorothy Bell


Dorothy D. Bell, nee De Moss, 79, of Lombard, died Monday, April 5, at Lexington Health Care in Elmhurst.
Visitation will be held today, April 7, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 8, at First United Methodist Church in Lombard. Interment is at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her sons, David (Mary), Jeffrey (Tina) and Larry (Gail); 13 grandchildren; siblings, Clarence (Barbara) De Moss and Kay (Arthur) Buckley; sister-in-law, Margaret (Ray) Acton; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and endless friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James.
Mrs. Bell was a resident of Lombard for 50 years and been a resident of Lexington Square in Elmhurst since 2003. She grew up in Villa Park and was a graduate of York High School, and was a former member of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Guild. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lombard.
Memorials to the Deicke Home, 1005 E. Division St., Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Lauren Curry

Lauren M. Curry, 64, of Villa Park, died Saturday, April 3.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mrs. Curry is survived by her children, Steven (Wendy) and Jennifer; four grandchildren; mother, Anne Carellas; sister, MaryAnne (Joseph) Fitzgerald; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Gus Carellas; and sister, Irene Carellas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society would be appreciated.

Boleslaus Cwiklik

Funeral services for Boleslaus P. “Ben” Cwiklik, 89, of Villa Park, were held Tuesday, April 6, from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Church. Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery.
Mr. Cwiklik is survived by his children, Mariane (Patrick) Maher, Len (Susan), Laurel (Alan) Walker, Jan Peters, Joan (Michael) Jendro, Joe and John; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); stepchildren, Suzanne Doddy and Garland (Penny) Urban; brother, Frank (Irene); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, Evelyn and Mary; and siblings, Aloyisous (Frances) Cwiklik, Ann (Walter) Gabrysiak and Florence Panozzo.
Mr. Cwiklik was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served during World War II.

Hazel Gariepy

Hazel Gariepy, 91, passed away March 24 in Lake Zurich.

Mrs. Gariepy is survived by her husband of 70 years, John; daughters, Margo Rogalin Gariepy of Florida and Susan Gariepy Johnson of Wonder Lake; daughter-in-law, Sibylle Gariepy of Woodstock; grandsons, John and Paul of Woodstock; and great-grandson John Thomas of Woodstock. She was preceded in death by her son, John Louis.

Mrs. Gariepy was a longtime resident of Lombard before retiring to Florida.

Arrangements were made by Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home of Crystal Lake.

William Gradishar

William T. Gradishar, 77, formerly of Westchester, died Thursday, April 1.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 5, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Divine Providence Church in Westchester. Interment was private.
Mr. Gradishar is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, William J., M.D. (Cynthia), Thomas A., James M. (Julie) of Lombard and Marie T.; six grandchildren; sister, Gloria Schiffler; sister-in-law, Lois; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, John and Mary; and brothers-in-law, Thorville Jorgensen and William Schiffler.
Mr. Gradishar was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

John Knopf

John Raymond “Jack” Knopf, 70, of Lombard, died Friday, March 26.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 17, at Community Presbyterian Church of Lombard.
Mr. Knopf is survived by his children, John W. (Carol), Matthew L. (Mary Beth), Maria L., Sarah E. (Joel) Kralicek (the children of Charlotte L. Knopf, his former spouse); siblings, Joanne L. Knopf, William A. Knopf, Betty J. Mackin and Jim F. Knopf; companion, Nancy Knuepfer; and many friends.
Mr. Knopf was a 1957 graduate of Elmwood Park High School, served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a lance corporal from 1960-66 and graduated from the Pattern Makers’ Association of Chicago in 1962. He worked with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for 50 years and was the owner of Jack’s Remodeling from 1973-82.
Mr. Knopf was a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 57 from 1981-87. He loved to play cards, travel, cook, watch romantic movies and drink a good Manhattan; and was considered to be a true “Jack of All Trades” as a carpenter, electrician, plumber and master fix-it-all. He was known for being always ready with a smile to share, a joke to tell and a helping hand to lend.

Kenneth Krause

Funeral services for Kenneth S. Krause, 53, formerly of York Center, were held Tuesday, April 6, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Krause is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; children, Jennifer and Jason; and siblings, Richard (Susan), Carl (Sue) and Howard. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Krause.
Mr. Krause was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Nancy Lopez

Nancy Lopez, nee Moore, of Huntley, formerly of Oak Park, died Friday, March 26, in Huntley.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 6, at St. Alexander Church Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Lopez is survived by her children, Ed (Mary) and Kelly Lopez (Chip Egan); six grandchildren; and siblings, George (Dottie) Moore, Dan (Pat) Moore, Tim (Jennifer) Moore, Kay (Chuck) Dutton, Mike (Pattie) Moore, Mary Helen Moore and Jim (Anne) Moore; and was the aunt and great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon; grandson, Joey; sister, Patricia (Dennis) Walle; and nieces, Brideen Moore and Kathy Moore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin or JDRF of Illinois would be appreciated.

Anne McAndless

Anne Marie McAndless, 91, of Henry, formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, March 30, at HCR Manor Care in Henry.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 5, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. McAndless is survived by her children, Janet (Greg) Balzer, Rick and H. Dennis; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E.; daughter, Karen; and siblings, Gertrude, Clarence, Harold and Edward.
Mrs. McAndless was a resident of Lombard from 1954-79 and was a former member of the Lombard Bible Church. She was known as a devoted wife and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, reading and singing. She was active in her church as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, superintendent and Women’s Society member.

Michelle Miller

Funeral services and interment for Michelle D. Miller, 49, of Villa Park, are private.
Ms. Miller is survived by her parents, Virginia Miller and Robert (Mary) Miller; siblings, Robert Miller, Tracy Miller, Brian Miller and Tim Ballentine; and aunt, Virginia Lehmann.

Donald Sharp

Donald C. Sharp, 89, of Lombard, died Sunday, April 4, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 8, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Sharp is survived by his wife, Elaine G.; daughters, Laura Perry of Lombard, Linda (Christopher) Orlicz, Barbara (Michael) Brinkman and Donna Keppner; nine grandchildren; brother, Gordon Sharp; sister-in-law, Marilynn Sharp; 12 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives.
Mr. Sharp was a resident of Lombard since 1965. He was born and raised in Chicago, was a 1938 graduate of Harper High School in Chicago and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the Pacific. He retired after working as a technical writer and had worked for Admiral, Rockwell International and Westcom. He liked to be at home with his family, enjoyed gardening and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard.

Joan Szatkowski

Joan Szatkowski, nee Dymowski, 87, died Sunday, April 4, in Downers Grove.
Funeral services and interment are private.
Mrs. Szatkowski is survived by her children, Karen Khurana and Steven (Nancy); and six grandchildren; and was the aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; and two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Szatkowski had worked as a billing clerk for Walgreens.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
