Raymond Cortesi

Raymond T. Cortesi, 64, of Lombard, died  Monday, July 23, at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood.
Interment was private.
Mr. Cortesi is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Katherine and Jennifer; siblings, Ronald (Evelyn) Cortesi and Carlotta (the late Ken) Ortegel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond (the late Marie) Cortesi.
Mr. Cortesi was an electronic technician. He was kind and beloved.
Memorials to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.

Evelyn L. DiMatteo

A memorial service for Evelyn L. DiMatteo, 79, of Elmhurst, was held Saturday, July 28, at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst. Interment was private.
Mrs. DiMatteo was the beloved wife of the late Joseph; loving mother of Sally Christiansen, Michael Beers, Carol (David) Menke and Nancy (Larry) Wells; grandmother of Michael (Judy) Christiansen, David Christiansen, Matthew Christiansen, Derek Menke, Dane Menke, Devan Menke, Nicholas Wells, Jessica Wells and Jonathan Wells; great grandmother of Luke Christiansen and Jacob Wells; sister of Joy Bergman, Susan Jefferies and the late Ruth Pond; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She was a great friend and neighbor and will be dearly missed by all.

Scott Gordon Fraser

Scott Gordon Fraser, 53, of Dakota Dunes, S.D., died July 24, 2012, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held in Lombard, Ill., at a later date.
Grateful to have shared his life with him are his wife Mary (Radtke) Fraser of 28 years; and four children, Chris of Lombard, Ill., Heather of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jennifer of Omaha, Neb., and Melissa of Dakota Dunes, S.D. He is also survived by his mother, Jessica Fraser of Lombard, Ill.; sisters, Carol (Dave) Knuth of Addison, Ill., Lee (Chris) Salafatinos of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Pamela Fraser of Lombard, Ill. He was preceded in death by his father, Alastair Fraser.
Mr. Fraser was born July 8, 1959, in New Haven, Conn., to Jessica and Alastair Fraser. Scott lived most of his life in Lombard, Ill. Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1982 and would go on to get his MBA at Aurora University. Scott was employed as the treasurer of Panduit in Tinley Park, Ill., for many years. He was a talented musician, loving husband and a wonderful father.

Joseph Fisher

A Masonic Service for Joseph L. Fisher, age 92, was held Saturday, July 28, at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17w201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Mr. Fisher was the beloved husband of the late Wanda, nee Hammerschmidt; devoted father of Karen Baker, Daniel (Nancy) and the late Joseph (the late Susan); dear grandfather of Ginger (David) Garbo, Jessica (Mike) Phipps, Amanda (Tim) Barger and Sarah (Kevin) Fitzgerald; great grandfather of eight; and fond brother of James and William (Connie).
Mr. Fisher was a member of Lombard Masonic Lodge #1098 and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 5.

Ruth Fredrick

Ruth G. Fredrick, 96, of Lombard, died Monday, July 23, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Interment was held Tuesday, July 31, at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mrs. Fredrick is survived by her grandchildren, Andrew D. (Jannica) and Jeanine Fredrick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verner; son, Ronald David; daughter-in-law, Cynthia; and grandson, Peter.
Mrs. Fredrick was born in Chicago, and resided in Glen Ellyn for 40 years and Lombard for the last 24 years. She worked with her husband at Westmont Building Products. She was on the Social Committee at Beacon Hill, Lombard, and was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn.

Alice Ghilardi

Alice Ghilardi, nee Latushko, 90, of Madison, Wis., formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, July 24, in Madison.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28, at First Church of Lombard, Maple Street Chapel. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove.
Mrs. Ghilardi is survived by her children, David (Rose), Debra (John) Bloom, Nancy (Jeff) Taylor and Jill (Glenn) Bridgewater; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; daughter, Vicki Williamsen; sister, Nadia Koenig; and brother, John Latushko.
Mrs. Ghilardi resided in Lombard from 1954-89 and had lived in Winfield and Madison. She was a former member of the Winfield Seniors and the First Church of Lombard. Besides raising five children, she was a gardener and a great cook.

Martha Spence Glaza

Martha Spence Glaza, 52, of Lombard, died on July 11, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
A private memorial service is being planned.
She is survived by her mother, Jessie Spence of Glen Ellyn; daughter, Danielle (Dustin) Sanders; son, Nickolas; daughter, Victoria; sister, Millie (Keith) Zukausky of Cadillac, Mich.; sister Melody (Ken) Chapman of Avon, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, William Spence.
Martha was a graduate of Glenbard West High School and worked in claims for IRMA for many years. She attended Lombard Bible Church.

Margot B. Schweppe

Margot Brockman Schweppe, age 78, died on Sunday, July 15, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Her ashes will be spread along a favorite hiking trail in Shenandoah National Park in a private ceremony.
She is survived by her children, Mark, Michael and Laura Schweppe; daughters-in-law, Ellen Gray and Marsha LeBoeuf; son-in-law, Steve Harris; her grandchildren, Drew and Maggie Schweppe; and her brothers, Richard and Andrew Brockman.
A longtime resident of Lombard, Margot moved to Alexandria, Va., in 1991 to be closer to her children. A graduate of York High School and Elmhurst College, Margot was a longtime member of the First Church of Lombard. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, Girl Scout volunteer leader and a true friend to many people both in Lombard and Alexandria.
Margot’s love of travel and the outdoors brought her to many beautiful places around the world, including all 50 states in America. Margot was an avid birder and enjoyed hiking, camping, canoeing and backpacking well into her 60s. Her adventurous and friendly spirit will be remembered by her family and friends.

Bernice Soberalski

Funeral services for Bernice Soberalski, 91, of Villa Park, formerly of Arizona, will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park.
Mrs. Soberalski is survived by her children, Lawrence (the late Barbara) and Margaret “Peggy.” She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward.

Daniel Zito Sr.

Visitation for Daniel J. Zito Sr., 93, of Villa Park, will be Thursday, Aug. 2, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 3, at St. Alexander Church Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Zito is survived by his children, Daniel J. Jr., Donald F. and Richard J.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Madeline Iovinelli, Ralph Zito, John (Cindy) Zito and Florence Fabbrini; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth.
Mr. Zito was a World War II Army veteran.
