Jean Baird


Jean Baird, nee Somerville, 88, died Sunday, June 27.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 3, in the chapel at Otterbein Lebanon Retirement Center in Lebanon, Ohio.
Mrs. Baird is survived by her children, James (Brenda), Janene (Timothy) Kraegel and Kirk (Karen); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Mae (Gerald) Griffin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Worth Kirkwood Baird; and three siblings.
Mrs. Baird graduated from Oxford High School in Oxford, Mich., and worked for the Camp Fire Girls in Elmhurst for 23 years, serving as registrar. For over 50 years she was an active member of the Lombard Bible Church with many years of service in the children’s Sunday school. She was a Camp Fire and Cub Scout leader, and early in her married life her hobbies included knitting and sewing. Later, she was an active quilter and member of the Lombard Bible Church’s quilting group and other groups in the Lombard area. She was known as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Contributions to the Otterbein Lebanon Benevolence Fund would be appreciated.

Joanne Woods Bitter

Joanne Woods Bitter, nee Reiser, 87, formerly of Lombard and Carol Stream, died Saturday, June 26, at DuPage County Convalescent Center in Wheaton.
A memorial service is being held today, July 7, at First Church of Lombard in Lombard.
Mrs. Bitter is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Daniel) Paprzyca, James (Patrice) Woods, Jock (Celeste) Woods, Jeffrey (Sherry) Woods and Jeanne (Mark) Reiner; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Einar and Bess Reiser; and brother, E. Raymond Reiser.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the DuPage County Convalescent Center would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Illinois.

Mary Contri

Funeral services for Mary Contri, nee Moulton, 82, of Villa Park, were held Saturday, July 3, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Contri is survived by her husband, Frank; children, Robert F., John J. (Lynn) and Patricia (Robert) Ciston; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, David (Sue), and Dennis (the late Ronnie); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (Mary) and Derek Moulton.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Marilyn Crandall

Funeral services for Marilyn R. Crandall, nee Dobson, 78, of Villa Park, are being held today, July 7, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.

Donald Freese Sr.

Donald H. Freese Sr., 82, of Lombard, died Sunday, July 4, in Lombard.
Visitation is being held today, July 7, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 8, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment is private at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.

Lennart Hedlund

Lennart S. Hedlund, 89, of Lombard, died Wednesday, June 23, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago.
Mr. Hedlund was preceded in death by his parents, Sigurd and Edith.
Mr. Hedlund was a resident of Lombard for over 50 years. He had retired from Sunbeam Electric in Chicago, where he had worked for over 40 years. He was a good friend of Dr. Paul and Mary Jo Arndt, because he was an avid animal lover. He was very thankful to them, his caregivers, the domestic agency, the Lombard Police Department and his personal secretary, Judy.

Gwendolyn Parrilli

Gwendolyn Parrilli, nee Brestan, 87, of Lombard, died Thursday, July 1, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Matthew Church in Glendale Heights, with the Rev. Kevin Lasey officiating. Entombment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Parrilli is survived by her children, Carol (John) Patete, Dolores (Dick) Schaper and Judy (the late Dick) Larson; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Joyce) Brestan; and canine companion, Miss Cutie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen.
Mrs. Parrilli had done factory work for Motorola and was an avid bowler.

Dolores Yukness

Visitation for Dolores Yukness, nee Sowinski, 72, of Lombard is being held today, July 7, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 8, from the funeral home to Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Peter Jarosz officiating. Interment is at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.
