Roberta Bley


Roberta Ruth Bley, nee Donaldson, 83, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Lexington Health Care in Lombard.
Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Bley is survived by her sister, Lois Spyra; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F.
Mrs. Bley was a resident of Lombard for 56 years. She was a graduate of Grinnell College and had worked as a physical therapist in this area for many years. She was active in women’s fellowship at First Church of Lombard, where she was a member, and had been an avid supporter of the Maple Street Chapel.
Memorials to First Church of Lombard or the Maple Street Chapel, both at 220 S. Main St., Lombard, IL 60148 would be appreciated.

Kendra Bowen

Kendra D. Bowen, 18, of Lombard, died suddenly Sunday, Feb. 21, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Ms. Bowen is survived by her father, Raymond T. (Helen) Zukowski Jr. of Lombard; mother, Katherine A. Bowen; siblings, Margie McCaleb of Lombard, Amanda (Hooper) Hetterscheid, Nicole Zukowski, Allie Thomas, Raymond T. III and William McCaleb; grandparents, Raymond T. Zukowski, Marjorie (Robert) Malahy and Harold Bowen; and many aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kristen Bowen; and grandmother, Mary Bowen.
Ms. Bowen attended Willowbrook High School, and had attended Jefferson Junior High and Shafer Elementary schools.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to TEARS (Targeting Education Awareness of Rail Road Safety), 902 E. St. Charles Road, Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Nicholas Brown

Nicholas W. “Nick” Brown, 29, of Lombard, died suddenly Monday, Feb. 22.
A gathering at the family home, 402 S. Lewis, Lombard, will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, from 3-8 p.m.
Mr. Brown is survived by his daughter, Haylee Steineke; mother, Kristin G. Davidson (Blake Wunderlich) of Lombard; sisters, Melissa (John) Gelfand, Rebecca Brown and Courtney Brown of Lombard; stepsister, Katherine Wunderlich; grandmother, Georgene M. Davidson of Lombard; grandfather, Joseph F. Brown; two nephews; aunt and uncle, James and Judi Davidson of Lombard; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Brown; grandfather, Richard Davidson; and grandmother, Gloria Brown.
Mr. Brown was a lifelong resident of Lombard. He had attended Jackson Junior High School and was a 2000 graduate of Willowbrook High School. He had worked for United Van Lines Movers in Addison.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to your favorite charity would be appreciated.

Winifred Chouinard

Winifred Louis Chouinard, nee Roberg, 96, of Lombard, died Thursday, Feb. 18, at Beacon Hill Health Center in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 22, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mrs. Chouinard is survived by 10 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl. T.; siblings, Ruth (the late Arthur) Carlson and Arthur (the late Doris) Roberg; and brothers-in-law, LeRoy (the late Colleen) Chouinard and Robert (the late Neva) Chouinard.
Mrs. Chouinard was a resident of Lombard since the early 1950s and most recently of Beacon Hill Retirement Community since 2000. She was a longstanding member of First United Methodist Church in Lombard and an active member of many volunteer organizations.

James Covey

James Robert Covey, 66, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Jacksonville and Lombard, died Saturday, Feb. 6, in Las Vegas.

Charles Cunningham

Visitation for Charles B. “Chuck” Cunningham, 92, a former longtime resident of Elmhurst, will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, at Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary, 435 N. York Road, Elmhurst.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elmhurst. Interment is at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Cunningham is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy; children, Nancy (Stephen) Rex, Charles J. (Donna L.) and Glenn (Darlene); eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Calvin and Robert; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bill, Elsie, Sherman, Douglas, Mary Lou, Isabel, Margaret and Jean.
Mr. Cunningham was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.

Donna DeLio

Donna DeLio, nee Haley, 44, of Carol Stream, formerly of Lombard, died Saturday, Feb. 20, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services are being held today, Feb. 24, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. DeLio is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Jessica and Jacquelyn; father, Daniel (Jane); siblings, Daniel Haley, Debra Ann Haley of Lombard and Dawn (Craig) Halvorsen; and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille.
Mrs. DeLio was a resident of Carol Stream for 18 years. She was a 1983 graduate of Glenbard East High School and had worked as a sales administrator at Toshiba Electronics in Wheeling.

Marilyn Enke

Marilyn Mae Enke, nee O’Connor, of Montgomery, died Saturday, Feb. 13, in Montgomery.
Mrs. Enke is survived by her children, Robert (Ann), Scott (Donna), Sally Anne Enke (Brian Cooper) and Tom (Beth) of Lombard; sister, Ginger Cassai; companion of 45 years, Anthony Franzese; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend Doug Porch.

Kenneth Forkin

Kenneth J. Forkin, 60, of Westmont, formerly of Lombard, died Sunday, Feb. 7, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 20, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Forkin is survived by his daughter, Anna; granddaughter, Kayla Forkin; and siblings, Susan Robertson, Judith Gunderson and Karen (Eric) Schurr.
Mr. Forkin had worked as a steel salesman.

Susan Healy

Susan E. Healy, nee Zimmerman, 61, of Lombard, died Friday, Feb. 19.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 23, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Butler, Wis. Interment was at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Wis.
Mrs. Healy is survived by her husband, John H.; children, Patrick and Colleen; brother, Lee Zimmerman; and two nephews.
Mrs. Healy was a resident of Lombard since 1986. She graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee and Milwaukee Area Technical College, where she received her associate degree in nursing. She had worked for 17 years at Urological Specialties in Chicago Ridge. She loved gardening, biking, playing with her dog Rupps, vacationing on Cape Cod and spending time with her family.

Wilburn Heard

Visitation for Wilburn B. Heard, 88, of Elmhurst, will be held today, Feb. 24, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Elmhurst. Interment is private.
Mr. Heard is survived by his wife, Josie; children, Jackie (James) Campian and Janet (Glen) Nichols; three grandchildren; brother, Ross (Ann) Heard; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles and Kathryn (Roger) Moody.

David Kline

David R. Kline, 51, of Mauston, Wis., died Thursday, Feb. 18, at the UW Hospital in Madison.
A memorial service will be held in early spring at the Mauston Cemetery.
Mr. Kline is survived by his wife, June; siblings, Gail (Gary) Belsom of Lombard, Daniel and Dennis; and many friends and fellowships in the Mauston area.
Mr. Kline was the son of Ronald Sr. and Betty Lou Kline of Lombard. He was employed at Swiss Colony and Vacuum Platers in Mauston before receiving medical disability for a traumatic incident in 2005 that resulted in the loss of both arms.
Mr. Kline inspired his family, friends and community with his courage and determination, overcoming unimaginable obstacles and difficulties. His passionate care for animals earned him a lifetime membership in the Juneau County Humane Society.
The Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg is assisting the family.

Patrick Murray

Funeral services for Patrick F. Murray, 66, of Villa Park, were held Monday, Feb. 22, at St. Alexander Church Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Murray is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Philip (Brenda), Tim, Colleen (Jon) Molnar and Dan (Heather); and three grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Edward Reynolds

Edward James Reynolds, 91, of Lombard, died Saturday, Feb. 20, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services are being held today, Feb. 24, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Reynolds is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen “Murph”; children, Robert (Fran), Eileen (Merle) Kjonaas, Pat (Sue), Mary Jane (Lori) Reynolds, Nancy (Bob Ruczkowski) Reynolds and Jean (Kent Gier) Reynolds; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael.
Mr. Reynolds was the son of the late Patrick and Anne, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He had moved from Chicago’s 18th and Komensky neighborhood to Lombard, where he welcomed his mother-in-law, Bridie, into his new home; and had worked for Western Electric for 42 years. He picked Christmas trees at Cook’s Nursery, grew roses and mowed the lawn; coached Little League and helped his children with their homework; and taught all his children a deep appreciation for nature, skillfully using the old cottage at Fox Lake as his classroom. He was known for his boundless sense of humor.

Thelma Risko

Thelma Risko, nee White, 83, died Thursday, Feb. 18, in Belton, Mo. Services were private.
Mrs. Risko is survived by her children, Paul, Steve (Alicia), Gary and John; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve.
Mrs. Risko lived in Lombard from 1954-85, before moving to Belton. She was a homemaker and had worked for Lombard Junior High School in the cafeteria. She enjoyed gardening and loved her family and friends. She will be remembered for the fun times on Craig Street in Lombard.

Elizabeth Socall

Elizabeth Socall, nee Schelli, 51, of Lombard, died Friday, Feb. 19, in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 22, at St. Thomas United Methodist Church in Glen Ellyn, with the Rev. Danita R. Anderson officiating. Interment was private.
Mrs. Socall is survived by her husband, Steven J.; siblings, Donna (Greg) Peters and Anna (Roger) Huff; sister- and brothers-in-law, Diane Grove, David (Mary) Socall and James Socall; and in-laws, Edward and Shirley Socall. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Schelli.
Mrs. Socall had worked in retail.

Walter Szewczyk

Walter T. Szewczyk, 59, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 21, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Szewczyk is survived by his children, Melissa and Nathan; brother, Anthony J.J. (Lorna); a niece and nephew; and former wife, Elizabeth.
Mr. Szewczyk was a resident of Lombard for 30 years. He had been employed by Target for four years.

Leon Wayne

Leon J. Wayne, 86, of Lombard, formerly of Hillside, died Thursday, Feb. 18, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 23, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Entombment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Wayne is survived by his wife, Antoinette; sons, Leon J. Jr. (Jane) and Mark (Maureen) of Lombard; five grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Wayne was a resident of Lombard for 11 years and was formerly of Hillside for 45 years.
Charles Wittke
Charles H. Wittke, 79, of Kentwood, Mich., formerly of Villa Park, died Thursday Feb. 18.
Funeral services are being held today, Feb. 24, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mr. Wittke is survived by his wife of 58 years, Florence Evelyn; children, Sandy (Phil) Liles, Scott (Donna), Cheryl (Ron) Hansen and Stacey (Brian) Misiewicz; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
