Howard E. Brown

Howard E. Brown, May 15, 1920, to Aug. 6, 2011. Howard Brown, a longtime resident of Lombard, Ill., went to be with the Lord on Aug. 6, 2011.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Downers Grove, 929 Maple Ave., Downers Grove, IL 60515 (630-852-0800).
Howard Brown was born to John R. and Elma (Hill) Brown in Asheboro, N.C. He married Eleanore Jane Tocher on Nov. 11, 1950.
Howard is survived by his wife of 61 years, son Jeff of Lombard and Keith (Martha); and grandsons, Andrew, Scott and Timothy (of Colorado Springs, Colo.); and daughter Wendy (Doyle) Heimann, and grandson, Matthew, of Westmont, Ill.; and his sister, Helen Phillips of Asheboro, N.C.
Howard was a devoted son, a loving husband and father, a fabulous father-in-law, and an awesome grandfather to four young men. He was a chemical engineer at Reichold Chemical Company for most of his career; and he was also involved in the local community, most recently as a member of the Lombard Senior Men’s Club. He was involved in the YMCA Indian Guides, PTA, Toastmasters, and enjoyed participating in stained glass classes.
The family wishes to thank Jeff Brown for his unfailing devotion and care he gave his father during his last years of life.

Hubert Denner

Funeral services for Hubert W. Denner, 84, of Villa Park, were held Monday, Aug. 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Denner is survived by his siblings, Luella (the late Greig Sr.) Forrest, the Rev. Eugene (Delaine) Denner and Marion (the late Joseph) DeLeon; many nieces and nephews; and good friends who crossed his path. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Herbert; and siblings, Doris (Dale) Pfaff and Donald Denner.
Mr. Denner had retired after 34 years with American Airlines.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Legion or Veterans of Foreign Wars post of your choice would be appreciated.

Ruth Hoffman

Funeral services for Ruth L. Hoffman, nee Felsch, 85, of Villa Park, were held Tuesday, Aug. 30, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mrs. Hoffman was the aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert C.; and brother, Otto (Margaret) Felsch.
Mrs. Hoffman was a longtime active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, 545 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, IL 60181, to which memorials would be appreciated.

Mary Elizabeth Holton

Mary Elizabeth Holton, 68, of Locke, N.Y., wife of Gerald Holton Jr. and daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Holton Sr. of Lombard, Ill., passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at Auburn Memorial Hospital in Auburn, N.Y.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 27, at All Souls Anglican Church in Wheaton.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Gerald G. Holton Jr.; two sons, David and Dean (Stephanie) Weckerle; a sister, Marilyn (Tom) Halaska; 16 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of the late John F. and Elizabeth Bauer Walenta. Mary Beth graduated from Milwaukee County General Hospital in 1961 as an R.N. and worked in various Wisconsin nursing facilities. She owned and operated a dance studio in Wisconsin and competed nationally in country western dance. She and her husband, Jerry, moved to Locke in December 2001.

Frank Jurado

Frank R. Jurado, 70, of Lombard, died Friday, Aug. 26, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services are being held today, Aug. 31, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mr. Jurado is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dana; children, Sonia (Jim) Jurado-Tammen, Alex (Bridget) and Erick of Lombard; five grandchildren; siblings, Catita Garzon, Miriam (Eduardo) Guerrero, Celinda (Raul) Benavides, Manolo (Mercedes) Villacis, Mario (Maria Teresa), David (Isabel), Patricio (Iliana), Fabian and Ricardo (Diane); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lizette; sister, Erlinda Villacis; and brother-in-law, Cesar Garzon.
Mr. Jurado was a resident of Lombard for 37 years. He was a very active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, loved music and was very active in Lombard soccer.

Nancy Watkins

Nancy Ann Watkins, nee DeShazor, 76, of Lombard, died Friday, Aug. 26, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 30, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Naperville. Interment was private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Mrs. Watkins is survived by her children, Donald “Jake” Jr. (Nancy), Bruce (Mary), Michael “Ralph” (Diana) of Villa Park, David “Beau” (Erin), Rebecca of Villa Park, Elizabeth “Ibby” (Bob) Piper, Catherine “Kate” of Villa Park, Martha “Mimi,” Amy and Rachel (Bill) Romano of Lombard; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sue McClanahan and Pete (Sylvia) DeShazor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald P.
Mrs. Watkins was a retired clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. In recent years, she had been working at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard and Tri-Town YMCA.
Memorials to Tri-Town YMCA or Loyola Medicine Hospice Center would be appreciated.
