Norma D’Acquisto


Norma D’Acquisto, nee Milani, 89, of Elmwood Park, died Tuesday, April 27, in Oak Brook.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 1, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Thomas Corbino officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. D’Acquisto is survived by her sons, Andrew and Carl (Cecilia); two grandchildren; and sister, Olga Nytko. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and sister, Julia Kunstadt.
Mrs. D’Acquisto had worked as a registered nurse.

Josephine Frey

Josephine T. Frey, nee DiGiovanni, 76, of Lombard, died Monday, May 3, at RML Hospital in Hinsdale.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 6, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Frey is survived by her children, Joseph of Lombard, Richard (Lisa) and Cheri Dobrotka; four grandchildren; brother, Sam DiGiovanni; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and sister-in-law, Marie DiGiovanni.
Mrs. Frey was a resident of Lombard for 50 years. She touched many lives during her lifetime, was a source of inspiration for so many people, and was considered a loving mother and doting grandmother who showered her family with love.

Joan Hynes

Joan E. Hynes, nee Wagner, 83, of Lombard, died Sunday, May 2, at Lexington Health Care in Lombard.
Visitation is today, May 5, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 6, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Hynes is survived by her son, James (Marianne); two grandchildren; one niece; and former husband, John T. Hynes Jr. She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy.
Mrs. Hynes was a resident of Lombard since 1966 and had worked as a receptionist at Lexington Square in Lombard for 18 years. She was a longtime parishioner at Christ the King Church, enjoyed watching old movies, and was known as a strong-willed person.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, 1801 S. Meyers Road, Suite 100, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181, would be appreciated.

Wray Miller

Wray W. Miller, 84, of Glen Ellyn, died Monday, April 26, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Glen Oak Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Miller is survived by his children, Cynthia (Michael) Berks and Wray R. (Mary Ann); five grandchildren; and special friends, Margaret and Adolph Guenther. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine H.; and brother, Ralph.
Mr. Miller was a resident of Glen Ellyn for 51 years. He was a graduate of Proviso East High School in 1943 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Cossatot in World War II and in Korea.
Mr. Miller had retired from Commonwealth Edison after 44 years and was the past president of F.O.E. in Melrose Park. He had been a past Glenbard volunteer fireman, was an avid fisherman and gardener, enjoyed camping, and did ceramics with his wife. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn.

Joyce Mitter

Joyce Mary Roberts Mitter, 81, of Lombard, died Tuesday, April 27, at Brighton Gardens in Wheaton.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 30, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Mitter is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank; children, Thomas Matthew (Michiko) and Barbara Mitter (Bart) Hoberecht; three grandchildren; brother, Eugene Francis (Janet) Roberts; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith; father, Eugene; and brother, Russell K. Roberts.
Mrs. Mitter was a resident of Lombard since 1953. She was a 1947 graduate of York High School, was a homemaker, and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Richard Tross

Richard “Dick” Tross, 63, of Lombard, died Monday, April 26, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 1, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment was private at Allerton Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Tross is survived by his daughter, Lori; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Roger (Christine) and Michael. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy; son, Christopher; and brother, Ronald.
Mr. Tross was a resident of Lombard for 41 years. He was born in Chicago and attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary, St. Hedgwick St. Mary Seminary and Roland D. Amundsen Chicago  City College. In the 1970s he worked for Southwest Appliance in Lombard.
Mr. Tross was a very active member of the Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce; served for a number of years as a member of the Lombard Jaycees Taste of Lombard Committee, where he and other older Jaycees have run the very popular bingo tent at the Taste of Lombard; served on the Lilac Parade Committee for over 25 years; and was a member of the Lombard American Legion Post #391 and the Lombard Moose.
