Richard Dal Porto

Funeral services for Richard J. Dal Porto were held Monday, Feb. 7, at St. Alexander Catholic Church, Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Dal Porto is survived by his children, Maureen (Jim) Marlovitz, Kathleen, Michael, Timothy (Raquel), Margaret (Dan) Utterback, Richard (Kathy) and Antonette (Karl) Lang; 13 grandchildren; and brother, Albert (the late Angela) Dal Porto. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel.
Mr. Dal Porto was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Local # 1 Ironworkers.

Paul Geuss

Paul Geuss, 89, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Manor Care in Westmont.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 4, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mr. Geuss is survived by his children, Gregory (Judi) and Paula (Mark) Tanabe; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma I.
Mr. Geuss was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

Ferol Gilliland

Ferol M. Gilliland, 90, of Lombard died Monday, Feb. 7.

Mae Horna

Mae Horna, nee Kolbek, 95, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Loyola Hospital in Maywood.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 7, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
Mrs.  Horna is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Jerry) Sherman, JoAnn Heyman of Lombard and Margaret (John) Marinovich of Lombard; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles G.; son-in-law, Charles Heyman; and one sister and two brothers.
Mrs. Horna was a resident of Lombard for 16 years. She was formerly of Chicago, where she grew up. She had retired after 25 years of service as an LPN with Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago. Her loves in life included family, dogs, reading traveling, crocheting and crossword puzzles.

Alice Kurzeja

Alice D. Kurzeja, nee Razniewski, 92, of Villa Park, died Thursday, Feb. 3, at Central DuPage Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 7, with prayers from Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park, to Mass at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mrs. Kurzeja is survived by her children, Kenneth C. (Pauline), Carol A. (David) Sims, Robert J. (Carolyn), Paul L. (Jacqueline) and Matthew T. (Zoriana); four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Thomas (Sophie) Kurzeja; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis R.; and siblings, Edward (Georgiana) and Chester (Roseann).
Mrs. Kurzeja had been a resident of Villa Park for 42 years.

Daniel Lilly

Daniel R. Lilly, 46, of Bensenville, died Friday, Feb. 4, at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood.
Funeral services are being held today, Feb. 9, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park. Interment is at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Lilly is survived by his daughters. Ashley and Misty; brother, Thomas (Cheryl); father, James (Jeanette); three grandchildren; a nephew and a niece; stepfather, Terry Clark; former wife, Marci J. Lilly; and aunts, Betty (Jack) Kaup and Irene (Russ) Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Clark; and brother, James Lilly.
Mr. Lilly grew up in the Leyden Township/Villa Park/Northlake area and graduated from Addison Trail High School in 1982. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as an M1 tank driver from 1983-85. He was a carpenter, artist and storyteller, loved to read and loved animals.

Carol Mae Max

Carol Mae Max, nee Delury, 77, a 50-year resident of Lombard, Ill., passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, after a long fight with cancer.
A private service and interment will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.   
She was the beloved mother of Douglas (Donna), Michael, Kenneth (Dyan), Edward, Marylu and James; loving grandmother of Michael, Miranda, Marissa, Paul, Daniel, Elle, Robert and Damian; and fond sister and dear aunt of many.

Josephine Montes

Josephine C. Montes, nee Schiavone, 87, of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Lombard for 42 years, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton.
Private funeral and committal services were held on Monday, Feb. 7, with the Rev. Peter Jarosz of Christ the King Church officiating. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Montes is survived by her children, Emily Adkinson, Michael (Jodie) and Antoinette (Randy) Marcellis; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Tony Schiavone and Ann Schiavone; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Schiavone.
Mrs. Montes had worked as a lunch woman in a school cafeteria.

Funeral services for Robert M. Orlando, 81, of St. Charles, formerly of Villa Park, will be held today, Feb. 9, at St. Alexander Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment is private.
Mr. Orlando is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Pam (Bob) English, Michael, Greg (Judi), Steven (the late Kim), Geri (Mark) Sychowski and Dan; six grandchildren; sister, Joan Orlando; and was an uncle of many and friend to all who knew him.

Lois Quinn

Lois Quinn, 81, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services are being held today, Feb. 9, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Quinn is survived by her children, John W. (Mary), Richard S. (Linda) and Patty; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, John F.
Mrs. Quinn was a volunteer at Marianjoy and also at food kitchens.

Betty Mae Harcourt Spyrison

Betty Mae Harcourt Spyrison, 85, formerly of Villa Park, Ill., passed away Jan. 27, 2011, in Freeport, Ill.
A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date in Moscow, Ind.
Mrs. Spyrison is survived by four sons and nine grandchildren: Dr. Stephen (Vicki) Spyrison of Freeport, with grandchildren Sarah Jane, Benjamin and Tyler; Douglas (Terry) Spyrison of Dubuque, Iowa, with grandchildren Alan, Nicholas and Claire; Philip (Gloria) Spyrison of Tomah, Wis.; and Mark (Lisa) Spyrison of Aurora, Ill., with grandchildren Sam, Anna and Jacob; sisters, Marilyn (Morris) Woods of Brownsburg, Ind., and Maurita (the late Dr. Robert D.) Ball of Richmond, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Harcourt Jr., of Milroy, Ind., and his wife, Betsy.
Mrs. Spyrison was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Rushville, Ind., to Russell and Flo Hayes Harcourt. She graduated from Milroy High School in 1944 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948 from Indiana University, majoring in bacteriology and chemistry. She was a laboratory technician at General Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind., before marrying Harry Spyrison, attorney and businessman, on Jan. 22, 1950. She became a radiology technician in Illinois and later earned a realtor’s license.
Mrs. Spyrison was a member of DAR and enjoyed quilting, penning poetry, painting, dogs and farm animals, gardening and other outdoor activities.
Memorial funds can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or Hospice in her name.

Louis Trizner

Louis Trizner, 96, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services and interment are private.
Mr. Trizner is survived by his daughter, Lois (Raymond) Cortesi of Lombard; two granddaughters; sister, Betty Palmer; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Trizner and Helen Phillips; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice J.; brother, Steve; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Palmer and James Phillips.
Mr. Trizner was a resident of Lombard for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

Marion Van Leuven

Marion Van Leuven, nee Deraedt, of Lombard, died Sunday, Feb. 6, in Lombard.
Visitation will be today, Feb. 9, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 10, at Sacred Heart Parish. Interment is private.
Mrs. Van Leuven is survived by her husband, Henry Joseph; children, Laura (Ruben) Vazquez, Betty (Larry) Van Leuven Goldberg, Nancy (Mark) Weinert, David (Kandy), Mary (Richard) Van Leuven Wyman and Annette (John) Van Leuven Clark; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary (the late Albert) Van DeVelde, Harriet (Babe) Van De Velde and Margaret (Jim) Bruha; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank (the late Lorraine) Deraedt.
Mrs. Van Leuven was a homemaker. She ran the home business for Barricade Lites Inc. while raising her six children and running the household. She enjoyed cooking, antiquing, quilting and spending time with her large family, especially the children. She loved her in-laws and playing Belgian card games. She was gracious and accommodating to all who visited and provided nourishment for the body and soul. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Robert Watson

Robert J. Watson, 55, of Wheaton, died Saturday, Feb. 5, at Edward Hospital in Naperville.
Visitation will be held today, Feb. 9, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home. Interment is private.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of 28 years, Eileen; daughters, Courtney (Kevin) Perna and Shannon; one grandson; sisters, Marilou and Cindi Jacobs; and many other family and friends.
Mr. Watson grew up in Lombard. His passion was basketball, and he refereed high school basketball for over 25 years. He belonged to many different IHSA basketball associations and loved watching his children play sports, especially basketball.
