John Halpin


John J. (Jack) Halpin, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 15.
Funeral services are being held today, Aug. 18, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Halpin is survived by his children, Dianne (James) Luebker, Michael (Carol), Terrence and Donna (Alan) Dunfee; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, June C.
Mr. Halpin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.

Susan Jablonsky

Susan J. Jablonsky, 61, of Middleton, Wis., formerly of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, in Wisconsin.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 16, with prayers from Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Ms. Jablonsky is survived by her father, Anthony Jablonsky; siblings, Mary and Warren (Colleen); nephews and niece, Jack and Tim Jablonsky and Claire Jablonsky; and best friend, Zoe. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia.
Ms. Jablonsky was a 1966 graduate of Willowbrook High School, and received her B.S. degree from the University of Illinois and M.S. degree from Illinois State University, both in psychology. She worked for the state of Wisconsin for over 30 years in the Audit Bureau where, for most of those years, she was responsible for the budget for many important state social programs. She cared deeply for those in need and worked hard to keep these programs viable, especially during these difficult economic times; her efforts provided much needed assistance for many people in Wisconsin.
Ms. Jablonsky lived in Germany for several years, which spurred her interest in foreign travel. She loved traveling throughout Europe, and also visited Morocco, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia and Canada. She especially enjoyed a trip to Alaska with close friends and celebrating the millennium at the Rose Bowl. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and dog at the family cottage on Lake Michigan. She enjoyed her time there cooking and baking for her family. She was also an avid Cubs fan.

Conrad Osborn

Conrad M. Osborn, 81, of Lombard, died Monday, Aug. 9, at Manor Care in Westmont.
A memorial gathering was held Thursday, Aug. 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Osborn is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Donald (Lixing), Connie (Ken) Hass of Lombard and Katherine Rauenzahn of Lombard; five grandchildren; and cousins, Jane D’Amico and William W. Swayne.
Mr. Osborn was a resident of Lombard since 1971. He was a 1953 graduate of West Point and was a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. He served as a lay reader when he attended St. Mary Magdalen Episcopal Church in Villa Park and St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Downers Grove.

Rev. Robert Schuler

The Rev. Robert J. Schuler, died Wednesday, Aug. 11.
A funeral Mass was held Monday, Aug. 16, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Clarendon Hills. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Rev. Schuler is survived by his siblings, Bill, Barbara (the late Patrick) Murray, Betty (Paul) Micek, Peggy (George) Sommins, Jeannie Papacek and Cathie Brechtel; 19 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Schuler; and sister, Mary Jo Schuler.
Rev. Schuler was the pastor of Notre Dame Catholic Church for the past 14 years. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 3, 1989.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Notre Dame Parish Improvement Fund would be appreciated.

Daniel Westbrook

Daniel Westbrook, 66, of Carol Stream, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 16, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Westbrook is survived by his wife, Gae; children, Scot (Amy) and Vicki Lynn (Robert) Muncy; four grandchildren; siblings, Richard (Tanis) and Don (Diane) Plant; mother, Jean Plant; seven nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Robert) Clements and Rae (Jerry) Novak.
Mr. Westbrook was born in Buffalo, where he grew up and graduated from Kenmore High School. He had been a resident of Carol Stream for 36 years and was formerly of Glendale Heights. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1962-66. He had retired after working as a warehouse foreman and enjoyed woodworking.
