Mary Carpenter

Mary Josephine (Woolsey) Carpenter, 95, of Breckenridge, Mo., died Sept. 17, 2011, in Chillicothe, Mo.
Funeral services were held Sept. 20, 2011, at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Breckenridge Mo.
Survivors include sons, Richard Carpenter and John Carpenter; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Mrs. Carpenter was a registered nurse in the Lombard/Chicago area for many years.

Amanda Cartwright

Funeral services for Amanda C. Cartwright, 98, formerly of Villa Park, were held Thursday, Sept. 15, at Grace Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Mrs. Cartwright is survived by her children, Paul (Barbara) and Ellen (Curtis) Manning; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J.

Josephine Geller

Josephine V. Geller, nee Ventura, 85, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 16, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Interment was at Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake.
Mrs. Geller was the daughter of the late Santo and Anna Ventura. She is survived by her brother, Lee “Leo” (JoRose) Ventura; cherished friend and companion, Paul Don Hunt; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Konczal; and brother, Santo “Poncho” Ventura.

Jeanne Hoffman

Visitation for Jeanne K. Hoffman, 89, nee Kirkland, of Villa Park, will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 23, at the funeral home. Interment is at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her children, Walter K. Jr. (Georgeann), John (Nina) and Thomas (Laura); four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (the late Al) Urbanus; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter K. Sr.; grandson, Michael; and sister, Ruth (Tony) Scarpelli.

Shirley Kenyon

Shirley Knaus Kenyon, 84, died Thursday, Sept. 15.
Visitation will be today, Sept. 21, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, at Community Presbyterian Church in Lombard. Interment will be at Burlington Cemetery in Longmont, Colo.
Mrs. Kenyon, the daughter of the late Daniel and Lillian Knaus, is survived by her children, Daphne, Larry (Joe), Stephanie Kushner, Diane Gordon, Jeffrey and Pat Rittenhouse; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Marian Berryman, Roberta Olp and Richard Knaus; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A., whom she married in 1951; and siblings, Dallas, Kendall and Gordon Knaus, and Muriel Miller.
Mrs. Kenyon was born in Colorado and grew up on a farm, graduating from Longmont High School in 1945, after which she attended Colorado State University. She had worked as a secretary in Denver, and had lived in South Carolina and many places in between before moving to Villa Park. She worked doing secretarial and administrative work, mostly at the DuPage County Courthouse, where she worked for 15 years.
She was known for her love of people, music and nature, and one of her favorite places was the Morton Arboretum, which she enjoyed touring during all seasons. She was the author of “Knaus Family Stories,” a compilation of family stories and history. She was always proud of her Colorado pioneer roots.

Alice Millett

Alice M. Millett, nee Mikolajewski, of Lombard, died Thursday, Sept. 15, at Lexington Healthcare Center in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 17, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Millett is survived by her sister, Jeri (Jerry); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; and eight sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Millett was a resident of Lombard since 1953 and was a member of Sacred Heart Church.

Anne Monti

Anne Monti, nee Bittner, 88, of Florida, formerly of Lombard, died Friday, Sept. 9, in Florida.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 17, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Monti is survived by her children, Robert (Elizabeth), Richard (Irene), Henry (Joan), Michael (Laurie), Mark (Lori), Dean and Michele (Kevin) Lemons; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Hank”; and seven brothers and four sisters.

Mary Roubal

Mary T. Roubal, nee Krippner, 82, of Lombard, died Sunday, Sept. 18, at Fairview Baptist Home in Downers Grove.
Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 26, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mrs. Roubal is survived by her children, James, Martin (Karen), Charles (Pat), Donald (Roseanne), Robert (Jan Marie), Barbara (Mark) Decker, Margaret (Tom) Heminsley and Therese; 27 grandchildren, over 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F.; daughter, Catherine Whelan; parents; and a brother and two sisters.
Mrs. Roubal was a resident of Lombard for 53 years and was formerly a member of the choir at St. Pius X Church in Lombard.
