Doris Balteskonis


Doris Balteskonis, nee Drossen, 81, of Lombard, died Friday, May 28, in Downers Grove.
Memorial services were held Monday, June 7, at Christ the King Church in Lombard.
Mrs. Balteskonis is survived by her husband, Robert; and son, Steve (Ellen).
Mrs. Balteskonis and her family lived in Lombard from 1962 until her death. She is best known for the 25 years she spent as the social director at Beacon Hill retirement residence in Lombard. To residents, co-workers and management alike, she brought sunshine, energy, warmth and optimism.

Dorothy Braun

Dorothy T. Braun, nee Thompson, 95, of Lombard, formerly of Lake Hinsdale Village, Willowbrook, for 20 years, died Saturday, June 5, at Beacon Hill  Health Center in Lombard.
Visitation will be today, June 9, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, at the funeral home. Interment is at Sheldon Cemetery in Sheldon, Ill.
Mrs. Braun is survived by her children, Barbara Ann Mladenoff and Douglas Allen (Liberty); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Martha Birkett and Donald; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin H.; son, Robert L.; and siblings, Kathryn Durtche, Pearl Cabot, Jean Bartlett and Kenneth.
Mrs. Braun was a resident of Beacon Hill since 1996. She volunteered in the library at Beacon Hill for many years and was a crew leader to welcome new residents on her floor at Beacon Hill.

Virginia Gutierrez

Visitation for Virginia Gutierrez, nee Triplette, 78, of Addison, will be held today, June 9, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is private.
Mrs. Gutierrez is survived by her children, Karen Moody, Maxine (Darrell) Easey and Esther (Robert) Allen; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Edna, Mary Jane, Martha, Helen, Ruth Nancy and William; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen; and siblings, Richard, Lucille, Virgie and Elsie.
Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.

Jeannette Madden

Jeannette A. Madden, nee Rybarski, 95, died Thursday, June 3, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Glen Ellyn in Glen Ellyn.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 10, at the Maple Street Chapel in Lombard.
Mrs. Madden is survived by her cousin, Sandra Robbins; dear friends, Wesley (Alice) Kidd, Camille (Ray) Mungovan of Lombard and Jean Law of Lombard; and three nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William; parents, Henry and Harriet Rybarski; and brothers-in-law, Gordan and the Rev. Willard K. Madden.
Mrs. Madden was a resident of Lombard for 43 years. She was a graduate of Schurz High School in Chicago and had attended DePaul University in Chicago. She formerly worked at Sears.
Mrs. Madden was very active in Lombard as the longest member and president of the Lombard Garden Club several times and had maintained the gardens at the Maple Street Chapel for many years. She was a current member and past president of the Lombard Woman’s Club, was a former member of the Lombard Stamp Club, the Lombard Book Club and a former member of the Polish American Club in Chicago.

Paul Morris Sr.

Paul E. Morris Sr., 85, of Lombard, died Monday, June 7, in Lombard.
Visitation will be today, June 9, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment is at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Sherry L.; children, Michael (Paula), Thomas of Lombard, John of Lombard, James (Sheila), Paul Jr. (Linda), Martha “Marty” (David) Schillerstrom and Susan “Susie” (John) Krebs of Lombard; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Margaret (Daniel) Andrews, Rosemary Gott, Robert (Charlene) and James (Susan); sister-in-law, Dorothy Morris; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Morris had been a resident of Lombard since 1961. He grew up in Quincy, Ill., where he graduated from Notre Dame High School. He graduated from Quincy College and received his master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the 3rd Army with General Patton in France, Germany and Belgium.
Mr. Morris was retired after 32 years as a teacher and baseball and football coach at Glenbard East High School. He was a teacher for over 43 years, having also taught at Coleman High School in Coleman, Wis.; Virginia High School in Virginia, Ill.; and St. Bede Academy in LaSalle, Ill. He was a member of the Illinois Drivers Teachers Association, TRS, IEA and NEA; and was selected by Glenbard East High School to the Academic Heritage Hall of Fame.
Mr. Morris was an active member at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard and was a First Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Boecker Council #6090. He was a former member of the VFW.
