Mildred Cerveny


Mildred A. Cerveny, nee Gniadek, 88, of Villa Park, died Saturday, May 22, in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 25, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Tom Corbino officiating. Interment was at Bohemian National Cemetery.
Mrs. Cerveny is survived by her children, MaryAnn (the late Albert) Girardi, Gloria E. (the late Savatore) Vinci, Josephine (Frank) Newhouse and John Jr. (Sandra) Cerveny; many grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Chester (Catherine), Richard “Richie” (the late Pat), and Alex; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Thomas L.; and brothers, Eddie and Stanley Gniadek.
Mrs. Cerveny was born in Chicago and was a longtime resident of Villa Park. She was a homemaker, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a wonderful cook.

John Egan

John F. Egan, 71, of Huntley, formerly of Lombard, died Monday, May 17, in Huntley.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 21, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Egan is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Daniel J.; siblings, William, Thomas Patrick (Patricia) of Lombard and Marjorie (Marvin) Fleege of Lombard; brother-in-law, William Newkirk; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Anne Egan; and sisters, Annette (the late John) Weatherwax and Mary Newkirk.
Mr. Egan had been a resident of Lombard for 30 years before moving to Huntley in 2004. He was a retired 50-year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #134. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Memorials to the Monarch Foundation or the American Lung Association would be appreciated.

Gregory Graham

Visitation for Gregory Phillip “Greg” Graham, 51, of Elburn, formerly of Lombard, will be held Thursday, May 27, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 28, at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Ilten of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lombard officiating. Interment is private.

Bruce Koykar

Bruce Koykar, 73, a 50-year resident of Romeoville, died Saturday, May 8, in Romeoville.
In honor of his wishes, funeral services were held for the immediate family. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Koykar is survived by his children, Kevin, Jeffrey (Kimberly), Kristy (Majid) Sadeghi, Michael (Marlene) and Steven; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Frank J. (Mary) Koykar of Lombard and Joseph (Barbara) Koykar; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Dorothy Koykar; and sister, Barbara Lynn Knight.
Mr. Koykar attended Glenbard (West) High School and served in the U.S. Navy for four years aboard the aircraft carriers USS Coral Sea and USS Yorktown. He worked for the FAA as a center air traffic controller in Aurora and upon retirement from government service, became a local realtor and mortgage lender. He was one of the founding members of the Hampton Park Social Athletic Club.

Patricia Hernbroth

Patricia M. Hernbroth, nee Keltner, 53, of Lombard, died Wednesday, May 19, in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 24, with prayers from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Thomas Corbino officiating. Interment was private.
Mrs. Hernbroth is survived by her husband, Brian; daughter, Trisha (Jason) DeNorio; parents, Robert and Patricia Keltner; siblings, Robert J. Jr. (Barbara) and Howard M. (Helen) Keltner; mother-in-law, Margaret Hernbroth; and brothers-in-law, Bruce (Kathy) and Matt (Rose) Hernbroth; and was an aunt, niece, cousin and friend of many. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Matthew Hernbroth.
Mrs. Hernbroth had worked as a secretary in education.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311, would be appreciated.

Ruth Smith

Ruth E. Smith, 91, of Ventura Calif., formerly of Lombard, died Saturday, May 8, in Ventura.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 3, at Forest Home Cemetery Chapel, 863 Des Plaines Ave., Forest Park.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Janis (Dennis) Connolly; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Henry “Roy”; and brothers, Howard and William.
Mrs. Smith had been a resident of Lombard from 1971 to 2000. She retired after working as an office manager for Sears headquarters in 1978, after 30 years of service. True to her nature, she remained active and independent until just days before her death.

Mark Somora

Funeral services for Mark A. Somora, 35, of Villa Park, were held Tuesday, May 25, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Somora was the father of Christian; son of Thomas and Nancy Somora; and brother of Tracy Somora. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Madelyn Andrew, and Marguerite and Frank Lindquist.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
