Janet Dildine

Janet L. Dildine, nee Wait, 74, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, in Winfield.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. Robert Schieler officiating. Interment is private.
Mrs. Dildine is survived by her husband, David; children, Brian Fuchs and Sherie Georgitsis; three grandchildren; one niece; and two great-nieces.
Mrs. Dildine was an OB nurse at Elmhurst Clinic for 30 years and was a member of the Medinah Shriners of Addison.
Memorials to Children’s Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.

Juanita Duran

Juanita M. Duran, nee Alvarado, 88, of Batavia, previously of Lombard, died Monday, Sept. 13, in Batavia.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 17, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Duran is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Jesse; children, Diana (the late Gene) Davis, David, Patrick (Brenda) and Ricardo (Nila); four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and siblings, Ralph (Elsa), Delores (the late Louie) Vela, Anita (the late Al) Curtis, Mary Lou (the late John) Diaz, Eleanor Sierkowski, Frank, Ester (the late Manual) Diaz, Mikki Wagner, Terry and Patricia. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Judy, Barbara, Richard and Raymond.
Mrs. Duran had worked at the Pentagon during World War II.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 651 W. Washington Blvd., Suite 400, Chicago, IL 60661, would be appreciated.

Evelyn Hitzke

Funeral services for Evelyn D. Hitzke, 89, of Chicago, were held Monday, Sept. 20, at Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights. Entombment was at Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mrs. Hitzke is survived by her children, Cheryl (the Rev. Thomas) Sanders and Jeannine; sister, Florence (the late George) Andrie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren W.; and siblings, Lorraine (Ed) Brunke, Ruth (Frank) Urban and Arlene Schroeder.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society or Lutheran Hour Ministry would be appreciated.

John Schlitt

John T. Schlitt, 66, formerly of Oak Park and Glendale Heights, died Monday, Sept. 20, at Westmont Convalescent Center in Westmont.
Funeral services and interment are private.
Mr. Schlitt is survived by his wife, Susan M. of Ohio, formerly of Lombard; children, Jennifer R. Baldwin, Emily A. and Matthew J.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond (Janet).
Mr. Schlitt was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a seven-year employee of Vickers Manufacturing and was a member of Paralyzed Veterans.

Henry Stelter Sr.

Henry C. Stelter Sr., 83, of East Troy, Wis., formerly of Lombard for 61 years, died Sunday, Sept. 19.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 24, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Stelter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty; children, James E. (Paula) of Villa Park; Christine (Stephen) Smith of Lombard and Catherine (Robert) Bles of Lombard; five grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Seiler of Lombard, Marlene Troyke, LaVerne Smith of Lombard, Emily Bonette and Audrey (Tony) Cooper; many nieces, nephews and friends; and sisters-in-law, Marion Rosenwinkel and Irma Stelter of Lombard. He was preceded in death by his son, Henry C.; brother, Leonard F. (Irma); and brothers-in-law, Richard Troyke, Roger Smith and Gilbert (Marion) Rosenwinkel.
Mr. Stelter was born and raised in Lombard. He was a graduate of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran School in 1941 and Glenbard (West) High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War in Europe. He built his home in Lombard and was a retired member of the local Elmhurst Carpenters Union. He owned Stelter Construction and was a former carpenter for Steuben Builders in Lombard.
As a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was a member of the Finance Committee for the new church in 1964 and served as trustee, elder, choir member and usher. He moved to East Troy in 1987 and was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He helped build the new Fellowship Hall and helped with other church remodeling.
For 13 years Mr. Stelter also drove a bus for East Troy Community School District and was a member of American Legion Post #188 in East Troy; was a former leader for Boy Scout Troop #57; and was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman.
