Charlotte Barrett

Charlotte H. Barrett, nee Haase, age 83, of Lombard died April 26 at her home.

Visitation will be held Friday 4 to 8 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Brust Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park, Northlake, Ill.

Mrs. Barrett is survived by her son, John (Penni) Barrett; three daughters, Virginia Barrett, Joanne (Charles) Winge and Janet Barrett Nemeth; seven grandchildren, Matthew Zadak, Amanda Rose (Vince) Giordano, Nate and Callie Winge, Jason Barrett, and Jessica and Stephanie Nemeth; three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Liliana and Nikko; two brothers, Richard and Edward Haase; her sister, Arlene Warco; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; her brother, William Haase; and her beloved daughter, Susan.

Mrs. Barrett was born on July 17, 1927. She was reborn into the Kingdom of God on Dec. 4, 1958, the date she called her second birthday. Charlotte graduated from New Trier High School and was a member of the band and glee club. She married Bernard Barrett in 1949 and was a loving mother to five children. They celebrated 40 years of marriage. 
Mrs. Barrett retired from Ameritech (AT&T) as a marketing clerk. Charlotte created many beautiful hand knitted heirlooms for her children and grandchildren that will be cherished along with the memory of her devotion to her family.  She was known for always looking stylishly beautiful as well as having a beautiful caring heart. Charlotte loved the Lord Jesus and followed his words daily. Believing sincerely in God’s commandment to us to love one another, Charlotte lovingly gave of herself, considering all to be her neighbors, and helped many in need.

Irma P. Grebasch

Irma P. Grebasch, nee Teich, 94, of Villa Park, died Saturday, April 30,m in Villa Park.
Funeral services are being held today, May 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church,  York Center. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
Mrs. Grebasch is survived by her children, Kenneth (Jan Krajnovich) of Villa Park and Gaylin (Timothy) Winter; three grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Elane) and Alfred (Marion); daughter-in-law, Gail Grebasch; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Harold; and son, Douglas.
Mrs. Grebasch lived in Villa Park for 61 years and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 50 years, where she belonged to LWML and taught Sunday school. She was a longtime winter resident of Fort Myers, Fla., and attended St. Michael Lutheran Church in Fort Myers. She loved gardening and loved to travel with her husband.

Richard Illian

A memorial service for Richard J. Illian, 78, of Villa Park, was held Friday, April 29, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Mr. Illian is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Janine (Glen) Wolf and Nicole (Mike) Bellock; four grandchildren; and was an uncle and cousin to many.
Mr. Illian was a 12-year past Village of Villa Park trustee.

Gary Johnson

A memorial service for Gary E. Johnson, 60, of Glen Ellyn, was held Tuesday, April 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Entombment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughter, Dolores; father, Vince (MaryAnne); siblings, Glenn (Carol), Karen (Jim) Curran and Kathy (Scott) Evensen; and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores.

Marie Laechelt

Marie D. Laechelt, nee McPherson, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Morris Hospital in Morris, Ill.
Services were private.
Mrs. Laechelt was the beloved wife of the late William, loving mother of Mary Holland, Kenneth (Myla) Laechelt and Diane (Daryl) Logan; proud grandmother of Jennifer, Jimmy (Janine), Kathy (Greg), Daryl Jr. and Paul (Cristin); great-grandmother of Richie, Jessica, Brooklyn, Troy and Paisely; dear sister of Lester McPherson, Leroy McPherson, the late Archie and the late Ruthlee; and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Laechelt was a resident of Marseilles, Ill., and was formerly of Lombard.

Marian Lidicker

Marian J. Lidicker, nee Johnston, 98, of Lombard, died Tuesday, April 26, at Beacon Hill Health Care in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 29, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Lidicker is survived by her children, Richard Johnston (Marilyn) Lidicker, Virginia Ann “Ginger” (John) Sienkowski and Chip Lidicker; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger “Bud”; grandson, Rick Lidicker; and brothers, James and Robert Johnston.
Mrs. Lidicker was a resident of Lombard since 1943. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1934, and worked at the Helen Plum Library as a librarian from the 1950s through the 1970s. She was a board member of the Lombard Historical Society, where she was a historian and docent.
Mrs. Lidicker was a book club member, a member of the Red Hat Society at Beacon Hill and a member of the First Church of Lombard.

Warren Long

Warren (Bud) Long, 91, of Lombard, Ill., passed away April 17, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Loraine (nee Bruggemeyer); was a great dad to his daughter, Judith (Paul) Reinking of Kankakee, Ill., and Phoenix, Ariz.; his son, Jeffrey (Jodi) Long of Woodridge, Ill.; loving Pepa to Kristin Reinking Woodward, Jeffrey Reinking, Kevin and Ryan Long; loving Great Pepa to Amanda, Trey and Zachary Woodward; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Long served his country honorably for four years in World War II.
A celebration of Bud’s life will take place May 7 at 10 a.m. in the Maple Street Chapel of the First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main St.

Dennis Nixon

Dennis A. Nixon, 53, of Chatham, N.J., passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on April 23.
A funeral service was held at Christ Church, 561 Springfield Ave., in Summit, on Saturday, April 30. Interment was private.
Dennis was the beloved husband of 32 years to Julie; loving father of Anne Marie Nixon (Patrick Tharrett), Pamela Jean Nixon (Charles Hoitsma) and Craig Anthony Nixon; devoted son of Mary Lou Nixon and Daniel A. Nixon (Jeanne); and cherished brother of Daniel Nixon, III (Kam), David Nixon (Pat), and Elizabeth Nixon-Clark (Randy).
Born in Chicago and raised in Lombard, Ill., Dennis graduated from Glenbard East High School in 1975. He and his family moved to Chatham in 1984. Dennis began his career as an intercept operator for Illinois Bell. He was proud to have worked with the same company for 37 years and held the position of assistant vice president of operational technology with C.I.T. Group in Livingston.
Dennis was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and loved to volunteer at the Food Bank of New Jersey with his family and co-workers. As an avid motorcyclist, Dennis loved riding with his wife, family and friends and especially enjoyed traveling to Americade in Lake George N.Y. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, friend and co-worker.

Sharon Powell

Sharon Marie Powell, nee Augustyn, 64, of Lombard, died suddenly Saturday, April 30, in Lombard.
Visitation will be today, May 4, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 5, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband, Dennis M., whom she married in 1969; sons, Bryan (Christina), Jonathan and Michael (Natilee Harren); and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Powell was born in Chicago and grew up in the North Side Bucktown neighborhood. She attended beautician school and worked as a hairdresser in Chicago. She moved to Lombard in 1977, where she resided in three different homes.
She worked in education, helping special needs children to become capable adults, worked as a nanny, and was known as a loving soul and a deeply caring, compassionate and empathetic person.

Charles Reynolds

Charles “Chuck” Reynolds, 71, of Lombard, died Thursday, April 28, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Reynolds is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Donna; children, Tammie (Brian) Olsen and Chuck (Jennifer); three grandchildren; siblings, John and Linda; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara and Sheila.
Mr. Reynolds was a longtime resident of Lombard. He owned Chuck’s Tire Service for 37 years and had worked for Elmhurst Disposal for over 30 years. He was a member of Lombard Moose #2350, loved to help people and enjoyed tractor, truck and farm auctions. He had a love for animals and raised raccoons, loved to plow snow and loved his mother-in-law.

Jennie Rocco

Jennie Rocco, nee Boeringa, 76, of Lombard, died Saturday, April 30, in Lombard.
Funeral services are being held today, May 4, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. Ken Lehman of Christ Church of Oak Brook officiating. Interment is at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Rocco is survived by her husband, Peter Jr.; children, Peter III (Sandra) and Dan Sr. (Debra); eight grandchildren; and siblings, Gertrude Tazelaar, Florence “Duck” Davids and John Boeringa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Boeringa and Simon “Si” Boeringa.
Mrs. Rocco owned a school uniform company, Lombard Fashion Flare (which used to be on Main Street).

Rita Warren

Rita Warren, nee Frelly, 90, of Lisle, died Sunday, May 1, in Westmont.
Visitation will be Friday, May 6, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, from the funeral home to St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Thomas Corbino officiating. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Warren is survived by her children, Carl and Cheryl (Terrence) Martin; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and sister, Eunice Fiorito.
Mrs. Warren had worked in manufacturing as a secretary.
