Deacon Tom Bailey

Deacon Tom J. Bailey, 70, of Lombard, died Monday, July 4, in Lombard.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard, and Friday, July 8, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife of 48 1/2 years, Mary; children, Colleen (Grant) Wick, Terry (Wendy), Timothy (Danielle) of Lombard and Brian (Vicki); and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert; and brother, Robert, U.S. Navy, KIA, World War II.
Mr. Bailey grew up in Chicago and was a resident of Lombard for 36 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War from 1960-68, when he was the recipient of numerous medals and ribbons. He was a product service engineer for Motorola for over 30 years.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Lombard VFW Lilac Post. He was ordained in 1984 and was a deacon for Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 27 years, was a member of the Holy Name Society and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, had worked with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and was very active in all phases of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, working for Jesus.

Robert Bartel

Visitation for Robert L. Bartel, 79, of Lombard, is being held today, July 6, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Bartel is survived by his son, Patrick (Jill); and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie E.; and son, Michael.
Mr. Bartel was the owner of Bartel’s Standard (Ardmore and Roosevelt) from 1958-95, and was the present owner of Bartel’s Auto Clinic in Carol Stream and Oswego. He was a member of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Villa Park Lions Club and past president of the Illinois Skeet Shooting Association from 1981-84.

Curtis Chrisman

Curtis L. Chrisman, 91, of Lombard, died June 27, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Internment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Chrisman is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn; children, Clark (Renee) and Melody (Larry) Mathieu, five grandchildren; and sister, Doris Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Chrisman.
Mr. Chrisman had been a resident at Lexington Healthcare since December, 2010, and was formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, and Chicago before living in Lombard for 55 years. He grew up in Rockford and was educated in Rockford schools. Later he attended Ray Vogue School of Art and Design in Chicago where he graduated as a commercial artist. He worked for various art studios in Chicago and retired in 1983.
Mr. Chrisman was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the China-India-Burma Theater from 1942-1945. He was a corporal QMC and received the Service Stripe, five overseas ribbons, the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal, as well as being a sharpshooter.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved all aspects of Mother Nature. He enjoyed gardening, picnicking and the family enjoyed doing these things together. Both he and his wife Marilyn had been members of First United Methodist Church of Lombard for 55 years.

Charles Maney Sr.

Funeral services for Charles H. Maney Sr., of Plainfield, formerly of  Villa Park, were held Friday, July 1, at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Maney is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Charles H. Jr. (Martha), Joseph A., Terrance Jude (Jill), Patrick M. (Connie), Maribeth, Suzane P. (Alan) Jones and Peter M.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Francis J. (Lucille), John R. (Betty) and Daniel E. (Mary).

Marilyn Morgan

Marilyn M. Morgan, 82, of Lombard, formerly of Lincoln Park, Chicago, died Wednesday, June 29, at Beacon Hill Health Care in Lombard.
Visitation and funeral services are being held today, July 6, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is at Fairmount Willow Hills Memorial Park in Willow Springs.
Ms. Morgan is survived by her siblings, Lillian M. Keck of Lombard and James P. Morgan; sister-in-law, Sally Morgan; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward F.; and brother-in-law, Harry Keck.
Ms. Morgan was an English teacher ar Evanston Township High School for 25 years, retiring in 1993. and was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Lombard.

Esther Rohde

Funeral services for Esther Rohde, nee Poland, of Lombard, were held Friday, July 1, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyer Road, Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Rohde is survived by her husband, LeRoy “Sonny”; children, Charlotte (Daniel) Domaracki, Donna (Ralph) Novielli, Lee Ann (the late Ronald) Fisher, Jan (Mario) Terran and Roy; sister, Maryanne (Donald) Rohde; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Marie Poland; son, Mark; grandson, Ronald Lee; parents-in-law, Otto and Bertha O. Rohde; and siblings, Charles (the late Bertha), George (Phyllis) and Matthew (the late Katherine) Heintzelmann, Marie (the late Vito) Aiello, Frances (the late Joseph) Scordo, Martin Poland Jr., Agnes (the late Rudolph) Zibrid, Joseph (Gladys) Poland, John (the late Helen) Poland and Patricia (James) Beard.
Mrs. Rohde was a homemaker.
