Catherine Arias

Funeral services for Catherine P. Arias, nee McDonald, 79, of Glen Ellyn, Lombard and Villa Park, were held Friday, June 3, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Arias is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Stephen, Christopher (Kathleen), Nancy Dobry, Paul (Loretta) and Laura (Mike) Zielinski; and 13 grandchildren.

John Benson

Funeral and burial services for John L. Benson, 48, of Lombard, are private.
Mr. Benson is survived by his mother, Rita I.; siblings, William H. of Lombard, Janet I. of Lombard, Rosemary (Robert) Baines and Annette T. (Rich) Janes; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry W.; and brother, Charles N.
Mr. Benson was a lifelong resident of Lombard. He was a former student at Little Friends School.

Susan Blayney

A memorial visitation for Susan G. Blayney, nee Hammond, 51, of Lombard, was held Saturday, June 4, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mrs. Blayney is survived by her husband, Kevin Patrick; children, Nathan, Kevin Jr., Angel and Ryan, all of Lombard; three grandchildren; siblings, Robert Jr., Janet (Jerry), Forest (Brenda), Margaret and Jeanine; and sister-in-law, Karen. She was preceded in death by her brother, Arden.
Mrs. Blayney was a graduate of Tarbiyai Bahai High School in Cedar Grove, N.M., and was a resident of Lombard for 10 years and was formerly of Glen Ellyn for 13 years. She was the restaurant manager for Casey’s in Lombard for over 20 years and had attended Calvary Episcopal Church in Lombard.

Judyth Bolin

Judyth M. Bolin, nee Emmert, 67, of Huntley, died Monday, May 30, at Centeara Hospital in Woodstock.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mrs. Bolin is survived by her children, Karen (Dave) Kopchak, Beth Gilbert of Villa Park and Mike (Lynn); 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Kathy (Bill) Cass; and four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest W. “Bill”; and son, Chris.
Mrs. Bolin was a resident of Huntley for seven years and was formerly of Elmhurst for 33 years. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the 1960s, and had worked for Illinois Bell, retiring in 2001 after 20 years of service. She was a member of CWA Union Local #4202 and was a past president from 1993 to 2001.

Funeral services for June A. Burnette, nee Benson, 89, formerly of Elmhurst and Boca Raton, Fla., were held Saturday, June 4, at Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Burnette is survived by her children, William (Jody) and Robert (Patty); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Micky (Sonny) Sanger; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter.

Eugene D’Onofrio

Eugene D’Onofrio, 84, of Chicago, died Sunday, June 5, at GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights.
Visitation will be today, June 8, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 9, at St. Alexander Church Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment is at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. D’Onofrio is survived by his wife, Sheila; children, Eugene (Debra), Patricia (Edward) Caro, Richard (Jackie), Dennis (Anne Marie), Paul (Evelyn), Sheila Kalteux and Robert (Brenda) of Villa Park; 14 grandchildren; brother, Dominic; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Robert Kalteux; siblings, Flo, Nancy, Rudy and Louis; and sister-in-law, Mary D’Onofrio
Mr. D’Onofrio was a resident of Villa Park and was formerly of Chicago. He retired from IBEW Local #134.

Denise Dorman

Denise L. Dorman, 47, of Lombard, died Friday, June 3, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 6, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Marseilles Cemetery in Marseilles.
Mrs. Dorman is survived by her husband, Anthony; children, Meghan (Omar Ceballos) Egidi, Coralee of Lombard, A.J. Egidi (Kristen Nystrom) of Lombard and John of Lombard; mother, Joyce; sister, Deanne (Hector) McGarvy-Perez; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis McGarvy.
Mrs. Dorman lived in Lombard for nine years and grew up in Chicago and Mt. Prospect, where she graduated from high school in 1981. She attended Harper College.

Kim Fisch

Kim K. Fisch, nee Salyer, 48, of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Addison, died Thursday, June 2, in Glen Ellyn.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 7, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.
Mrs. Fisch is survived by her husband of 26 years, John; daughter, Amanda; parents, Richard and Wilma Salyer of Lombard; sisters, Sharon (George) Rokosh, Sandra (William) Mueller and Kathi Salyer; six nieces and nephews; one great-niece; and sister-in-law, Audrey (Billy) Parrish.
Mrs. Fisch graduated from Addison Trail High School in 1980. She loved going to Arlington Park Race Track and the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, liked visiting Myrtle Beach and enjoyed visiting local village summer festivals. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was working on writing a cookbook. She also loved gardening.

John W. Gariepy

John W. Gariepy, 94, passed away May 24, 2011, in Woodstock, Ill. He was born July 3, 1916, in Chicago.
He attended Northwestern University before enlisting in the Navy during World War II. John earned his law degree from DePaul University where he was a member of Delta Theta Pi, Warvelle Senate. He was a lifelong member of the American Bar Association and worked for Continental Insurance in Illinois, Ohio, California and Montreal PQ, Canada, retiring as western regional vice president in San Francisco.
John served his community wherever he resided. As a tribute to his community activism, John had a park and street named after him in Dollard de Ormeaux, Quebec. John was a longtime resident of Lombard, serving as trustee of the village board and Republican committeeman in DuPage County.
In recent years he resided in Fort Myers, Fla., where he served as president of the homeowners association at Royal Woods.
He is survived by his daughters, Margo Rogalin Gariepy and Susan Gariepy (Henry) Johnson; his daughter-in-law, Billie; his grandsons, John William and Paul Louis; and his great-grandson, John Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Hazel; and son, John Louis.
A memorial will be held for John and Hazel at Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home, 7715 W. Route 14, Crystal Lake, on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Joseph Jablonsky

Joseph E.G. Jablonsky, 83, of Lombard, died Saturday, June 4, in Lombard.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Jablonsky is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia; children, Carol (Michael) Brickley, Catherine (John Antanies) Jablonsky, Mary (Jeffrey) Walker and David (Saham Khozestani); seven grandchildren; and brother, Anthony, of Villa Park.
Mr. Jablonsky was a resident of Lombard for 45 years and was formerly of Chicago for 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a graduate of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, graduating with honors.
Mr. Jablonsky had retired in 1996 as a program manager for Motorola. He was a golfer, had a U.N. passport and worked on assignment for Motorola for the U.N. in various DMZ zones internationally.

Barbara Markov

Barbara E. Markov, 75, of Lombard, died Tuesday, May 31, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 4, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.
Mrs. Markov is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank Sr.; sons, David (Carolina), Frank Jr. (Carolyn) of Lombard and Steve (Jeffrey); two grandchildren; and siblings, Florence Tringl, Alice Tringl and Kenneth Emery.
Mrs. Markov was a resident of Lombard since 1976 and enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to decorate her house. She was an avid collector of teapots and spoons.

Jay Vandergrift

Jay Vandergrift, 70, of Villa Park, died Sunday, June 5, in Lombard.

Mr. Vandergrift is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; children, Cindy (Dan) Watters, Tim, Rick (Laura) and Debbe (Mike) Busse; nine grandchildren; and sister, Vera Ward.
Mr. Vandergrift, aka “J-Bird,” was an avid fan of the White Sox, Blackhawks, Chicago Bulls and Green Bay Packers. He was a “Mr. Fix-It,” as he could fix anything, and loved being retired. He was very proud of all his children and grandchildren and their sports accomplishments.
