Ray Baehr

Ray Baehr, 84, of Lombard, died Monday, March 26, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 28, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Baehr is survived by his children, Marilyn (William) Seymore of Lombard, David (JoAnne) of Lombard and Alan; daughter-in-law, Jane; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; son, Bruce; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Baehr was a resident of Lombard for over 60 years and was formerly of Villa Park. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He had been a carpenter doing home building with Roy Hall Custom Homes in Glen Ellyn. He was known as a quiet man.

James Brackmann

James E. Brackmann, 73, of Villa Park, Ill., born Dec. 22, 1938, died on March 28, 2012.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Villa Park Community Recreation Building, 320 E. Wildwood St., Villa Park.
Mr. Brackmann was the beloved husband of Alicia, nee Pietrzyk; devoted son of the late Erwin and Hilda Brackmann; loving father of Leslie (Greg) Seei; dear grandfather of Tanya and Marc (Amanda) Boutin; great-grandfather of Sabrina; and cherished family member of many.
Originally from St. Louis, Mo., he was a resident of Elmhurst, Ill., for 34 years before moving to Villa Park.

Louis Chiricotti

Visitation for Louis J. Chiricotti, 72, of Elmhurst, will be held today, April 4, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 5. Interment is private.
Mr. Chiricotti is survived by his children, Deborah (Theodore) Krone, Lori (Andrew) Sidrony and Julie (John) Nolte; four grandchildren; brothers, Phillip and John (Audrael); and was the uncle of four and nephew and godchild of Cecilia Pusatera.

Eileen Happel

Eileen C.M. Happel, nee McKenna, 94, of Lombard, died Wednesday, March 28, at Lexington Health Care in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
Mrs. Happel is survived by her children, Thomas P. of Lombard and Kathleen H. (Kenneth) Naatz; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Theodore H. “Ted”; parents, Thomas McKenna and Anna K.; and siblings, Arthur McKenna and Helen Marie McKenna.
Mrs. Happel was born in the farmhouse her grandparents had built at 563 Glen Oak in Lombard; her mother was part of the Knippen family who were one of the original settlers and farmers in Lombard. She was a 1935 graduate of Glenbard West High School. She was a lifelong and active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was married, and had been a secretary for Edwin Deicke in Lombard and Suburban Insurance in Wheaton.

Shirley Janik

Shirley P. Janik, nee Pawelczyk, 85, of Lombard, died Thursday, March 29, at Lexington Healthcare Center, Lombard.
Funeral services and interment are private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Mrs. Janik is survived by her children, Allan (Kathryn Kunkel), James (Laurene), Joanne Gallagher and Laura (Jeffrey) Schweppe of Lombard; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew “Emmet”; and grandson, Jason.
Mrs. Janik was a resident of Lombard for 47 years. She was a waitress at Dino’s Restaurant in Franklin Park and was a homemaker. She loved to polka and do crossword puzzles and play Scrabble to keep her mind sharp.

Ruth Kacirek

Ruth Ursula Kacirek, nee Grulke, 90, of St. Charles, formerly of Lombard, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her adoring family on March 21.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Carol) of Lombard, Raymond and Judith Welch; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerd Grulke; her loving husband, Frank; her two younger sons, Steven (Linda) and John (Melissa); and her first grandson, Kyle of Lombard.
Ruth was born in Berlin, Germany, on Feb. 17, 1922. She met her future husband Frank, a second lieutenant in Patton’s Army, during the final stages of the American invasion of Germany. She came to American in 1951 and raised five children in Lombard.
Ruth was an excellent cook and loved to knit, crochet and sew. On the day prior to her death she was sitting on her deck with a glass of wine, enjoying a beautiful summer breeze in March.

Frederick Mayer

Frederick “Fritz” Mayer passed away on March 22, 2012, in Hot Springs, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; and children, Denise, Barbara, Michael and Brian.
Fritz served as a volunteer fireman in Lombard in the late 50s and early 60s. He was active in baseball competitions and water fights between the police and fire departments.

Joanne O’Connor

Funeral services and interment for Joanne H. O’Connor, nee Rademaker, of Lombard, were private.
Mrs. O’Connor is survived by her children, Kathe (Scott) Woeltje, Judy Corkle, Sandy and Bob; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J.; sons, William and James; and siblings, Lloyd, Hank, Burns, Clarence, Irma, Eleanor, Ruth and Jeanette.
Mrs. O’Connor was a 20-year employee retired from the JCPenney Outlet.

Dote Raddatz

Dote L. Raddatz, nee Schulz, 92, of Wheaton, died Tuesday, March 27, in Wheaton.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, at First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton.
Mrs. Raddatz is survived by her children, Andrea (Jeff) and James B. (Barb); three grandchildren, one great-grandson; and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L.
Mrs. Raddatz was a resident of Wheaton for 51 years. She grew up in the St. Louis area, moved to Chicago and graduated from Evanston Township High School She studied at the Art Institute, where she met her husband.
Her specialties were water colors and oil painting and she received a fellowship to study in Sweden. She taught briefly at the Art Institute and was a member of the Artist Guild of Chicago
Mrs. Raddatz was known as a devoted mother and a “storybook” grandma who enjoyed baking, reading and writing poetry. She also loved cheering for the White Sox and watching Fox News.

Ronald Roth

Ronald Roth, 58, of Lombard, died Saturday, March 31, in Lombard.
Funeral services are being held today, April 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Patrick Boomhower officiating. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Mr. Roth is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Raymond and Phillip (Ashley); one granddaughter; and siblings, Pam (Jan) Roth, Susan (Steve) Vedok, Ken (Jaime) Deicke and Randy (Carol) Deicke. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard L. and William E. Culp.
Mr. Roth was president of First Star Properties and served for 40 years with the York Center Fire District. He was a member of the Lombard Moose Chapter #2350 and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

James Routson

A memorial service for James Charles Routson, 95, lifelong resident of Lombard, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Lombard Bible Church.
Mr. Routson was the beloved husband of Alice; loving father of Kathryn (Ralph) Transue and Joan (Richard) Angevine and preceded in death by son James William; proud grandfather of John, Jenny and Eric; and great-grandfather of James, Adam, Alexandra and Soren.
Mr. Routson was a buyer for Ben Franklin Stores, an active member of Lombard Bible Church, and taught stained glass classes at Lombard Senior Center and Beacon Hill. He loved playing golf and bowling. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and neighbors.

Nicoletta Salvitti

Nicoletta Salvitti, 80, of Lombard, died Friday, March 30, in Winfield.
Funeral services were held Monday,  April 2, with prayers from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard, with the Rev. George Zieba officiating. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Ms. Salvitti is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Don) Brauch, Gene Salvitti, Kevin (Tina) Kornblith, Karen (James) Ziganto, Stephen (Diana) Ferrara, Diane (Mark) Kowalzczyk and Susan (John) Sheehan; and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Louis (Dulcenia) Salvitti, Lorraine Kornblith and Joan (Dominic) Ferrara.
Ms. Salvitti had worked as an administrative assistant in human resources.
