Carolyn Benner


Funeral services for Carolyn T. Benner, nee Mirabelli, 74, of Villa Park, were held Friday, June 18, at St. Alexander Church gathering space in Villa Park. Interment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Benner is survived by her longtime love, Heinz Theiner; children, Michael (Terri) Heller, Jeffrey (Maria) Benner and Cheryl (Frank) Cannistra; seven grandchildren; siblings, Norma (Tom) Volpe and Jack (Cynthia) Mirabelli; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Benner.
Mrs. Benner was a member and president of the Ladies of the Elks Elmhurst Elks Lodge #1531.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Elks National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Ave., Chicago, IL 60614; or Children Care Corp., Box 222, Chatham, IL 62629-0222, would be appreciated.

Jack Cabo

Funeral services for Jack P. Cabo, 75, of Villa Park, were held Tuesday, June 22, from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Alexander Church. Interment was private.
Mr. Cabo is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Lou, Cathleen (Craig) Nute, Chris and Colleen (Russ) Annunziata; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; canine pal, Molly Malone; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Harriett Cabo; and siblings, Margie, Louie and Dotty.
Mr. Cabo was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Carpenters Union Local #80 in Chicago.

Hilda Gorman

Private services were held for Hilda Gorman, nee McAra, 89, of Lombard.
Mrs. Gorman is survived by her children, Glenn (Sharon), Thomas (Kathy) and Bruce (Peggy); one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; sister, LaVerne Stahl; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Alfred; and brothers, Robert McAra and James McAra.
Mrs. Gorman was a 55-year resident of Lombard and was recently granted a Lifetime Award by the Lombard Garden Club.
Donations in her name to the Lombard Garden Club, P.O. Box 885, Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Dorothy Palmer

Visitation for Dorothy A. Palmer, nee Higgins, 91, of Villa Park, will be Friday, June 25, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 26, at the funeral home. Interment is private.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by her children, Candace (Richard) Koros and Jeffrey (Barbara); four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E.; and brother, Daniel (Virginia) Higgins.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Wayne Simms

Funeral services for Wayne Leonard Simms, 75, of Murray Ky., formerly of Villa Park, were held Saturday, June 19, at the Community Congregational Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Bronswood Cemetery.
Mr. Simms is survived by his wife, Christine; children, Lisa, Michael (Wendy) and Kimberly Kaczynski; one grandson; siblings, Valerie (Bill) and Joy Hallden; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Simms was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era. He was an industry and technology instructor and chairman of the department at Addison Trail High School in Addison from 1966 until his retirement in 1983. He then started his own construction company.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wayne L. Simms Renewable Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students at Murray State University, c/o Office of Development, 106 Development Center, Murray, KY 42071-3313, would be appreciated.

Frances Suk

Funeral services for Frances J. Suk, nee Trubiroha, 92, formerly of Villa Park, are being held today, June 23, at St. Alexander Church gathering space in Villa Park. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Suk is survived by her children, Joan (Jack) Erickson and Lynne (Roland) Schmid; five grandchildren; and sister, Ann Zabransky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin F.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Miriam Yarrow

Miriam Yarrow, nee Erickson, 75, of Florida, formerly of Lombard, died in Deerfield Beach, Fla.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 22, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park. Interment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Yarrow is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Jim) Kemper, Ruth (Greg) Pirrie, Melody and Luann (Kenny) Doman; three grandchildren; siblings, Gracia Wright, Ardeth (William) Johnson and Chuck (Jean) Erickson; and sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Erickson and Sandy Erickson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Roy S.; brothers, Glen Erickson and James Erickson; and son-in-law, Sheldon Wright.
Mrs. Yarrow was a homemaker and had previously worked for Scripture Press in Wheaton. She was a longtime member of Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church, where she served as the missions chairman, deaconess and AWANA director. She was known for being a wonderful mother not only to her own children but to the neighborhood children as well.

William Yee

William N.P. Yee, 73, of Lombard, died Wednesday, June 16, at Lexington Healthcare, Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mr. Yee is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Mai; children, Grace (Charles) Swedberg, Jennifer (Thomas) Mahoney, Christopher (Katy) and Timothy (Kathryn); seven grandchildren; and sisters, Nancy Wong and Winnie (Art) Kubey. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Harry Wong.
Mr. Yee was a commercial interior designer for over 30 years. He was a great provider for his family, loved to be with his grandchildren, enjoyed sports and playing poker, loved fishing, and enjoyed building things and traveling, including camping.
