Roy E. Bach Sr.

Roy E. Bach Sr., 95, of Elmhurst, formerly of Villa Park, died Thursday, Feb. 2, at Lexington Health Care in Elmhurst.
Funeral services are being held today, Feb. 8, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Bach is survived by his son, R. E. Jr. (Sally A.); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia.
Mr. Bach was the oldest living Eagle Scout in DuPage County. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, and was a longtime member of Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church.

Billy Fierce

Funeral services for Billy Lee Fierce, 72, of Lombard, were held Friday, Feb. 3, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Mr. Fierce is survived by his children, Debra Lynn (Chuck) Bennett, Joseph (Catherine), Christine (Jack) Rudnick and Mary (Kevin) Rich; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Edie (John) Gross; and best friends, Carl and Diane Schroeder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Lee.

Richard Frillman

Richard P. Frillman, 80, formerly of Lombard, died Monday, Feb. 6, at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Manteno, Ill.

Olive Grimestad

Olive R. Grimestad, nee Pedersen, 92, of Lombard, died Thursday Feb. 2, in Downers Grove.
Visitation and funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with Chaplain Hendrik Boer officiating. Interment is at Mount Olive Cemetery in Chicago.
Mrs. Grimestad is survived by her children, Darlene (Robert) Pehlke, Dwight (Barbara) and Craig (Joann); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Luella (the late Kenneth) Lexby; and one nephew and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erling; and nephew, Keith.
Mrs. Grimestad had worked as a secretary in banking.

Ruth Heaton

Ruth Mary Heaton, nee Gilbert, 91, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Jan. 24.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, at Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Heaton is survived by her children, Mary Louise and Mally (Ray) Ziegler; two grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen (Robert) McDonald; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Packard “Ray”; and siblings, Esther, Florence, Mally (Ernie) Bratcher, Jean (Phillip) Parrish and John (Gerri) Gilbert.

Ira Mardell Lee, 87, of Winfield, formerly of Lombard, died Saturday, Feb. 4, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.

Ralph N. LoCoco, 58, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Lombard.

Mr. LoCoco is survived by his wife, Michelle; sons, Jason (Lauren), Paul and Anthony (Sara); five grandchildren; siblings, Samuel P. Jr., Rocco (Kathy), Jack, Charles (Monica), Angeline Spencer and Donna (Anthony) Cardoza; and was an uncle to many and friend to many more. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra; and parents, Samuel P. Sr. and Marie.
Mr. LoCoco was the used car sales manager at Castle Chevrolet in Villa Park.

Harriet Pocius

Harriet Pocius, nee Jaroszynska, 63, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Ms. Pocius is survived by her sister, Sophie Kaul; was the aunt of Robert, Jennifer, Karen, Deborah Mary, Patsy and Donna; and was the great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jan and Helena Jaroszynska; and brother, Boleslaw (Olga) Jaroszynska.

Tharsylla Spohnholz

Tharsylla A. “Teddy” Spohnholz, 98, of Villa Park, died Friday, Feb. 3.

Jean Tatara

Jean Marie Tatara, nee Santella, 92, of Carol Stream, formerly of Lombard, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, at St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 7, at St. Patrick’s Residence. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Tatara is survived by her son, Richard (Patricia); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Emily DeMora. She was preceded in death by her husband, Casey, whom she married in 1941; daughter, Janice; parents, Christina and Emidio; and siblings, Felix, Andrew, Anne Bauer and Mary De Cata.
Mrs. Tatara was born in Chicago to Italian immigrant parents and attended St. Genevieve Elementary School and Forman High School, graduating with honors in 1939. In 1941 she ranked third highest on the civil service exam, giving her pick of any civil service station in the United States. She chose to stay in Chicago and worked in army purchasing at Navy Pier throughout the war.
She worked for many years at Bankers Insurance and then at Concordia Mutual Life Insurance Co. After retirement, she continued working at Walmart in the office until she was 87 years old. She was known as an amazing cook, an avid bowler and savvy bingo player; and was full of boundless energy, enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and Sasha, her canine companion.
Mrs. Tatara was a devout Catholic and parishioner at St. Genevieve Church in Chicago, Christ the King Church in Lombard and St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Carol Stream.

Marvin Wolf

Marvin R. Wolf died Sunday, Jan. 8, at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverdale, Calif.

Mr. Wolf is survived by his wife of 63 years, Catherine “Kay”; children, Marvin Jr. (Beverly), Eileen (Phillip) Sanders, Michael (Kathleen), Elizabeth (Mike Barry) Kotwas, Patrick (Kathleen) and Cathleen Nevara; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Elfriede Shane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugen and Elisabeth Wolf; brothers, Albert and Carl; and grandson, Nicholas Kotwas.
