Bruno Daube

Bruno Douglas Daube, 78, of Lombard, died Friday, Jan. 21, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 25, at St. John’s Evangelical Church in Lombard. Interment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Daube is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruth; children, Douglas (Cheryl) and Daniel; three grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Robert (Rose) Glick, David (Kathy) Glick and Nathan (Barbara) Glick; and sister-in-law, Vivian Glick.
Mr. Daube attended Arden Shore Academy in Lake Bluff; Carl Schurz High School in Chicago; the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he received a B.S. in Business Administration; DePaul University in Chicago; and the Art Institute in Chicago, where he received an Associate of Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art Education. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War.
He had worked as director of membership services for the Chicago Medical Society, was conference director for the American Marketing Association and was an independent building material broker for various trades in the Chicago area.
Mr. Daube was commissioned as a chaplain with the Northside Ecumenical Night Ministry; served as a medical chaplain with Lutheran Church Charities in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; was the recipient of numerous letters from officials in local, state and U.S. government commending his decades of public service to the poor, including a nomination for the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize; and served until his death as volunteer chaplain at the Lakeview Nursing Home in Chicago.
He loved history, art, reading, music, time with family and serving his fellow man. An orphan himself at the age of 13, he eventually would become a devoted advocate for those less fortunate in life. Despite facing great hardships during his younger years, he considered himself to have had a wonderful life.

Deacon Frederick Francl

Deacon Frederick C. Francl, 71, of Lombard, died Monday, Jan. 17, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 21, at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was private.
Deacon Francl is survived by his wife, Grace; children, Michael (Jennifer), Tim (Cher), Mark (Donna) and Karen Francl, PhD; four grandchildren; and three brothers and sisters.
Deacon Francl was a resident of Lombard since 1979. He grew up in Riverside and was a graduate of Benet High School. He was a 1961 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a 1970 graduate with his MBA from the University of Chicago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as an officer from 1962-64 during the Vietnam War.
He had worked for 20 years as a software consultant-engineer for Northrup, and later worked for Sonicraft Co. and then owned his own business. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was ordained a Roman Catholic deacon in September 2001 at Christ the King Church, and served there until his death.

Adam Gorski

Funeral services for Adam M. Gorski, 84, were held Tuesday, Jan. 25, at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Gorski is survived by his children, Michael (Nancy), Christopher, Timothy, Jenifer (Jay) Primas and Susan (Tom) Turen; three grandchildren; and was a brother and uncle to many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; and son, Daniel.
Mr. Gorski was retired after being a 36-year employee of Nicor.

Paul Marousek

Paul R. Marousek, 68, of Lombard, died suddenly of a heart attack on Saturday, Jan. 22.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan 27, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 28, at the funeral home. Interment is private.
Mr. Marousek is survived his children, Laura (Mike) Cerro, Sarah of Lombard and Paul; two grandchildren; siblings, Frank (Pat) of Lombard, Marge Patner and Theresa; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and former wife, Christine Marousek of Lombard.
Mr. Marousek was a resident of Lombard for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was the owner of Panel Manufacturing in Aurora. He was a member of American Legion Post #391 in Lombard and of the Knights of Columbus #1691 of Berwyn. He loved to fish, golf, bike and hunt; and found great joy in spending time with his granddaughters. His sense of humor will be missed.

Arlene Merl

Arlene L. Merl, nee Sufalko, 72, formerly of Lombard, died Sunday, Jan. 23, at Wauconda Health Center in Wauconda.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Merl is survived by her daughter, Janice H.; brother, Dr. Arnold Sufalko; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; aunt, Ann Wisniewski; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, George R.; son, Gregory; and uncle, Stanley Wisniewski.
Mrs. Merl had been a resident of Lombard for 40 years. She had been an assistant at the Helen M. Plum Memorial Library, and was a member of the Red Hat Society at Belmont Village. Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombared.

Doris Witten

Doris E. Witten, nee Wiberg, 85, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook.
Funeral services and interment were private.
Mrs. Whitten is survived by her son, Marvin (Therese) Cichlar of Lombard; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; and sons, Bruce and Gary.
Mrs. Witten was born in Chicago and was formerly of Sandwich, Ill.
