Evelyn Beck

Visitation for Evelyn E. Beck, of Lombard, is being held from 3-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 Roosevelt Road, (1/2 mile west of Route 83), Oakbrook Terrace.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the funeral home. Interment to follow.
Mrs. Beck was the beloved wife of Harold for 54 years; loving mother of Guy (Liz) and Gary (Michele); proud grandma of Christine, Kenn and Daniel; and step-grandma and step-great-grandma to many.
Evelyn was ahead of her time, a progressive business woman and dental hygienist, graduating from Northwestern University. She was proud to serve as past president of the Illinois Dental Hygienists Association.

Janet Dildine

A memorial gathering for Janet L. Dildine, nee Wait, 74, of Lombard, will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard (three blocks south of Roosevelt Road), from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
She was the beloved wife of David Dildine and the late Gary Fuchs; daughter-in-law of Louise Dildine-Brigham; loving mother of Brian Fuchs and Sherie Georgitsis; devoted grandmother of Loriale and Zakary Georgitsis and Tyler Fuchs; fond aunt of Jeanine (Robert) Osborn; and great aunt of Sarah and Ashley Osborn.
Mrs. Dildine was an OB GYN nurse for 30 years at the Elmhurst Clinic. Janet loved her grandchildren, the family pets, her garden, hummingbirds and bird feeders. Janet enjoyed going to her grandchildren's sporting events. She was very active with the Medinah Shriners of Addison.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriner's Children's Hospital are appreciated.

William Gray Jr.

William E. “Bill” “Duke” Gray Jr., 51, of Winfield, died suddenly Saturday, Sept. 25.
Memorial services are pending for Saturday, Oct. 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is private.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jeanine M.; daughter, Christina (Ron) Nelson; one grandson; mother, Bonnie J. (the late William Sr.) Gray; sisters, Barbara (Phil) Testa and Linda (Richard) Melfi; mother-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” (the late Punky) Shissler, formerly of Lombard; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Gray.
Mr. Gray grew up in Tinley Park, went to Tinley Park High School and was a resident of Winfield for 23 years. He was in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division in the late 1970s to 1980, and was currently attending College of DuPage. He loved his grandson, motorcycles and Country Music.

Louise Guido

Louise Guido, nee Varchetta, 88, of Lisle, formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, in Lisle.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 24, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Hillside.
Mrs. Guido is survived by her husband of 66 years, Carmen; children, Frances (Steven) Marino and Carmen S.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Rosa Olivetti, Nancy “Chickie” (Carmen) DeFalco, Rae Juliano Joseph and John Varchetta.
Mrs. Guido raised her family in Berwyn, where she belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Italian-American Civic Organization of Berwyn. The couple moved to Lombard in 1978, where they were members of Christ the King Parish until they moved to a Lisle retirement community in 2007.
Mrs. Guido was employed by Aldens in Chicago and retired in 1975. She also worked at the Yorktown mall in Lombard.

Ruth Elizabeth Hall

Ruth Elizabeth Hall, age 75, of Apple River, Illinois, died Friday, September 24, 2010, at Swedish-American Hospital, Rockford, Illinois.  Cremation rites have been accorded. 
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, September 29, 2010, at the Schapville Zion Presbyterian Church, Schapville, Illinois, with Reverend Dottie Morizzo officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the memorial service at the church. Burial will be in the Schapville Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Ruth was born on January 11, 1935, the daughter of Albert N. and Esther M. (Fanum) Swanson in Gary, Indiana. She attended Wheaton Community School and graduated with the Class of 1952. Ruth later attended Presbyterian-St. Luke's School of Nursing in Chicago where she completed her training as a registered nurse. She married Douglas D. Hall on August 12, 1955, in Wheaton, Illinois.
Ruth was a registered nurse and worked as an emergency room nurse for the Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois, and for Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was respected by her colleagues and was known for her excellent patient care. She also valued her role as a minister’s wife. Ruth and her husband, Douglas, a Presbyterian pastor, moved full time to Apple River after retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Schapville Zion Presbyterian Church, where she was involved in several church circles and participated in the church choir and played hand bells. Ruth enjoyed reading and traveling. Most of all, Ruth treasured spending time with her family and friends.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her husband, Douglas; one son, Scott (Kellie) Hall of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; four daughters, Karen (Dale) Goeke of Rochester, Minnesota, Deborah (Jeff) Vogt of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Helen Hall of Mountain View, California, and Christine (Mike) Clymer of Kingston, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Charlie, John and Jessica Goeke, Peter and Ed Vogt, Trischia (Matthew) Burdt/Hall, and Mitch Clymer; one step-granddaughter, Kaci Clymer and her daughter, Ava; and one sister, Helen Miller of Grahamsville, New York.

Margaret Hernbroth

Margaret J. Hernbroth, nee Voegtle, 82, of Lombard, died Thursday, Sept. 23, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 27, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Hernbroth is survived by her children, Brian of Lombard, Bruce (Kathy), Matthew (Rose) and Donna (Scott) Wittke of Lombard; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four siblings; and loving dog, Annie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew; and daughter-in-law, Patricia.
Mrs. Hernbroth was a Lombard resident of 53 years. She worked for the state of Illinois as a driver’s license examiner for over 30 years. She loved her summer home in Michigan and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid gardener but also loved swimming and fishing.

Katherine Lanis

Katherine L. “Kay” Lanis, nee Morgan, 84, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Bloomingdale.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 27, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Lanis is survived by her children, Robert (Terrie), Thomas (Charlee), Mary Kay of Villa Park, Kenneth (Barbara), Paul (Lisa) and Richard (Jodi); and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony “Tom,” brother, Bill Morgan; and sister, Audrey Huber.
Mrs. Lanis was born in Pittsburgh to Winifred and George Morgan. She graduated from Duquesne University and was a registered nurse at various hospitals and nursing homes throughout her career. She and her husband Tom relocated to Lombard, where she was a devoted member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She volunteered at church and gave much time to the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She enjoyed having family gatherings and the Lanises were known for having an open house for any and all to join them for the holidays.

Harriet Moelmann

Harriet Moelmann, nee Bannatyne, 96, of Lombard, died Monday, Aug. 30, in Lombard.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, at Beacon Hill Retirement Community in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mrs. Moelmann is survived by her children, Col. Jack Moelmann, USAF, Lynda Shearin and Larry (Colleen); four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
Mrs. Moelmann was a homemaker.

Anna Stakauskas

Anna Stakauskas, 94, died Sunday, Sept. 26.
A memorial Mass is being held Friday, Oct. 1, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is private.
Ms. Stakauskas is survived by her brother, Frank (the late Jean) Stack; four nieces; and two great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph, Sr. Generosa, S.S.C., and Gabriel (the late Lilian) Stakauskas.

Ann Takir

Ann Takir, 95, of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Elmhurst, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Sunrise Assisted Living, Glen Ellyn.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 25, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Takir is survived by her children, Patricia and Tom (Adrian); one granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony.
Mrs. Takir had lived at Sunrise Assisted Living for the past six months. She was born in Hartshorne, Okla., and moved to Chicago when she was 9. Eventually her family moved to Cicero where she lived, worked and raised her family for the next 60 years. Before moving to Glen Ellyn, she lived for 20 years in Elmhurst.
Upon retiring from Amphenol Mfg., she became an avid pinochle player who enjoyed helping others learn the game. She loved to read, and despite losing her vision to macular degeneration, she continued to enjoy reading via audio books.

Marilyn Tonn

Marilyn M. Tonn, nee McCormack, 70, of Warrenville, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, in Chicago.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 27, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Tonn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Howard E.; children, Christine T. (David) Ganjani, Andrew S.B. and W. Matthew (Jennifer); six grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Glenn) Heath and Ruth (Ed Coombs); and aunt and great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas (Jeannie) McCormack; and brother-in-law, Robert (the late JoAnn) Tonn.
Mrs. Tonn had worked as an executive secretary for the Railway Supply Institute, retiring in 2008. She was the former director of the York Township Senior Center, where she coordinated Meals on Wheels for 13 years; and past president of the Butterfield Women’s Club and the Butterfield Park District. She was an avid reader; an accomplished quilter; and a person who always had the creative touch, was a woman with a strict sense of etiquette, always cherished her children and grandchildren; and valued the friendships with her “sisters” who brought joy her life.
