Yoshiye Baba

Yoshiye Baba, nee Kuramoto, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, in Downers Grove.
A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Funeral services and interment are private.
Mrs. Baba is survived by her husband, Takashi; daughter, Linda T. (Thomas E. Rzepka) Baba; siblings, Bobby (Fu) Matsumoto and Roy “B-Boy” (Nancy Yamashiro) Matsumoto; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Esther (Moon) Kubota, Dusty (Harry) Yamashima and Morrie Kuramoto.
Mrs. Baba had worked as an assembler in a factory.

Daniel Gsell

Daniel John Gsell, 44, of Westfield, Wis., passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Westfield, with the Rev. Michael Richel and Monsignor John Hebl officiating. Following the traditional service, Dan was cremated and inurnment will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Montello at a later date. Survivors include his parents, John and Rose Mary Gsell, Westfield; his girlfriend of six years, Angel Weir, Westfield; son, Brian Daniel, Westfield; two brothers, Michael (Janette), Lombard, Ill., and Thomas (Suzzanne), Huntley, Ill.; two nephews, Michael and Mathew; two nieces, Nicole and Emma; and other relatives and many friends.
He was born on July 28, 1967, in Lombard, Ill., to John and Rose Mary (Kessen) Gsell. Dan was raised in Lombard and moved to Westfield in 2000. He worked at Pioneer Tire & Auto, Westfield as an auto mechanic since 2001. Dan liked hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and playing cards. He recently joined the gun club at Pioneer Park and was a member of the Jeff Sveum Racing Team for six years.

Frank Juza

Frank A. Juza, 88, of Lombard, died Monday, Oct. 24, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 28, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Juza was the uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie; and siblings, Edward (the late Elsie) Ledvina and George (the late Josephine) Ledvina.
Mr. Juza was a veteran of the armed forces and had worked as a mechanical engineer in manufacturing.

John Lauritzen

Funeral services for John C. Lauritzen, 86, of Oakbrook Terrace, were held Saturday, Oct. 29, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Lauritzen is survived by his children, Mark (Shawn), Linda Kulikowski, and Suzanne (John) Davey; four grandchildren; siblings, Mary Thystrup, Frank (Marylou) Lauritzen and Rose (Leroy) Zecca; many nieces, nephews and friends; and canine companion, Charlie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole S.; and brothers, Martin and Joseph Lauritzen.

Keith Mullin

Mr. Keith A. Mullin, 53, of Quincy died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011.
Visitation will be held today, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Lutheran Church of St. John.
Memorial services will be held today at 11 in the Lutheran Church of St. John with Rev. Harold Bender officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Born Aug. 16, 1958, in Elmhurst, Ill., Keith was the son of Lester R. and Darlene Rittmueller Mullin. He married Marlena K. Kenady on March 3, 1991, in Lombard, Ill. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors also include his two daughters, Taylor and Carley Mullin of Quincy; his father, Lester Mullin, and his wife, Ruth, of Lombard, Ill.; his father-in law, Lester Kenady, of Barry, Ill.; and his mother-in-law, Helen Kenady, of Quincy; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mullin was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene; one brother, Kirk Mullin; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Mullin.
Mr. Mullin was a graduate of Glenbard East High School in Lombard, Ill., and from the DeVry Institute in Addison, Ill., where he received his associate degree in electronics. He had been employed at Harris Corp. for 14 years.
Keith was an active member of the Lutheran Church of St. John. He served as a leader of the Praise Band at church and wrote and composed music for the singing group One Voice. He also played in the Raised on Radio Band.
He had many hobbies, including remote control cars, ham radio operator, boating, the outdoors and going to fireworks events. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Memorials may be made to the children's educational fund.

Rosemary Smith

Funeral services for Rosemary E. Smith, nee Guertler, 72, of Lombard, were held Saturday, Oct. 29, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard, with the Rev. John Guiney officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, William H. Jr. and Joseph E. (Karyna); two grandchildren; siblings, Gerald (Mary), James (Francis), Patrick (Elaine) and Michael (Barbara); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Sr.; and brothers, Edward (the late Mary) and Thomas (the late Arlene) Guertler.
Mrs. Smith had worked at Jim’s Florist since 1999.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Therese Willig

Therese M. Willig, nee Schleicher, of Lombard, died Sunday, Oct. 30, at St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville.
Funeral services are being held today, Nov. 2, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is private at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
Mrs. Willig is survived by her son, Donald W. (Betty) of Lombard, two granddaughters; and many other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence J. Schleicher and Louise G.
Mrs. Willig was a resident of Lombard since 1988. She was formerly of Oak Park and grew up in Elmwood Park. She was a graduate of St. Vincent Grade School in River Forest and Proviso East High School. She retired in 1990 after working as a police dispatcher for the Oak Park Police Department. She had also formerly worked for the Village of Lombard.
Mrs. Willig was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and Sacristan. She was formerly of St. Edmund’s Parish and St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in River Forest. She was was an avid fan of her grandchildren’s sports and was a former member of the Lilac Parade Committee.

Eldonna Wood, R.N.

Eldonna M. Wood, R.N., nee Baker, 83, of Lombard, died Saturday, Oct. 29, at Lexington Health Care Center in Lombard.
Visitation and funeral services will be held today, Nov. 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is private at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband of 63 years, Glenn F.; children, G. Geoffrey (Sabrina), Paul C. (Mary Jane), Lowell A. (Stella), Chelle J. of Lombard and Ronald S. (the Rev. Kimberly) of Lombard; 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Spencer, Ronald and Pauline Baker.
Mrs. Wood was a resident of Lombard since 1948. She had been a registered nurse for close to 40 years at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and retired in 1988. She was married at First United Methodist Church in Lombard where she was a former member, and had been a member of the Nurses Club and PTA.
