Ralph Bruder


Funeral services for Ralph F. Bruder, 75, are being held today, March 17, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Bruder is survived by his children, Amy (Kenneth) Smith, Lori (Robert) Wawrzaszek and David (Julie); four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A.; and sister, Rosie Byrd.
Mr. Bruder was a retired gunnery sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hines V.A. Hospital, Volunteer Services/Fisher House would be appreciated.

Edward Bubak

Edward J. Bubak, 60, of Carol Stream, formerly of Lombard for 20 years, died Saturday, March 13, in Downers Grove.
Funeral services are being held today, March 17, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. John Guiney officiating. Interment is private.
Mr. Bubak is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Sharon and Brian Sr. (Lisa); six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Mary (Andy) Mihalo and George (Donna) Bubak; brother- and sisters-in-law, Linda (Bill) Plasky, Elizabeth Satter, Charles (Laura) Whipple Jr. and Luella (Tony) Quicksey; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Christine (the late John); and brother-in-law, Walter Whipple.
Mr. Bubak had worked as a truck driver in the printing industry.

Michael Butler

Michael R. Butler Sr., 53, formerly of Villa Park, died Monday, March 8, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Funeral services and interment were private.
Mr. Butler is survived by his children, Michael R. Jr. (Amy) and Wyatt; parents, Ray (Peggy) Butler and Marilyn Butler; one grandchild; siblings, David (Ronda) Butler, Kathy (Gordon) Richards, Brian and Patrick Butler; uncle, Don Esler; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Butler was a 1974 graduate of Willowbrook High School.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Cancer Research would be appreciated.

LeRoy Damsgaard

Leroy K. Damsgaard, of Lisle, died Tuesday, March 9.
Mr. Damsgaard is survived by his children, Steven (Jennifer) and Jason (Kelli); three grandchildren; siblings, Shirley (Jim) Vadnais, Joyce (Paul) Prigge and Jerry Damsgaard; and special friends Sally Sanders and Tanya (Paul) Vetter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Delta Schauer.
Mr. Damsgaard served as a U.S. Army signal specialist based out of Turkey. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hockey, playing cards and spending time with his friends at the Lombard Moose Lodge.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Kathryn Fennell

Kathryn M. Fennell, nee McCarthy, of Oakbrook Terrace, died Thursday, March 11.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 15, at Ascension of Our Lord Church in Oakbrook Terrace. Interment was private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Fennell is survived by her children, MaryRita (Ron) Dettling, Kevin (Theresa), James and Sean (Kathleen); nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L.; and siblings, Margaret (Roy) Granskog, Frank (Lorraine), Walter (Margaret), John (Susanne) and William (Rosemary) McCarthy.
In lieu of flowers, Masses would be appreciated.

Frank Finek Sr.

Frank Finek Sr., 54, of Lombard, died Saturday, March 6, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 10, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. John Guiney officiating. Interment was private.
Mr. Finek is survived by his children, Morgan and Frankie Jr.; siblings, Susan (George) Murawski and Gary Finek; sisters-in-law, Jill (Steve) Kovanic and Gaye (Norvell) Bujarski; seven nieces and nephews; ex-wife, Cheryl; friend, Stephanie Skirkey; and father-in-law, Richard Bauman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen; and mother-in-law, Ruth Bauman.
Mr. Finek had worked as a plumber.

Shirley Look

A celebration of life service for Shirley I. Look, 80, formerly of Elmhurst, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at Wilder Mansion, 211 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst.
Mrs. Look was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J.; loving mother of Melinda (David) Allgeyer, Debra (Bill) Skahill, James (Stacie), Thomas and Jeff (Kathy); and dear grandmother of seven.

George Maciejewski

George G. Maciejewski, 52, of Villa Park, died Friday, March 12, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, March 20, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mr. Maciejewski is survived by his wife, Carmen; children, Elizabeth (Damien) Fisher, Andrew, Vince (Gretchen) Shissler and Nick (fiancée Leanne) Shissler; and sister, Joanne (Garret) Schmoeller.
Mr. Maciejewski had worked as a general contractor for many years. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle; hanging out with his children and grandchildren; was an avid Bears and White Sox fan; enjoyed reading, woodworking, building things and renovation projects; loved to tell stories; and was a history buff.

William Spence

William R. Spence, 84, of Carol Stream, formerly of Glen Ellyn for 30 years, died Tuesday, March 9, at Manor Care in Naperville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 13, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.
Mr. Spence is survived by his wife, Jessie; daughters, Mildred (Keith) Zukausky, Melody (Kenneth)  Chapman and Martha Glaza of Lombard; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Spence grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from the Milton S. Hershey High School. He then received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in 1948, after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Spence had been a realtor for Century 21 in Glen Ellyn for the past 28 years. He had also worked as a manager for the Railroad Retirement Board in Chicago for over 32 years. He was a member of the Lombard Bible Church.

Giuseppe Sproviero

Giuseppe Sproviero, 76, of Lombard, died Monday, March 15, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Visitation will be today, March 17, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
Mr. Sproviero is survived by his wife, Rosa; children, Maria (Dominick) Ragona of Lombard, Rochelle and Anthony of Lombard; three grandchildren; and brothers, Edward (Franca) and Frank.
Mr. Sproviero loved gardening. He loved his grandkids, who were his greatest joy.

Sandra Subject

A memorial visitation for Sandra A. Subject, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Villa Park, was held Friday, March 12, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Ms. Subject is survived by her siblings, Richard (Jo) Ahrens, Ted (Cathy) Ahrens, Ginger (Mike) McKay, Neatha Ahrens, John (Lu) Ahrens and Colleen Brown; and was an aunt of many and great-aunt of one. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Ahrens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Robert Wittenberg

Robert Edward Wittenberg, 81, of Hazelcrest, died Sunday, March 14, in Hazelcrest.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18, at Community Presbyterian Church in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mr. Wittenberg is survived by his wife, Jean E.; sons, Mark (Barb), Wayne (Gloria) of Lombard and Robert; seven grandchildren; and sister, Mary Jane Roberts. He was preceded in death by his son, Lynn.
Mr. Wittenberg was the former commissioner of the Hazelcrest Park District and was known for being a hard worker who took good care of his family.
Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Marilyn Zimmerman

Marilyn Catherine Zimmerman, nee Frega, of San Marcos, Texas, died Friday, Feb. 26, in San Marcos.
A private memorial service will be held in Colorado later in March.
Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by her children, Jo An, Carol Mazie, Charles Jr. and Daniel; eight grandchildren; and brother, Bob Frega. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sr.; and sisters, Phyllis Drew and Shirley Frega.
Mrs. Zimmerman was a former resident of Lombard and Broomfield, Colo. She was a 1958 graduate of York High School in Elmhurst and was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Memorials to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
