Peter Carvelli

Peter J. Carvelli, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Nov. 22.
There will be no services and he is to be cremated.
Mr. Carvelli is survived by his soul mate of 41 years, Arlene; and many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Carvelli was born in Chicago on Aug. 17, 1923, and resided in Lombard for 30 years.

Donald Breiter

A memorial service for Donald A. Breiter, 78, of Lombard for 49 years, will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Maple Street Chapel, 220 S. Main St., Lombard, with visitation from noon until the service at 1 p.m.
Mr. Breiter was the loving and kindhearted husband for 53 years of Sharon (nee Rulle); adored father of Michael (Karen) Breiter of Schaumburg, Jane Mistal of Lombard and Cynthia (Mark) McConnell of Schaumburg; doting grandfather of Carolyn, Audrey, Catherine and Joe Mistal, Jack and Mia McConnell, Timothy and Nicholas Breiter; fond brother of Edward (Liberty) of Lemont, Bobbie Breiter of La Grange Park and the late JoAnn (Ray) Brassard; nephew of Stella Klein and Shirley Hurley; and cousin and uncle of many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Myrtle (nee Mitchell) Breiter.
Mr. Breiter was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mildred Glumm

Mildred C. Glumm, nee Musmeci, 98, of Louisville, Ky, formerly of Oak Park, died Nov. 19 in Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 23, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Glumm is survived by her children, Arlene (Ted) Ally and Philip (Merry); two grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; and brother, Kenneth Musmeci.
Mrs. Glumm was formerly a resident of Oak Park from 1954-99 and had been a resident of Kentucky since 1999. She was a member of St. Pewee Aloysius Parish in Pewee, Ky., and was formerly a member of Ascension Parish in Oak Park. She was a homemaker and her hobbies included ceramics and crocheting.

Ada Marquette

Ada Marquette, nee Clisham, 77, of Villa Park, died Saturday, Nov. 26, in Villa Park.
Funeral services are being held today, Nov. 30, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mrs. Marquette is survived by her husband, James B.; children, Matthew Borg, Paul Marquette, Jennipher (John) Schueler of Villa Park, Jessica (Paul Springer) Marquette and Melissa (Jerry) McGowan of Lombard; nine grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Tom (Pat) and John (Barbara); sister-in-law, Denise Marquette; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Marquette was a three-year resident of Villa Park and was formerly of Chicago. She grew up in Bridgeport on the South Side and was a homemaker. She was also a ballet dancer, flamenco dancer and was an artist and sculptor. She loved antiques.

Edward E. Moltzan

Edward E. Moltzan, 81, of Bevent, Wis., passed away Nov. 22, 2011, at St. Claire’s Hospital in Weston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel-Stevens Point. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services at the funeral chapel. Burial with full military honors will be in the Forest Cemetery in Stevens Point.
Mr. Moltzan is survived by his wife, Rita; children, Edward M. (Erin) Moltzan of Lombard, Ill., and Jacquelyn (Randy) Canale of Bolingbrook, Ill.; grandchildren, Carly, Devon and Cal Moltzan, Steve, Samantha, Corinne, Curt, Joey and RJ Canale; brothers, Gustave (Joan) Moltzan of Rice Lake, Ill., and Herb (Jan) Moltzan of Dallas, Texas; and sister, Mary Moltzan of Mosinee. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Moltzan was born Aug. 14, 1930, in Illinois, the son of Gustave and Elizabeth (Rosenburg) Moltzan. He grew up and attended school in Illinois. Edward married Rita Santor in 1956 at Assumption Church in West Pullman, Ill., and worked in the production department as the foreman for Statistical Tabulating in Illinois. The couple moved from Lombard to the Bevent area in 1993. They enjoyed square dancing together for many years, and Edward enjoyed playing golf.

Michael Padecky

Michael A. Padecky of Lombard died Wednesday, Nov. 23, at GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Nov. 27, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Padecky is survived by his wife, Laurie; children, Mark (Samantha) and Jessica; and sisters, Charlyn and Karen.
Mr. Padecky was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea and Germany. He was a member of Local Union #130 for 40 years and was a member of the VFW.

Josephine Parr

Josephine M. “Peg” Parr, nee Stubner, of Lombard since 2005, formerly a longtime resident of Chicago, died Sunday, Nov. 27, at Brighton Gardens in Wheaton.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 2, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mrs. Parr is survived by her son, Thomas (Patricia) Allen of Lombard; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Charlotte LeVee of Lombard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex; and four brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Parr lived in Chicago for 94 years. She retired from Illinois Bell and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Wilma Paton

Wilma A. Paton, nee Ditter, 86, of Wheaton, formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, Nov. 22.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 26, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with the Rev. Stewart Pattison officiating. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Paton is survived by her children, Barbara, Linda (Bill) Esposito and David (Kathleen); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Ditter; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex G.; and brother, Kurt Ditter.
Mrs. Paton was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Lombard for many years.

Nancy Pulice

Nancy A. Pulice, nee Leazzo, 89, of Aurora, died Friday, Nov. 25, at Tabor Hills Nursing Home in Naperville.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Pulice is survived by her sons, Peter and Dominic (Pamela), formerly of Lombard; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Caroline (Petrina). She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J.; and brother, Anthony Leazzo.
Mrs. Pulice had worked at Glenbard East High School as head dietician for several years.

Alfred Rakebrand

Alfred “Bud” Rakebrand, 82, of Lombard, died Friday, Nov. 25, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 29, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Tom Corbino officiating. Interment was private.
Mr. Rakebrand is survived by his children, Mary Lynn (Dale) Sedivec, Loretta (Mike) Coltrane, Patty (Rich) Schlafer, Celeste (Doug) Moore, Debbie (Gary) Jordan, Diane (John) Lucas and Anne Winters; 12 grandchildren; and three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; and siblings, Gladys (the late Harold) Renn and Carl (the late Katherine).
Mr. Rakebrand was co-owner of Nosek Apothecary in Westchester. After retirement he and Esther were active volunteers in the St. Vincent de Paul ministry through their church, which was a reflection of his utmost concern for the well being of others. He loved people, gardening, nature, his wife’s cooking, his dogs and life.

George Sliwa Sr.

George J. Sliwa Sr., 68, of Lombard, died Friday, Nov. 25, in Lombard, with his family at his side.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Sliwa is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judy; sons, Christopher, Nickolas and Mark; siblings, Russell (Christine), Kenneth (Sandy), Joseph (Margo) and Debbie; many nieces, nephews and friends; and his faithful canine companion to the end, Rylee.
Mr. Sliwa was born in Chicago and moved to Lombard in 1986. He was a machinist by trade and loved his job. He also worked part-time as a security officer, served as a post commander for VFW Post 5815, was Cub master of Pack 242 and a den leader, and was active in Indian Guides. He attended his boys’ baseball games and was always the scorekeeper. He enjoyed fishing, “CSI,” horror and other shows and in addition to having coffee in his hands throughout the day, loved spaghetti, stuffed cabbage, potato pancakes, tomatoes and pickles. He had been sick over the past seven years and never once complained.
