Dean Bell

Dean Lewis Bell, 85, of Lombard, died Tuesday, June 19, in Chicago.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 22, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Bell is survived by his wife, Regina “Rose”; daughter, Marianne (Lawrence) Dewey; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Sehnert; and brother, Myron Bell.
Mr. Bell had worked as a machinist for printing presses and had worked for the Chicago Tribune for many years.

Ronald Bowes

Ronald G. Bowes, 74, of Lombard, died Tuesday, June 19, at the University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard, with the Rev. George Zieba officiating. Interment was at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Bowes is survived by his wife, Marty; children, Sue (Phil) Kazmierczak, Sharon (Terry) Masterson, Jeff (Mindy), Lisa and Amy (Mike) Schmidt; 11 grandchildren; siblings, twin brother Richard (Janet) Bowes and Patricia Bamberger; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bowes was a veteran of the Illinois Army Reserve and was a retired lieutenant colonel. He had been a mechanical engineer with Nicor Gas for 35 years, was a member and past board president of ESSE Adult Day Care Center and was a longtime parishioner at St. Pius X. He was an avid world traveler and runner who loved to water and snow ski, bicycle and roller blade.

William Bussa

William J.  Bussa, 82, of Lombard, died Friday, June 22, after a prolonged illness.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 28, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with a service at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard Friday, June 29.
Mr. Bussa is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose; children, David, William (Joyce), Donna (Randall) Effner, Sandra (Fidel) Gonzales and Robert; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Peter Abruzzo. He was preceded in death by his son, John; and daughter, Barbara Abruzzo.
Mr. Bussa was a graduate of Tilden Tech and the University of Illinois, and served in the U.S. Army. He was an educator and coach at Wagner and Glen Crest Junior High School in Glen Ellyn for over 30 years.

John Cada

Funeral services for John W. Cada, 67, of Villa Park, are being held today, June 27, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Elmhurst. Entombment is at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum.
Mr. Cada is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gladys; son, John C.; one grandchild; brother, Laurence (Dawn) Cada; and one niece and four nephews.

Geraldine Connolly

Geraldine Evelyn Connolly, nee Boyd, 81, of Bolingbrook, died Tuesday, June 19.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 23, at St. Francis Assisi in Bolingbrook. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Connolly is survived by her children, Nancy (Lynn) Petersen, Pam Matrisiciano, Cathy (Greg) Greene of Lombard, J. Brett and Pat (Tim) Doyle; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris and Dolores; brothers-in-law, Eugene Parker and Lawrence (Moddie) Connolly; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents, Victor and Mary; and siblings, Genevieve Ryan, Eugene Boyd, Richard Boyd and Phyllis Parker.
Mrs. Connolly was born in Geneva and worked as a banquet waitress in the area for many years. She raised her family in Lombard, then spent the past 22 years residing in Bolingbrook with her sister, Doris. She was an active member of the Jim Beam Club, a diehard Cubs fan who watched every game she could and was active in her church until she was too ill to attend. Several years after her husband died, she met Frank Buddell, who played an integral part in her life until his death in December 1993.

Catherine Koniewicz

Catherine “Kay” Koniewicz, nee Pister, 86, of Lombard, died Tuesday, June 19, in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Patrick Boomhower officiating. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mrs. Koniewicz is survived by her children, Kenneth (Lannette “Laurie”) and Joanne (Robert) De Vries; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Peter Pister Jr.; and one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P.
Mrs. Koniewicz had worked as an electrical engineer in telecommunications.

John Mikel

John Patrick Mikel, 44, of Lombard, died Wednesday, June 20, in Lombard.
A memorial Mass was held Friday, June 22, at Christ the King Church in Lombard, and another was held at St. Patrick of Merna in Bloomington.
Mr. Mikel is survived by his sons, Andrew John and Patrick Christopher; parents, D. Keith and Rita Killian Mikel; former spouse, Kristine A.; brother, Mark (Mary) Mikel and family; uncles, John. J. (Stacie) Killian and family, and Guy Mikel and family; and aunt, Chloe (Harold) Misch and family. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Mikel; maternal grandparents, John and Martha Larkin Killian; and paternal grandparents, Rex and Dorothy Gretter Mikel.
Mr. Mikel was born in Bloomington and was a 1986 graduate of Lexington High School in Lexington, and a 1990 graduate of Loras College. He was a resident of Lombard for 17 years, worked as a buyer for Concentric Inc. in Itasca, was a member of Christ the King Church and was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid supporter of Glenn Westlake Middle School and Glenbard East High School.

Anna Super, nee Dranuta, 97, of Villa Park, died Friday, June 22.
