Sandro Baccelli

A memorial Mass for Sandro N. Baccelli, 76, of Villa Park, will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Baccelli is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Leo (Kalvin), Debra (Mark) Mace, Sandro N., Vicki and Michael (Corey); 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Rena (Peter) Campanela; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his children, Laurie Longfield and Scott Longfield; and sister, Ella Lewis.

Shirley Bair

Shirley A. Bair, nee Baranek, 65, a 40-year resident of Lombard, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, in Lombard, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 11, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. James the Apostle Church in Glen Ellyn. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Bair is survived by her husband, Edward N.; sons, Steven (Maureen), Michael (Becky) and Christopher (Laura); seven grandchildren; sister, Lorraine (Lou) Moe; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Guadalupe Baldwin

Guadalupe G. Baldwin, nee Gomez, 77, a 40-year resident of Lombard, died Monday, Feb. 7, at Lexington Healthcare in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Baldwin is survived by her husband, Roy H.; siblings, Christine (Russell) Siragusa and Edward (Mary Ann) Gomez of Lombard; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia.

Sam Battaglia

Sam Battaglia, 84, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Manor Care in Hinsdale.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 11, at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Battaglia is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Daniel) McCrory; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Jr. (Arlene); sister-in-law, Nancy; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; sister, Annette Peterson; and brother, Joseph.
Mr. Battaglia had been a resident of Lombard since 1966. He was a graduate of Farragut High School in Chicago and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the occupation of Japan. He retired from Western Electric after 42 years, and was a member of the VFW and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Anthony Caruso

Anthony J. Caruso, 84, of Villa Park, died Monday, Feb. 7, in St. Charles.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 11, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. Damien Graziano officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Caruso is survived by his children, Patricia M. (Thomas) Cook and Anthony S. (Carolyn); five grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley (Frank) Qualtier; and a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred.
Mr. Caruso had worked in shipping and manufacturing.

Edward Danz Jr.

Edward J. Danz Jr., 89, a 50-year resident of Lombard, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Lexington in Lombard.
A funeral Mass is being held today, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Danz is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan, nee VanSistine; daughter, Debra (Keith) Lindberg; son, Joseph (Sue) Bartuch; grandchildren, Bradley (Michelle) Jones, Krista (John) Cozzi, and Michael (Lorin) and David Lindberg; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Sophia, Cecilia, Charlotte and Dominic; siblings, Shirley, Albert (Joan), Marilyn Kuligoski, John, Elaine, Donald (Jan), William, Caren Gorka and Diane (Bruce) Sabini; sister-in-law, Jacquelyn Danz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ken (the late Colletta) and Arthur; sister, Norma; brothers-in-law, Joseph Kuligoski and Ron Gorka; and sister-in-law, Toni Danz.
Mr. Danz was born June 28, 1921, in Manitowoc, Wis., and raised in Oak Park, Ill. He graduated from St. Mel High School in Chicago, and was a veteran of World War II and Korea, where he was a pilot of fuel tankers with the 126th Air Refueling Wing. He retired in 1973 from the U.S. Air Force as a full-bird colonel.
Mr. Danz was the former owner of Lincoln Photo Center and Lab in Lombard from 1964 until his retirement in June 2006.

Alice Dolan

Funeral services for Alice M. Dolan, nee Miller, 90, of Elmhurst, were held Sunday, Feb. 13, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Dolan is survived by her daughter, MaryAnn (the late Kenneth) Krause; two grandchildren; siblings, Gertrude Zahn, Margaret Zahn, Ruth Bastiansen and Herbert (Geraldine) Miller; and was the aunt and great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome J.

Carolyn Griesheimer

Carolyn Katherine Griesheimer, 98 years of age, originally from Lombard, Ill., passed away on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, in Austin, Texas.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, at Chapel Hill Gardens West, 17W201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, and she was laid to rest adjacent to her husband, Edward, at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mrs. Griesheimer is survived by her son, Ronald E. (Christine) Griesheimer of Wadsworth, Ill., and his three children, Amy Griesheimer of Denver, Colo., and her two children, David Griesheimer of Denver, Colo., and his two children, and Thomas Griesheimer; her daughter, Connie Cleveland of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, her daughter, Laura Brennan, and her three children; and her son, John (Liz) Griesheimer, of Austin, Texas, and their two children, Adam and RaeBeth; and was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Griesheimer Stutz, leaving three children, Eddie, Amanda and Douglas.
Mrs. Griesheimer was born on July 21, 1912, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Julius Knapp and Clara Knapp. She was married to Edward R. Griesheimer, who preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1957. While living in Lombard, she was active in the Eastern Star, organizations within the First Church of Lombard and was active in her children’s activities at school.

Ferol Gilliland

Ferol M. Gilliland, 90, of Lombard, died Monday, Feb. 7.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was at 1st Lutheran Cemetery in Alsip.
Ms. Gilliland is survived by many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Johanna Gilliland; and sister, Betty Jean.
Ms. Gilliland was born in Oak Park and graduated from Blue Community High School in 1939. She was a resident of Lombard since 1963 and spent her last few years in Lexington Square, Lombard. She was a registered radiologic technologist, and had a 44-year career as a medical laboratory and radiologic technologist in a supervisory capacity, dividing employment years equally between the former Joslyn Clinic in Maywood and the offices of Meyer, Meyer and Albers in Lombard, retiring from the latter in 1985.
Ms. Gilliland held membership in two professional groups; the Illinois State and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She served as an officer of the state society and on several committees of the national society. In 1973, she received the DuPont Service Award for Continuous Dedicated Service in Promoting Radiologic Technology in District Two of the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists.
She was a member of the Lutheran Woman’s League of Chicago, the Auxiliary of the West Suburban Society for the Retarded and the Friends of the Library in Lombard; was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church for 48 years in La Grange; and was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bible study classes, the Altar Guild and as a worker in the church library.
Memorials to a favorite charity would be appreciated.

Mary Mischke

Funeral services and interment for Mary A. Mischke, nee Thiele, 89, of Villa Park and Madison, Ill., are private.
Mrs. Mischke is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Michael) Sprague of Villa Park; two granddaughters; a great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and siblings, Helen, Lester, Raymond and Robert.

Bette Sanders Olson, 88, of Villa Park, formerly of New Port Richey, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 10.

Rosemary Pavese

Rosemary C. Pavese, nee Lipuma, 85, of Villa Park, died Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Dennis Segovia

Dennis Segovia, 50, of Lombard, died in his sleep from heart disease.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 12, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Mr. Segovia is survived by his mother, Mila; sister, Dr. Adrienne (Dr. James) Filkins; and was the uncle of many. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Segovia.
Mr. Segovia was a 1990 graduate of John Marshall Law School.
