Sylvia DeBoo

Funeral services for Sylvia E. DeBoo, 84, were held Tuesday, Aug. 7, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. DeBoo is survived by her children, Sr. Barbara DeBoo, CSA, Patricia (Peter) Schram, Dan (Christine), Margaret (Gary) Chapman, Lorette DeBoo, Joseph M. (Diane), Lucy (Joseph) Stastny, Paul (Janet), Andrew, Albert, Edward and Philip (Angela); 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H.; and siblings, Irene (Frederick) Spence and Paul Jarabek.

William Gee Jr.

William Richard “Rick” Gee Jr., 56, of Lombard, died Friday, Aug. 3, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Interment is private. A celebration of Rick’s life will be held Friday, Aug. 9, at the Log Cabin at Four Seasons Park in Lombard.
Mr. Gee is survived by his mother, Doris Gee; brother, Randall D. (Maureen) Gee; three nephews and two nieces; and the love of his life, Carmen Cervantes. He was preceded in death by his father, William R. Gee; and brother, Ronald A. Gee.
Mr. Gee attended Glenbard East High School and lived in Lombard all his life.
Memorial donations may be directed to Chicagoland Toys for Tots, in Rick’s name, Motorcade Parade.

Adele Heuser

Adele Martha Heuser, nee Gurgel, 77, of Elmhurst, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, surrounded by her family at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Heuser is survived by her children, Stephen (Amy), David (Donna) and Deborah (Ken) Mitchell; nine grandchildren; and siblings, Norman (Sandra) Gurgel, Elaine (Al) Steinhaus, Lenore (Tom) McCauley and Melvin (Mary Lou) Gurgel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhold and Olga Gurgel; and husband, the Rev. Theodore Heuser.
Mrs.  Heuser dedicated over 30 years of her life to doing what she loved, teaching in the Lutheran schools. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Helen P. Johnson

Helen P. Johnson (nee Purdy), 94, of Lombard, passed away peacefully July 29, 2012, in her home.
Services were private.
Mrs. Johnson was the beloved wife of Robert D.; and loving mother of Janet and Diane. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sophia VanRy; stepfather, Charlie VanRy; and sister, Violet J. Miller.
Helen was born and raised in Chicago, where she graduated from Lindbloom High School in 1935. She met Robert ballroom dancing at the popular spots in the late 1930s. They were married in 1941. They moved to Lombard in 1945. They attended many National Square Dance conventions, weeks and weekends.
Helen was a 63-year and charter member of the Green Valley Unit of DuPage County H.C.E. (originally Home Bureau). She was also a member of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Guild, Lombard Woman’s Club (55 years), Lombard Historical Society, Friends of the Library and Illinois Railway Museum; and was a charter member of West Suburban Embroiderer’s Guild. She had been the leader of Happy Highlanders 4-H Club for many years, teaching sewing and ceramics. Helen will be greatly missed by the many who considered her a very special lady.

Rodolfo Laureano
Rodolfo “Rudy” Laureano, 79, of Oakbrook Terrace, died Monday, July 30, in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 2, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. Mario Quejadas officiating. Interment was private.
Mr. Laureano is survived by his wife, Nenita; children, Roderick (Jeri), Rodell and Marie (Steve) Stallbaum; four grandchildren; seven siblings; and was the special uncle of Cesar (Mylah) Ong and many other nieces and nephews.
Mr. Laureano had worked as a CPA in business accounting.

Helma Mayer

Helma Mayer, nee Duch, age 90, of Lombard, Ill., born in Crivitz, Wis., died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 10, from 3-9 p.m. at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road (three blocks south of Roosevelt Road), Lombard 60148. Services are Sunday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home, Crivitz, Wis. Interment is at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Crivitz, Wis.
Mrs. Mayer was the beloved mother of Nancy (Daniel) Hess, Sally (Dale) Reed and Lisa (Frank) Wright; cherished grandmother of Matthew (Kirsten) Hess, Peter (Holly) Hess, Kimberly Hess, Christina and Michael Reed, and Erica and Jessica Wright; and a proud great-grandmother and cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert.
Mrs. Mayer grew up on a farm outside of Crivitz, Wis. She moved to Chicago as a young woman, where she worked at the Wrigley Company before marrying her husband, Albert Mayer. Helma and Albert eventually settled in Lombard, where Helma became a successful real estate agent for Coldwell Banker and RE/MAX Realtors. Helma also owned her own real estate company.
Helma loved real estate and she received many accolades during her long career. After retiring at the age of 76, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing solitaire and treasured time spent with her family.

Theresia Mayer

Theresia Mayer, nee Aschberger, 83, of Lombard, died Friday, Aug. 3, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services are being held today, Aug. 8, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Mayer is survived by her daughters, Brigitte O’Brien and Cathy; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Anthony (Catherine) Aschberger; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton; and son-in-law, Jack O’Brien.
Throughout her life, beginning with her birthplace in Satin, Yugoslavia, to Frankenburg, Austria, and finally to Chicago, Berwyn and Lombard, Mrs. Mayer had always enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking. Sewing clothes for her family was a labor of love and gardening was a celebration of the wonder of nature.
Her favorite interest, though, was cooking. She always felt that cooking for family was a priority, and that sharing food with family and friends was one of the best ways to express her love.

Alberta Rogers

Alberta D. Rogers, 94, of Lombard, died Friday, Aug. 3, at Lexington Health Care, Lombard.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 7, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her children, Donna (Walter) Skidmore, John Lahey, Patricia (Carl) Kusek, Frank (Karen) Lahey of Lombard and Loretta Cummins; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Loretta.
