Jose Castro

Jose R. Castro, 79, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Castro is survived by his wife, Alicia; children, Miguel (Zoila), Jorge of Lombard, Maria of Lombard, Hector (Maria), Sergio, Alcia of Lombard, Edgar of Lombard and Christian; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Jose (Carmen), Nicholas (Rosa), Felipe, Margarita, Amelia, Marina and Chela; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Noe.
Mr. Castro was one of the original owners of Pepe’s Mexican Restaurants in Lombard, Addison, Aurora, Joliet and Chicago.

James Cronin

Visitation for James W. Cronin, 90, of Bensenville, formerly of Elmhurst, will be today, Dec. 8, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home. Interment is at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Cronin is survived by his wife, Lowain; children, Terry (Perry) Wilson, Cindy (Gerry) Rosenwinkel, Jim (Ma Lou) and Randy (Kim); and three grandchildren.

Fred Kitzmiller

Fred S. Kitzmiller, 86, of Villa Park, died Thursday, Dec. 2.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 6, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Kitzmiller is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Terry) Kasprzak; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Norma Jean Tucker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen C.; daughter, Janet (Jan) Hartgernik; and seven brothers and sisters.
Mr. Kitzmiller was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Memorials to the March of Dimes would be appreciated.

Nicholi Leschuck

Visitation and funeral services for Nicholi “Nick” Leschuck, 59, of Lombard, will be today, Dec. 8, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment is private.
Mr. Leschuck is survived by his wife of 19 years, Debbie; daughter, Analyse Rossi; one granddaughter; siblings, Alexia Kroll and Tania Leschuck; brothers-in-law, Nicholas (Diane) Rossi and Robert (Marilou) Rossi-Catani; and five nieces and nephews.

LaVergne Lucchesi

A memorial visitation for LaVergne Lillian Lucchesi, 85, of Clarks Green, Pa., formerly of Villa Park, will be held Sunday, Dec. 12, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is Monday, Dec. 13, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mrs. Lucchesi is survived by her children, Lawrence (Mary Kay) and Gayle (Larry) Snell; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert.

Charles O’Deay

Charles A. O’Deay, 62, died Thursday, Dec. 2.
Funeral services are being held today, Dec. 8, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is private.
Mr. O’Deay is survive by his wife, Cynthia; and children, Heather (Daniel) Verstat, Melissa (Christopher) Szydelko and Sean (Kaitlyn).
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Albert Reitsma III

Funeral services for Albert Reitsma III, 63, of Lombard, were held Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Christ Church of Oak Brook. Interment was at Bronswood Cemetery.
Mr. Reitsma is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Patricia (Brian) Scholtens, Craig (Jessica) and Christina; mother, Grace (William) Wolbert; mother-in-law, Bernice Zwart; three grandchildren; brothers, Randy (Patricia) and Gary (Rhonda) Reitsma; stepbrother and stepsister, Ed (Gina) Wolbert and Nancy Schmidt; brother-in-law, Eildert (Mary Etta) Zwart; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Reitsma; and father-in-law, Derk Zwart.

Margaret Runge

Funeral services for Margaret B. Runge, nee Boyd, 89, were held Friday, Dec. 3, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Runge is survived by her children, Joan (the late Timothy) Murphy, Robert (Linda) and Jean (Timothy) Hockensmith; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A.

Patricia Taylor

Patricia Walsh Taylor, of Savannah, Ga., formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, in Savannah.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children, Lourdes (Ken) Schoen, Michelle (Keith) Holman, Jacqueline (Jed) Brebner, Moira (Frank) Castro, Kieran, Chris (Angela) and Megan (Adam) Taylor Becksmith; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Sr. Jude Walsh RSM and May (Roy) Loncon; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Spalding; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Eugene Hoban “Hobe”; sister, Sr. Betty Walsh RSM; and parents, Charles V. and Mildred Power Walsh.
Mrs. Walsh was a beloved mother, friend, athlete and educator in her hometown, as well as her adopted home in the Chicago area, where she lived from 1957 to 2006 and taught at St. Pius X Elementary School in Lombard. She was a 1954 graduate of Mount St. Agnes College in Baltimore, where she played basketball and field hockey.
A coach and referee for many years, Mrs. Walsh was also a devotee of Notre Dame football and attended every home game for nearly 50 years.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the St. Pius X Parish School Scholarship Fund, 601 S. Westmore Ave., Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Rory Turyna

Rory J. Turyna, 56, died suddenly, Nov. 28, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 3, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Turyna is survived by his companion, Diane M. Larsen; children, Kellie Lynn and Ryan Jay (Lindsey); five grandchildren; parents, Joseph and Joyce of Lombard; stepdaughter, Diane (Troy) Susmarski; brothers, Scott (Suzette) and Brad of Lombard; five nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, other cousins and relatives.
Mr. Turyna spent his entire life in Lombard from 1962 to the present. He graduated from Lincoln School, Lombard Junior High School and Glenbard East High School in 1972. He attended College of DuPage and worked for Eloquence Specialty Meats in Northbrook. He loved to hunt and fish and was a former bowler.
