LaVerne Boland

Funeral services for LaVerne A. Boland, nee Sauve, 84, of Villa Park, were held Tuesday, Aug. 23, from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Boland is survived by her husband, John R. Sr.; children, Pat (Glen) Brooks, John R. Jr. (Kathy), Kathi (John) Mahler and Geri (Tom) Gill; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Vivian (William) Hancock; and many nieces and nephews.

Howard E. Brown

Howard E. Brown, May 15, 1920, to Aug. 6, 2011. Howard Brown, a longtime resident of Lombard, Ill., went to be with the Lord on Aug. 6, 2011.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Downers Grove, 929 Maple Ave., Downers Grove, IL 60515 (630-852-0800).
Howard Brown was born to John R. and Elma (Hill) Brown in Asheboro, N.C. He married Eleanore Jane Tocher on Nov. 22, 1950.
Howard is survived by his wife of 61 years, son Jeff of Lombard and Keith (Martha); and grandsons, Andrew, Scott and Timothy (of Colorado Springs, Colo.); and daughter Wendy (Doyle) Heimann, and grandson, Matthew, of Westmont, Ill.; and his sister, Helen Phillips of Asheboro, N.C.
Howard was a devoted son, a loving husband and father, a fabulous father-in-law, and an awesome grandfather to four young men. He was a chemical engineer at Reichold Chemical Company for most of his career; and he was also involved in the local community, most recently as a member of the Lombard Senior Men’s Club. He was involved in the YMCA Indian Guides, PTA, Toastmasters, and enjoyed participating in stained glass classes.
The family wishes to thank Jeff Brown for his unfailing devotion and care he gave his father during his last years of life.

Alice Hasil

Funeral services for Alice E. Hasil, 88, of Lombard, are being held today, Aug. 24, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Hasil is survived by her children, Leonard (Priscilla) and Doris Taylor; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Doubis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve; son, Steve (Victoria); and nine brothers and sisters.

Mary Elizabeth Holton

Mary Elizabeth Holton, 68, of Locke, N.Y., wife of Gerald Holton Jr. and daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Holton Sr. of Lombard, Ill., passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at Auburn Memorial Hospital in Auburn, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, at All Souls Anglican Church, 25W741 Jewell Road, Wheaton, Ill, at 2 p.m.

Nancy Kerr

Nancy L. Kerr, nee Lytle, 64, of Lombard, died Saturday, Aug. 20, at Hinsdale Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 22, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Kerr is survived by her husband, Marty; brothers, James (Rita), Thomas of Lombard and Michael (Janelle); three nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and great-nephews; and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Borak. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Lytle.
Mrs. Kerr had been a resident of Lombard for the last 15 years. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Notre Dame High School, and retired from United Food and Commercial Workers Union as a document manager in 2007, where she had worked for 27 years. She loved animals.

Donald I. Lowe

Donald I. Lowe (Feb. 8, 1927), passed away Friday, Aug. 19, at Oakridge Convalescent Home in Hillside, Ill.
A Memorial Service will be held at Community Presbyterian Church in Lombard, Ill., this Friday, Aug. 26, at 10 a.m.
Don leaves his wife of 62 years, Muriel Lowe (nee Pease); his three daughters, Donna Keller (Norman), Carol Voss and Kathi Lowe. He is also survived by his seven loving grandchildren, as well as his eight great-grandchildren.
Donald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He faced a battle with Alzheimer’s disease and was taken by our Lord this past Friday. He was a member of the U.S. Navy, a longtime employee of the Westinghouse Company, and an active member of the Lombard Presbyterian Church.

Domingo Stabolito

Domingo Stabolito, 88, of Lombard, died Friday, Aug. 19, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Stabolito is survived by his wife of 66 years, Guadalupe; son, George; daughter-in-law, Francine Stabolito; grandchildren; a sister and brother; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stabolito grew up in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and was a resident of Lombard for 43 years. He was a member of the Lions organization in Chicago. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Bobbie Taylor

Bobbie R. Taylor, 78, of Villa Park, died Sunday, Aug. 21.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 25, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 26, at the funeral home. Interment is at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 56 years, Norma A.; children, Bonnie (Bert) Dale and Vickie (Jeff) Dale; five grandchildren; brother, Harold Gene (Mary) Taylor; many nieces and nephews; and best friends, Mandy, Zoey and Charlie.
Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

Mary Zilla

Mary A. Zilla, nee Russell, 64, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, at home surrounded by her family, after a valiant struggle with a brain tumor.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 20, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mrs. Zilla is survived by her husband, Thomas A.; children, Thomas J. (Ashley), Margaret M. “Peggy” of Lombard and Joseph M; one grandson; brothers, Jack (Rose) Russell, James (Patricia) Russell and Dennis Russell; sister-in-law, Geraldine Russell; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard Russell.
Mrs. Zilla was a resident of Lombard for 34 years. She was a member of the Women’s VFW Auxiliary #5815 in Lombard, and was a longtime active member and volunteer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she also served as a Eucharistic minister.
