Paul Dempsey

A memorial gathering for Paul Patrick Dempsey, 44, of Lombard, will be held Friday, Aug. 27, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mr. Dempsey is survived by his wife, Laura; and children, Olivia and Sean. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Katherine Dempsey.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Andrzej Fiedor

Andrzej M. Fiedor, 49, of Carol Stream, died suddenly in Flagstaff, Ariz.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Divine Mercy Polish Mission Church in Lombard. Interment is at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
Mr. Fiedor is survived by his daughters, Patricia, Joanna (Mario) Tracz and Paula; three grandchildren; sisters, Rozalia and Halina (Frank) Murphy; many nieces and nephews; and friend and former wife, Margaret Fiedor.
Mr. Fiedor grew up in Poland and was a resident of Carol Stream for five years and was formerly of New York. He was a truck driver.

William Grove

Funeral services for William K. Grove, 72, of Villa Park, are being held today, Aug. 25, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Interment will be at a family plot.
Mr. Grove is survived by his wife, Judith A., whom he married in 1959; sons, William R. (Melissa Henderson) and Michael K.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Marian Grove; and sister, Patricia Grove.
Mr. Grove was a 45-year resident of Villa Park. He was born in Indiana and graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville. He was a trainee at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Jacksonville from 1959-64 and worked in various departments at Sears Roebuck headquarters in Chicago from 1964-91.
Mr. Grove was an avid and enthusiastic square dancer from 1964 to 2004, was a lifelong Charlie Brown/Peanuts fan and was also a lover of New Orleans-style music and jazz.
Donations to the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

John Hamann

John Arthur Hamann, 67, died suddenly Saturday, Aug. 21.
Visitation is today, Aug. 25, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 26, at Community Congregational Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook.
Mr. Hamann is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jalaine; children, Jeffrey (Gina), James (Katherine) and Julie; two grandchildren; and sister, Joanne (Dale) Sargeant.
Mr. Hamann was a teacher at Willowbrook High School for 34 years and a coach for 38 years.

Richard Kane

Richard H. Kane, 62, of Plainfield, died Thursday, Aug. 19.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 24, from Anderson Memorial Chapel, 606 Townhall Drive, Romeoville, to Mass at St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Mr. Kane is survived by his wife, Judy Fox; children, Rick (Debbie), Kristin and Colleen; three grandchildren; siblings, Peggy (Dan) McGrath, Peter (Pat) Kane, Loretta (Dave) Golden and Joan (Len) Fletcher; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Marguerite Kane; and sister, Mary Zaeske.
Mr. Kane was a math teacher at Montini High School in Lombard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) would be preferred.

Mae Pedersen

Mae Rose Pedersen, 85, of Lombard, died Friday, Aug. 20, at Lexington Healthcare Center in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mrs. Pedersen is survived by her children, Don of Lombard, David (Susan) and Donna Krencius; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Violet Studtmann. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Melvin F.; and brother-in-law, Marshall Studtmann.
Mrs. Pedersen was chairwoman for Neighborhood Charities, including Muscular Dystrophy and Leukemia for Kids. She also volunteered at Hines V.A. Hospital and enjoyed traveling, walking, biking and taking care of everybody. She loved her coffee and chocolate.

Mildred Prinke

Mildred A. “Lee” Prinke, nee Cizek, died Sunday, Aug. 22.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, at Community Congregational Church in Villa Park.
Mrs. Prinke is survived by her husband of 63 years, John; sons, Scott (Marne) and Paul (Peggy); and four grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Donald Reid

Donald T. Reid, 67, of Winfield, died Saturday, Aug. 21, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Mr. Reid is survived by his daughter, Tracy (Thomas) Glenn; two grandchildren; sisters, Peggy (Al) Knez and Jackie Reid; and dear friend and former wife, Lynn Reid.
Mr. Reid was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
