Robert Bier

Funeral services for Robert James Bier, 64, of Lombard, were held Monday, Aug. 27, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Bier is survived by his wife, Penny; children, Sandi (Mark) Wolski, Robert J. Jr. and Richard T.; three grandchildren; siblings, Edward, John Bier and Barbara Shea; and many nieces and nephews.

Catherine Cabo

Funeral services for Catherine A. Cabo, nee Connelly, 78, of Villa Park, were held Saturday, Aug. 25, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. to Mass at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Cabo is survived by her children, Lou, Cathleen (Craig) Nute, Chris and Colleen (Russ) Annunziata; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Margaret Mary Connelly Heese; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; and siblings, Mary Frances (Jerry) Strawn and James Connelly.

Wilma Champene

Wilma F. Champene, nee Loufek, 94, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, at DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Lombard.
Mrs. Champene is survived by her daughters, Nicolle (John) Jaska of Lombard and Sandra (Donald) Bradley of Villa Park; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Duke; parents, Anthony and Emma Loufek; and sister, Irma M. Moore.
Mrs. Champene had retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1983. She had worked in Villa Park from 1960-83.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Calvary Episcopal Church, 105 W. Maple St., Lombard, would be appreciated.

Richard Herner

Richard F. Herner, 74, of Glen Ellyn, died Tuesday, Aug. 21.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 27, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Herner is survived by his brother, Tony (Karen); nephews, Tony Herner Jr., Fred (Lisa) Klepitsch and David Klepitsch; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Anna; and siblings, Mary Klepitsch, Betty Beikman, Virginia Meyer and Anton.
Mrs. Herner was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany during the 1960s. He was a resident of Glen Ellyn for over 35 years and was a retired sheet metal worker. He had been active with the Right to Life.

Phylis Koch

Phylis Koch, nee Berghahn, 97, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, in Elmhurst.
Funeral services and interment were private. The Rev. Maxwell Codillo officiated.
Mrs. Koch is survived by her daughter, Lora; and was the aunt of Kurt (Janet) Berghahn; great-aunt of Margaret (Gary) Newmann; and great-great-aunt of Jessica. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rene; and brother, Richard J. Berghahn.
Mrs. Koch was a homemaker and member of Mont Clare United Church of Christ.
