Martin Bourgart

Visitation and funeral services for Martin “Jack” Bourgart, 87, will be Thursday, Dec. 30, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Mr. Bourgart is survived by his daughters, Linda (Larry) O’Neal and Susan (Edward) Leninger; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and siblings, Thomas (Dot) Bourgart and Gladys Kulzer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel E.
Mr. Bourgart was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Caroline Bowman

Caroline Ann Bowman, nee Lund, age 90, passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Ironwood, Mich.
A memorial service celebrating Carol’s life was held at Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Faith Community United Church of Christ, 192 South Center St., Bensenville, Ill. Inurnment was at Mount Emblem Cemetery, in Elmhurst, Ill.
Mrs. Bowman is survived by her daughter, Gail Bowman; son, Clyde Bowman; grandchildren, Mikal Bowman, Kurt Bowman, and Courtney Bowman; sisters, Lucille Austin and Lillian Williams; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Edward; and brothers, Colonel Lund, Clifford Lund and Gordon Lund.
After a long and successful career as a bookkeeper, Mrs. Bowman devoted many hours in her community as a volunteer. She was president of the Elmhurst (Illinois) Memorial Hospital Guild, and was a member of the Lioness and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Carol was also an active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Bensenville, Ill.

Josephine Clarke

Josephine Clarke, nee Esposito, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 24, from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Clarke is survived by her husband of 58 years, James; children, Jim, Anthony (Laurene), Raymond (Tammy), Janet (John) Clarke-Platt and Peggy (Steve) Sabatino; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Michael (Jeannie) Esposito; sister-in-law, Charlotte (Murray) Baillie; brothers-in-law, John (Judy), Charles, Robert and Frank (Helene); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Carmella Esposito; siblings, Ralph Esposito, Nick Umano, Julia Sylvester and Carmella “mulu” DeMartino; brother-in-law, Raymond; and sister-in-law, Fran.
Mrs. Clarke spent the majority of her life showering all those who knew her with love and understanding, whether it be through a cup of coffee at her kitchen table, a listening ear, or a seat at the table with a homemade Italian meal or pastry to enjoy. She had worked at St. Paul Federal Bank in Lombard for many years and was a friend to all who came in contact with her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that random acts of kindness be shown in Josephine’s memory, remembering always the kindness she showed to all who knew and loved her.

Chester Gryczan Sr.

Chester W. Gryczan Sr., 76, of Lombard, died Friday, Dec. 17, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 20, at Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary, 435 N. York Road, Elmhurst. Interment was private.
Mr. Gryczan was the loving husband of Frances, nee Deak; dear father of Deborah (Alice Madden) Gryczan, Cheryl (the late Edward) Klee, Linda Dempster, Chester (Krista) Gryczan Jr. and the late Janice (Henry) Geberbauer; cherished grandfather of Amanda and Monica Klee, Nicholas and Daniel Dempster and Grant, Scott and Kyla Gryczan; and brother of Louis (Louretta), Mildred (William) Koziatek, Irene (Dave) Daul and the late Walter, Lil, Alice and Dorothy.
Mr. Gryczan was a 55-year resident of Lombard and was retired after working as a tool and die maker with Gilbert Spring Co. of Chicago.

Louise Javra

Louise Javra, nee Totz, 56, of Mountain Home, Ark., died suddenly in Arkansas.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 31, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with her son’s funeral. Cremation was held in Arkansas.
Ms. Javra is survived by her son, Ben Javra of Villa Park; and siblings, Sheryl (Timothy) Doyle, Harold Totz, Hal Totz, Janice Totz, Lois Anderson and David Davis. She was preceded in death by her son, Victor A. Robles.
Ms. Javra grew up in St. Cloud, Minn. She was a resident of Arkansas since 2006 and was formerly of Lombard for 10 years and Brandywine in Villa Park for six years. She had worked as a business manager for the Diocese of Joliet, Church of St. Anthony. She was a classical music enthusiast and wine connoisseur, talented cook and baker.

George Kelderhouse

George Kelderhouse, 80, of Lombard, died suddenly Dec. 25 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 29, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services are being held Thursday, Dec. 30, at Lombard Bible Church in Lombard. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.
Mr. Kelderhouse is survived by his wife, Barbara, whom he married in 1951; children, Susan Sittig, Judith (Glenn) Syrstad and Jim (Lisa); six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by six brothers and and a sister.
Mr. Kelderhouse was a resident of Lombard since 1955. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a tank crewman during the Korean War. He had retired from Prudential Insurance and Jewel Foods, and was very active in the Lombard Bible Church. He was a member of the POC Retirement Club, was an avid bowler and golfer, and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.

James Kulakowski

Funeral services for James S. Kulakowski, 84, of Villa Park, are being held today, Dec. 29, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at Ascension of Our Lord Church. Interment is at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Kulakowski is survived by his children, Pat (Jim) Thompson, Jane Potter and James (Kim); four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica.
Mr. Kulakowski was a veteran of World War II.

Catherine Morman

Visitation for Catherine D. Morman, nee Dolan, 94, is being held today, Dec. 29, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment is at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
Mrs. Morman is survived by her children, Gregory (Linda), Mary Ann (P.J.) O’Connor, Nancy Morman (Dan) McNeil and Dawn (Manuel) Capistran; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard F.; and brother, Harold “Casey” (Leona) Dolan.
Mrs. Morman was the owner of Stop n Chat in Westmont from 1967 to 2002.

Bern Puzan

Bern Puzan, 83, died peacefully at home Dec. 23. Services are being held Thursday, Dec 30, at Gibbons Funeral Home in Elmhurst: Visitation at 5 p.m. with the service at 6:30. A reception will follow the service.
Bern is survived by his loving wife, Anne; children, Maggie, Jim, Kathy and Sue; and brother, Ray. Bern and his family have lived in Lombard since 1958.

Victor Robles

Victor A. Robles, 20, of Villa Park, died suddenly in Arkansas.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 31, at the funeral home. Interment is at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Robles is survived by his father, Aurelio M.; siblings, Ben Javra of Villa Park, Aurelio (Rosa) Robles III and Selena (Ralph) Mendoza; six nieces and nephews; six aunts and uncles; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Javra.
Mr. Robles was a resident of Villa Park and was a 2008 graduate of Willowbrook High School. He was a full-time student at College of DuPage, where he was working on a second associate degree, in pre-pharmacy. He had earned a first associate degree with high honors and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. When he was not studying, Victor enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, working out and playing video games.

Dorothy Runge

Dorothy Marie Runge, nee Koop, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 24, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Runge is survived by her children, Mary Susan (Christopher) Runge-Smith, Cathleen (Steven) Ceislak, Jude, Jean (Vincent) Versaci, Frederick (Karen), Philip (Virginia), Margaret (Anthony) Fasano, Michael (Libby) and William; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean (Al) Nickele and Richard Koop; and sisters-in-law, Joanne Koop and Colette Jungles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, whom she married in 1947; grandchild, Shari Lynn Wood; brother, Philip Koop; sister-in-law, Dorothy Koop; and brother-in-law, Edward Jungles.
Mrs. Runge attended Providence High School and was a homemaker.
