Juanita Estock


Visitation for Juanita L. “Nita” Estock, nee Paulson, 83, of Villa Park, will be held today, May 12, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 13, at Grace Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mrs. Estock is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick”; children, Gregory (Cindy), Roberta, Michele (Todd) Nelson and Celeste (Frank III) Keller; seven grandchildren; siblings, Mavis (the late E. Galen) Sink and Arvada (Glenn) Kindstrom; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald (Marilyn) Paulson.
Mrs. Estock was retired after working at JCPenny in Villa Park. Memorials to Grace Lutheran Church, 5 N. Princeton, Villa Park, IL 60181, would be appreciated.

Elsa Folkerts

Elsa Folkerts, 92, died Tuesday, May 4.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 8, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mrs. Folkerts is survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children, Renae (the late James) Wallin and Darryll (Karen) Bauer.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Sarah Holmberg

Sarah Thomas Holmberg, 90, died Wednesday, April 28.
Mrs. Holmberg is survived by her son, Edwin (Tricia); one grandson; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Sr.; and daughter, Valette Greene.
Mrs. Holmberg was raised during the Great Depression and served her country as a nurse during World War II. After the war the Holmbergs moved to Chicago and later, Indianapolis, where they raised their children. She was known for her love of life and strong character, having an easy laugh, a genuine inquisitiveness and bustling energy. She was also a lifelong artist and set an example for all who knew her for her grace, humor, perseverance and generosity.
Arrangements were made by Messinger Indian School Mortuary in Scottsdale, Ariz.

William Kindl

William “Bill” Kindl, 84 of Johnsburg, formerly of Lombard, died Friday, May 7, at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 11, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Entombment was at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mr. Kindl is survived by his wife, Jackie; children, Brant (Sheryl) of Lombard, Blake (Mariel), Kimberly (Mark) Krakowski, Holly (Bill) Johnson and Deidre (Russ) Grounds; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Hank (Patricia) of Villa Park and James (Vickie); and sisters-in-law, Jayne and Jane. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Anthony.
Mr. Kindle was a resident of Lombard from 1950 until he moved to Johnsburg two years ago. He had graduated from York High School and DeForest Institute, was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and played semi-pro basketball with the Elmhurst Rockets. He retired in the 1980s after over 30 years as a technical writer for Chicago Aerial Industries in Barrington. He was also an avid Cubs fan.

Carmella Marrano

Funeral services for Carmella E. Marrano, 98, are being held today, May 12, from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mrs. Marrano is survived by two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister; Mary (the late Auggie) Giuliano; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore; children, Arlene (Gene) Hodowanic and Jeanine (Ron) Stulgin; and sister, Katherine (the late Vince) Ippolito.

Elizabeth Moreau

Funeral services for Elizabeth H. Moreau, nee Klaeren, were held Monday, May 10, at St. Alexander Church Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Moreau is survived by her children, David, Timothy (MaryJo), Michael and Patricia (Mark) Manos; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Charles (the late Gerry) Klaeren, Gertrude (the late Earl) Huntley, Jane (the late Clarence) Steben, George (Bea) Klaeren and Edward (Pat) Klaeren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J.; and brother, William Klaeren.
Mrs. Moreau was a longtime resident of Villa Park. She was a past employee of the Elmhurst Press/Villa Park Argus newspaper.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Rene Neirynck

Funeral services for Rene C. Neirynck, of Villa Park, were held Saturday, May 8, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Neirynck is survived by his wife, Renee; children, Kelly (Clint) Reif and Jennifer (Brad) Schwardt; father, Rene; three grandchildren; and brother, John (Julie) Neirynck. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth.
Mr. Neirynck was a devoted letter carrier for 38 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Camp Blessing would be appreciated.

Dora Nelson

Dora E. Nelson, nee Moeller, 88, of Lombard, died Monday, April 26, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
A memorial gathering and service will be held Saturday, May 15 at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by her brother, Ludwig Moeller; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roy; and four sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Nelson was a resident of Lombard since 1977. She worked as an executive secretary for the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers.
Memorials to CNS Hospice would be appreciated.

David Robbins

Visitation for David Joseph Robbins, 69, will be held Friday, May 14, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment is private.

Simon Schroeder

Simon A. Schroeder, 31, of Lombard, died Wednesday, May 5.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 10, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Villa Park, Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Schroeder is survived by his parents, Anthony P. and Andrea L.; siblings, Anthony J. (Samantha), Michael R. of Villa Park and Emily A. of Lombard; one nephew/godson; grandmother, Josephine Cordova; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard Cordova and Anthony J. and Margaret H. Schroeder.
Mr. Schroeder was a resident of Lombard for 20 years. He was a graduate of Willowbrook High School and was an avid Cubs fan.

Anthony Stanich

Anthony M. Stanich, 85, of Poplar Grove, formerly of Lombard, died Wednesday, May 5, in Poplar Grove.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 11, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Stanich is survived by his children, Brig. Gen. (retired) Mark (Linda); the Rev. Kit (Joy), Sheila (Franklin) Truan, Susan (Mark) Brechler, Scott, Rebecca Budzinski and Michael; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle.
Mr. Stanich was formerly of Lombard for 45 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served for 22 years in World War II and Korea, retiring as a staff sergeant E-6 and earning two Bronze Stars. He was a highly decorated veteran, including receiving the Combat Infantry Badge.

Jerome Sherwin

Jerome Thomas Sherwin, 85, of Lombard, died suddenly Tuesday, May 4, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 8, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
Mr. Sherwin is survived by his wife, Lydia; children, Janice Nilsen, Robert of Lombard and Carole (Paul) Kasch; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Gallagher; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Frances C. Sherwin; and brothers, William and George Sherwin.
Mr. Sherwin was a resident of Lombard since 1956. He was a graduate of Mundelein High School and had retired in 1989 after 46 years with Union Special Machine Co. in Chicago. He was a past president of the union’s Special Credit Union, had been a real estate agent in Lombard, was past president of Sacred Heart’s Holy Name Society and a founding father of Sacred Heart’s German Fest.
Mr. Sherwin had been a parking lot attendant at Sacred Heart Church and also was a commentator and usher for Sacred Heart. He had been a Little League coach for the Lombard Boys League and a Pony Tail League coach for the girls softball team. He was a member of the Downers Grove Moose Lodge, had been a member of the Lombard Lion’s Club and was an avid Cubs fan.
