Joan Heinrich

Joan Ann Heinrich, nee Walsh, 77, died Sunday, Aug. 29.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was held Thursday, Sept. 2, at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Heinrich is survived by her husband, John F.; children, Theresa (Barry) Miller, Cathy (John) Basic, Joann (John) Halverson and Steve (Sherry); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Ron (Marge) Cermak.

Ryan Mazgay

Funeral services for Ryan T. Mazgay, 20, of Lombard, were held Saturday, Sept. 4, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Mazgay is survived by his parents, Michael and Janice; siblings, Michael (Nicole) and Sean; grandparents, Melvin A. (Alice) Mazgay and Margaret F. Reid; a nephew and niece; uncles, Richard (Pamela) Mazgay and Steven (Lisa) Reid; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard R. (Sue) Reid.

Carol Reynolds

Carol Alice Reynolds, nee Halpenny, 66, of Lombard, died Monday, Aug. 30, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Reynolds is survived by her husband of 24 years, Oscar “Gene”; children, Amy J. (Michael) Castleberry and Albert (Suzanne) Muisenga; five grandchildren; stepchildren, Michele Reynolds and Scott Reynolds; brother, Douglas L. (Arlene) Halpenny; a niece and nephew; and many other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Reynolds was a resident of Wheaton for three years and was formerly of Lombard since the early 1960s. She was a 1963 graduate of Maine Township West High School in Des Plaines, and had owned The Beauty Shoppe on Park Avenue in Lombard from 1975-92. She was the owner of Oscar’s Billiards on North Avenue in Lombard with her husband from 1992-2007; and they also owned Oscar’s Place, a restaurant and bar, at 1847 W. Roscoe, Chicago, from 1984-92.
She attended all her granddaughter’s ball games, was a loving grandmother and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Robert Sheffler & Evelyn Sheffler

Robert H. “Buddy” Sheffler, 87, of Lombard, died Thursday, Sept. 2, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Evelyn Sheffler, nee Stripling, 87, of Lombard, died Friday, Sept. 6.
Their funeral services are being held today, Sept. 8, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheffler are survived by their daughters, Marjorie Brooks, Gerri (James) Chaplin and Cathy (Walter) Hajek of Lombard; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; Mrs. Sheffler’s brother, Calvin (Lorraine) Stripling; and sister-in-law, Dona (Tom) Ogorzelec. They were preceded in death by Mr. Sheffler’s siblings, Llewelyn, Warren, Myrtle and Viola.
The couple were residents of Lombard for 60 years and built their home in Lombard. Mr. Sheffler was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II and the Korean War. He served in the Pacific on Saipan and on the USS Boxer during the Korean War.
The Shefflers were longtime members of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where Mr. Sheffler was a trustee, elder and usher; helped with funeral luncheons and was active with the senior Bible study. He was active with the St. John’s Camping Group and played on the softball team. he was a member of the Lombard VFW Lilac Post #5815 and was also a longtime member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #73.
Mrs. Sheffler helped with scores of funeral luncheons at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was hard worker. She belonged to St. John’s Camping Group, and was a member of the senior Bible study. She had worked for District 45 in food service and retired in the 1970s. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and was a member of AAL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund or Alumni Scholarship Fund, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard, IL 60148; or the U.S. Navy Memorial, 701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 123, Washington, D.C. 20004, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Ingrid Weiser

Ingrid Dore Weiser, nee Rochau, 71, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 3, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. Patrick Boomhower officiating. Interment was private.
Mrs. Weiser is survived by her husband, Kurt; sons, Thomas and Steven (Barbara); two grandchildren; and siblings, Iris Himert and Karin Strobl.
Mrs. Weiser was born in Germany and was a homemaker.
