Lloyd Andersen

Lloyd C. Andersen, 88, of Villa Park for 45 years and most recently of Manor Care Nursing Home in Rolling Meadows, died Monday, Feb. 6.
Funeral services and interment were private.
Mr. Andersen is survived by his children, Gary (Cindy), Bob (Bernie) and Gayle (Joe) Barbarski; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jean Saunders and Lorraine Blumenthal. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Jean; parents, Arthur C. and Gladys; and brother, Arthur.
Mr. Andersen was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and moved to Chicago at a young age. He graduated from Tilden Tech High School in 1941, enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly after Pearl Harbor and proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1945. While in the navy, he was a carpenter’s mate on the USS Remus, serving in the South Pacific Theater.
Following his discharge, he and Jean moved to the South Side of Chicago, where he worked for Campbell Soup and Charles Levy Circulating Co. They later moved to Hammond, Ind., where he worked for Inland Steel and as a traveling salesman in the automotive aftermarket business. In 1965, the family moved to Villa Park, where he started his own company as a manufacturer’s representative, Tri-State Automotive on St. Charles Road, and later partnered with Sam Elkes to form the successful Elkes-Andersen Corp. in the same field.
Mr. Andersen was an avid golfer who had the distinction of collecting two holes-in-one. He also loved to tell the story of how the first Portillo’s Dog House was built in the back yard of his Villa Park home by its previous owner. (see photos at any Portillo’s restaurant).

Richard Brandeis Sr.

Richard Brandeis Sr., 87, of Lexington of Lombard, died Friday, Feb. 3, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
A visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday, March 13, at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Downers Grove. Interment is private.
Mr. Brandeis is survived by his children, Richard Jr. (Joan), Ken (Dawn) and Karen; four grandchildren; and a niece and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, June; and brothers, Leo and Melvin Brandeis.
Mr. Brandeis was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army; and had worked in distribution and sales for Zenith Radio. He was formerly of Indian Head Park and Riverside.
Memorials to St. Luke General Fund, 3910 Highland Ave., Downers Grove, IL 60515, would be appreciated.

Richard Frillmann

Richard P. Frillmann, 80, formerly of Lombard, died Monday, Feb. 6, at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Manteno, Ill.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 9, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Frillmann is survived by his brother, William R. (Barbara R.); sister-in-law, Edna Mae Frillmann; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; and brother, Louis W.
Mr. Frillmann was a 25-year-plus retired employee of Roadway Trucking. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #705.
