James Gralik


James Alfred Gralik, of Eagle River, Wis., died Tuesday, May 11, at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Mich.
At his request, there will be no services at this time.
Mr. Gralik is survived by his daughter, Debra Gralik; mother, Evelyn Gralik; brothers, Daniel Gralik and Robert Gralik; six nieces and nephews; and caregiver, Lois Wandsnider. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Gralik.
Mr. Gralik attended school in Chicago before enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam Conflict, where he was honorably discharged. He was the owner and operator of Gralik Trucking while a resident of Villa Park, before retiring.
Mr. Gralik loved the beauty and nature of the Northwoods, bird watching and fishing. He was known as a “Jack of all trades,” never too busy to help or fix anything; was a member of the American Legion Post and VFW in Three Lakes, as well as a frequent visitor to St. Germain, where he was active in playing horseshoes and shooting pool.

Marie Isadore

Marie Isadore, nee Sbarra, 81, of Lombard, died Wednesday, May 12, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 15, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Isadore is survived by her sons, Dr. Ernest (Joanne) and Bruno (Mary Beth); daughter-in-law, Gay Isadore; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; and son, Alfred.
Mrs. Isadore was a resident of Lombard since 1962. She had worked at Glenbard East High School in the 1990s.

Dorothy Lytle

Dorothy E. Lytle, nee Gangler, 91, of Lombard, died Wednesday, May 12, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 17, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Lytle is survived by her children, Nancy (Marty) Kerr of Lombard, James (Rita), Thomas of Lombard, Mary Ann of Lombard and Michael (Janelle); three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and good friend and neighbor, Donna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; and siblings, Matthew, Walter, Leonard, Robert and Rosemary.
Mrs. Lytle was a resident of Lombard for 30 years.

William Macdonald

William A. Macdonald, 77, died Thursday, May 13.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 17, at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Mr. Macdonald is survived by his children, Michael (Lisa), Kimberly and Kristie (Nate) Greenberg; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce.
Mr. Macdonald was a senior master sergeant with the United States Air Force and was a longtime Lombard resident.

Ramona Mannino

Funeral services for Ramona Jean Mannino, nee Newlander, 81, of Villa Park, were held Sunday, May 16, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. An interment service was held Monday, May 17, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mrs. Mannino is survived by her children, Cheryl Hanna, Christine (Craig) Carlson, Jerry and Marci Jo Engler; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert, Walter, Arthur and Roy Newlander; many nieces and nephews; and canine pal Tripper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated.

David Robbins

David Joseph Robbins, 69, died Monday, May 10.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 15, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Robbins is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Timothy Michael (Melony) and Mary Kathryn; two grandchildren; and siblings, Jerry (Loretta) Robbins, Rosalie (John) Thatcher, Jack (Linda) Robbins and Margaret (Arnie) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Jane Robbins; and siblings, Ed, Richard, Maxine and Mary Jane.
Mr. Robbins retired from Continental Airlines in 1983 and worked at the Villa Park Ace Hardware for the last 20 years. He was a member of St. Alexander Catholic Church, was a brother Knight, and enjoyed fishing and socializing at Maywood Sportsman’s Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Alexander St. Vincent DePaul Society would be appreciated.

Mollie Santeralli

Mollie C. Santeralli, nee Manzo, 84, of Villa Park, died Sunday, May 16, in Villa Park.
Visitation will be today, May 19, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 20, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Holy Ghost Church in Wood Dale. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Santeralli is survived by her husband, Ernest; children, Richard (Rosemary), Patricia Schwabek, Claire (Joseph) Gregoire and Ernest C. “Ernie” (Janet) of Lombard; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Louis (Ruth) Santeralli; sister-in-law, Claire (John) Iovinelli; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles (Jean) Restaino; and sister, Jennie Pesola.
Mrs. Santeralli was a resident of Villa Park for 53 years and grew up in Chicago. She would have celebrated 66 years of marriage on May 20.

John Thompson

John “Ray” Thompson, 99, of Beacon Hill, Lombard, died Wednesday, May 5, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 8, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. Char Hoffman of River Forest United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his son, Arthur; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy C.; son, Robert; and brother, Bill (the late Marion) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson had worked as a foreman for Illinois Bell Telephone. He was the director of the Lombard Senior Chorus for 30 years and director of the Beacon Hill Chorus for 27 years, and served with the Lombard Senior Men’s Club for 30 years.

Richard Whitcomb

Richard J. Whitcomb, 59, of Villa Park, died Sunday, May 16, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services are being held today, May 19, at Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Whitcomb is survived by his wife, Ellen; stepson, Tim (Amy) Van Tassel; brothers, John (Sally) and Joe (Gerri); eight nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Elven Amundson, Everett (Kathleen) Amundson and Kenneth (Valerie) Amundson; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Wilbur Whitcomb.
Mr. Whitcomb was a resident of Villa Park for 16 years and was formerly of Chicago. He was a 1969 graduate of Minonk Dana Rutland High School, and a 1979 graduate of the University of Illinois. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a draftsman for Civil Engineering Inc. in Naperville and C.E.S. Inc. in Belvidere.
Mr. Whitcomb worked with the homeless at Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church; he was active with the food pantry at both Harvard Avenue and St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. He had served on the board of deacons at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, was a former chairman of the board of evangelism at St. John’s and was a member of the board of evangelism.
Mr. Whitcomb was formerly active with Stephen Ministry, had been a former volunteer of the Battered Women’s Shelter in Florida, had been a volunteer for Big Brothers and Big Sisters and was an English tutor at College of DuPage. He was quoted as saying “I felt I had a good run.”
Memorials to Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church Food Pantry, 206 W. St. Charles Road, Villa Park, IL 60181, would be appreciated.

Everett Young Jr.

Funeral services for Everett H. “Rob” Young Jr., of Villa Park, were held Friday, May 14, from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. John the Apostle Church. Entombment was at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Shane, Cary (Janet) and Mairin; one grandchild; mother, Carol (the late Everett Sr.); brothers, Jeff (Shirley) and Thomas Young; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Young had served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hammerhead SSN 663.
