Fred Bingen

Funeral services for Fred S. Bingen Jr., 68, of Villa Park, were held Monday, Nov. 29, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at Ascension of Our Lord Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Bingen is survived by his wife, Laverne; children, Michael (Nancy), Scott and Christopher (Sharon); seven grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert Jelen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Edward Jelen.
Memorials to Children’s Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.

Shirley Hejda

Shirley A. Hejda, 74, of Lombard, died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, surrounded by her family.
She was a devoted single mother to Judi (Roberto) and Tom (Irena); grandmother to Sara, Rob, Alex, Jessica, Joey, Cody, Colin, Joshua, Alisha and Mercedes; sister of Charles; and friend of many. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nancy.
Shirley was retired after working as a computer operator for Safeguard Business Systems. She loved her pets and all living things, and had a heart of gold. To all who knew her: Enjoy life. Take it one day at a time.
Cremation and memorial service are pending.

Richard Perrault Sr.

Richard F. Perrault Sr., 75, of Lombard, died Sunday, Nov. 21, in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 29, with prayers from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. John Guiney officiating. Interment was private.
Mr. Perrault is survived by his wife, Ida; children, Dianne (James) Perrone and Richard F. Jr.; three grandchildren; and brother, Robert Perrault.
Mr. Perrault had worked as director of development for American Judicature Society for over 30 years. He was an active volunteer at Christ the King Parish and many other organizations.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Christ the King’s food pantry; or Thumbuddy Special, P.O. Box 145, Downers Grove, IL 60515, would be appreciated.

Albert Szczepaniak, Jr.

Albert Anthony Szczepaniak, Jr., 78, passed on to eternal life on Friday morning, Nov. 26, 2010. He had suffered with congestive heart failure for several years. Albert lived in Lombard, Ill., for the past 43 years.

A Memorial Service will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Lombard, Ill., on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at 10 a.m.  Interment will be private. 
Albert is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Darlynn Frances, nee Trandell; his five children and their spouses: Michel-Jean, Kathryn Mary (Jeff Schohn), Andrew Francis (Sondra, nee Bergum), Anthony Joseph (Jill, nee Bocan), and Stacey Ann (Randy DenBraven); and his seven grandchildren: Megan Alexandra, Rebecca Lynn, Adam Robert, Allison Elizabeth, Connor Anthony, Samantha Ann and Noah Benjamin. His wife and family love and miss him.

Albert was born in Chicago, Ill., on Aug. 13, 1932. He  was a loyal husband and father, proud of his Polish heritage. He volunteered for military service in Korea in the immediate aftermath of the armistice. He received his B.A. in Education from Illinois State University. Albert was known for his sharp sense of humor and his commitment to justice issues, whether personal or social. He was always willing to lend a hand to help whenever asked. Albert worked in the data processing and information management fields.
The family requests no flowers, but donations can be made in Albert's name to your charity of choice.

Phyllis Thompson

Funeral services and interment for Phyllis P. Thompson, 94, of Lombard, formerly of Evanston, will be private.
Mrs. Thompson was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence M. Thompson; loving mother of Lawrence M., Jr. (Barbara), Charles T. (Barbara), Philip C. (Therese), Robert E. (Chantal), Hope T. (Michael) Haberer and Hollis T. (Ronald) Gemkow; proud and loving grandmother of Margaret, Todd, Phyllis, Susan, Katie, Clare, Ellen, Caitlin, Jeff, Lindsay, Joe, Greg, Beth, Laura, Mike and John; and great grandmother of Jack, Harvey, Jillian and James.
Mrs. Thompson was a 1938 graduate of the University of Illinois, Phi Beta Kappa.

Judith Wall

Judith C. Wall, 53, of Glen Ellyn, died Thursday, Nov. 18.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park. Burial has taken place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, Calif., on Friday, Nov. 26.
Mrs. Wall is survived by her daughter, Margaret; parents, William and Barbara Hayden; siblings, Katherine Hayden, Delia (Joseph) Caracappa, James Hayden, Julia (Ronald) Levengood and William (Kellie) Hayden; and many nieces and nephews.

Norma Wantling

Norma C. Wantling died Thursday, Nov. 18, in Grants Pass, Ore.
A memorial service is planned for mid-January at First United Methodist Church of Lombard.
She was a longtime resident of Lombard.
