Mary Collins

Mary Christine Collins, nee Brewer, 80, of Lombard, died Wednesday, July 27, in Lombard, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 1, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with Cindy Wallace, chaplain of Alexian Brothers Hospice, officiating. Interment was private at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her children, Thomas, Donald and Diane, all of Lombard, and Thelma (Greg) Warner; three grandchildren; and siblings, Nell Griffith, Nina Sawyers, Fred and Wilbur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; and son, David.
Mrs. Collins was born in Sharon, Tenn., and was a resident of Lombard since 1962. She was an active member of the Lombard VFW Post #5815 Ladies Auxiliary and was a founding member of the Meadowlark Quilting Club; she was able to quit until the last days of her life.

Lillian Farina

Funeral services for Lillian J. Farina, nee Tomasello, 97, were held Saturday, July 30, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Farina is survived by her children, Joseph (Jeanne) and Leonard (Nanette); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Kay Decker; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and siblings, Mae Canzoneri, Joseph Tomasello, Ida Bowman, Mary Wilkenson and Martin Tomasello.

Veronica Favela-Martinez

Veronica Favela-Martinez, 39, of Villa Park, died Thursday, July 28, in Villa Park.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 2, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Corbino officiating. Interment was private.
Mrs. Favela-Martinez is survived by her parents, Miguel and Aurora Favela; husband, Rafael; children, Jesus Favela, Dimitri Angel Torres and Constantine; and siblings, Lorraine, Jose M. and Ricardo A. Favela.
Mrs. Favela-Martinez had worked as a pharmacy technician.

Harold Lessman

Harold C. Lessman, 88, of Lombard, died Sunday, July 31, at Lexington Health Care, Elmhurst.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 4, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 5, at the funeral home. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Lessman is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret; children, Clifton H. (Tammy) and Barbara J. Vogt of Lombard; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Lessman was a resident of Lombard since 1957. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and was based in the Philippines; and had worked for Jay’s Potato Chips for 41 years. He was an avid practical joker and loved camping.

Patrick Roche

Visitation for Patrick E. “Pete” Roche, 67, of Villa Park, is being held today, Aug. 3, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Mr. Roche is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Kimberly (Rob) Stoltz; two grandchildren; siblings, Nancy (the late Bud) Foust, Rochelle (Thomas) Hankinson, Katy (Gary) Dockins and Jack Roche; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas “Bunk” Roche.

Louis Shurba

Louis D. Shurba, 75, of Lombard, died Saturday, July 30, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
Funeral services are being held today, Aug. 3, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Shurba is survived by his siblings, Anthony, Henry (Julie), Mary Lou Haske, Gloria (Dominic) D’Ambrosia of Lombard and Joann Rossini; sister-in-law, Mary; brother-in-law, Philip Muratore of Lombard; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis V. and Josephine M.; siblings, Charles, Domiano (Judith) and Domenica Muratore; brothers-in-law, Michael Haske and James Rossini; and sister-in-law, Darlene.

Betty Snyder

Betty M. Snyder, nee Rosenkrans, 75, of Villa Park, died Monday, July 25, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 28, with prayers from Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park, to Mass at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Snyder is survived by her children, David (Jacqueline), Susan (Wayne) Kozack and Sandra (Thomas) Luby; five grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Milkoski and Patricia Brainerd; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E.; siblings, Grace, Anne, Rose, Mary and Bud; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Milkoski and Roy Brainerd.
Mrs. Snyder was a resident of Villa Park for 53 years. She was very active in the community, including gardening, animal care and scouting.

Marguerite Thompson

Marguerite L. Thompson, 90, of Lombard, died Thursday, July 28, at Lexington Healthcare Center, Lombard.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was a Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughters, Marguerite and Patricia Lindmark; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert.
Mrs. Thompson was a resident of Lombard since 1968 and had retired from Western Electric. She was very active at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Bret Wilkinson

Bret W. Wilkinson, 47, of McHenry, died Sunday, July 31.
Visitation is being held today, Aug. 3, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Funeral services are being held Thursday, Aug. 4, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Glyman officiating. Interment is at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Wilkinson is survived by his parents, Charles and Judith Wilkinson of Lombard; wife, Cassie; children, Shannon and Michael Dunwoody, Sheila and Ardell Scienski, Stephanie and Robert Cristophersen, Rayna and Brooke Lynn Wilkinson; five grandchildren; siblings, Dale, Corey and Mary Wilkinson, Tracy and Tom Bushka, and Heather and Petteri Litmanen; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wilkinson was an operating engineer and a member of Local #150.
